A month later, having received no communication - I followed up and 'Janet' showed up. Dr Ali and her dental assistant team her team were excellent, thorough and professional in their interactions. At the beginning of the first meeting it was explained that Invisalign wasn't covered by insurance, which included a whitening treatment as part of the procedure. Oddly, no cleaning nor annual examination were offered during the 18 month treatment. It wasn't until that final appointment and after cleaning, X-rays etc., was I told the whitening wasn't part of the plan I'd paid in advance for. Be aware that while quality of care is good, the office management and billing team are uncommunicative, illusive, inconsistent and we caught them attempting to push claims through our insurance company (according to our insurance) despite telling us they don't take that insurance and asked us to pay in full up front. On multiple occasions appointments were moved or adjusted by the office, all of which were during regular working hours for most people... I've personally no issue with that as a freelancer and understanding clients but it might be inconvenient for others.

It's been 4 months and we have tackled, a deep cleaning, 6 fillings, 3 root canals (from a specialist referral, they were also fantastic. No pain!) Now 3 fillings & 3 crowns. TrueCare Dental also tried using high-pressure sales tactics on me, including the scam artist dentist challenging me by saying demeaning stuff like, "Well, if you can't afford it..." Fortunately I am not easily pressured. Went to two different dentists after to get second and third opinions, both of whom said I don't need any part of my mouth deep-cleaned (let alone a full mouth deep cleaning) and I do not need invisalign. I also only need one filling, not the six or seven TrueCare Dental insisted I needed. TrueCare Dental is a scam shop. Avoid at all costs.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff were visibly distracted -- chatting and laughing among themselves -- and barely acknowledged me. I had to stand up multiple times to ensure I hadn't been forgotten. No one communicated an estimated wait time, and after 40 minutes, someone finally brought me to the back. Dr. Higgins briefly examined my mouth and recommended a 3D scan. I asked about the cost before proceeding -- both he and the assisting nurse failed to answer. After the scan, I was placed in a treatment room where a staff member, Sandy, presented me with a tablet to sign for nearly $2,000 in charges -- without Dr. Higgins having reviewed the scan with me or discussed any treatment plan. When I expressed concern and asked to speak with the doctor, Sandy appeared annoyed but left to retrieve him -- only to return alone and hand me the tablet to sign again. I refused to sign. Dr. Higgins eventually came in. I asked to review the scan together and hear his clinical assessment. He was unable to pull up the scan on the in-room computer where the root canal would've taken place and had to seat me in an outside chair to view it. The actual consultation lasted approximately five minutes. When I asked about next steps -- specifically the cost of a crown, which I learned would be performed by a separate dentist, Dr. Paek -- Sandy initially told me she couldn't provide that figure because it wasn't currently on my dental plan. Only after I pushed back did she produce a total: nearly $4,000. I asked to speak directly with Dr. Paek to discuss the crown before making any decisions. Sandy assured me I could, and had a nurse escort me to the front desk. There, three staff members sat in front of their computers staring at the schedule screen -- no movement, no eye contact, no acknowledgment as I approached and spoke to them. I paid the $385 I was told covered both the consultation and the 3D scan, and was informed the scan would be shared with me digitally. When I asked about speaking with Dr. Paek, I was told he was with a patient. I said I was happy to wait, and one of the front desk assistants -- without looking up -- told me flatly that he would be busy for an hour and a half. I left without having spoken with him. About an hour after leaving, I received an email stating the office had "graciously waived" the $250 3D scan fee -- implying I still owed it. When I returned to clarify, I learned that the $385 is a standard consultation fee alone for Dr Higgins, and the $250 is a separate, additional charge for the scan -- the opposite of what I had been told at checkout and I could've had this cost before any consultation and scan was done, and would've chosen not to do it. The lack of upfront cost transparency, the pressure to sign financial agreements before any clinical discussion had taken place, and the consistently dismissive attitude toward a patient's reasonable questions were deeply concerning. At every touchpoint -- from the front desk, to the treatment room, to checkout -- staff showed little regard for clear communication or basic courtesy. I was relocated another room, which was fine. They started the procedure. But then, the owner Sushma Halthore barged into the room, in the middle of my procedure, demanding I leave!! For what I asked, in a state of complete bafflement. She rambled on about how she spent a lot of money updating the place, saying that there was no noise in the room. There was. It was not a question. Then she suggested something about abusing clients, which is bizarre, as I did not see any other clients there. Then she said she was going to call my insurance company and tell them what happened, in a threatening tone!!! Call them for What??? Why??? It was the most insane, ridiculous, unprofessional, exchange I have ever had, ever. The backstory- I went to have a cap replaced last month. A few days later, pain started build on that tooth. I came for a follow up today, and all he could say was that whoever initially put the cap in messed it up. I asked. "wouldn't you have seen this on the X-rays you took last month"!!. He simply could not answer that questions. There is no other back story. I am not leaving anything out. Sushma Halthore simply barge in and demanded I leave in the middle of a procedure. I am not sure if this woman has mental issues, regardless, it is not cool to throw your patients out in the middle of a procedure. Her insane reaction has prompted me to investigate her practice in more detail, as this was NOT a normal visit to the dentist. I have a lot of questions about the credentials of their staff She does not understand that I put considerable time and effort into finding and getting this practice authorized by my medical plan. It took months to arrange, then weeks to get the procedures authorized. So she just competently wasted months of everyone's time and effort, including her own and her staff. Given that this seems to be a complete one off misunderstanding of the situation by the owner, I will give Sushma Halthore the opportunity to apologies for her outrageous behaviour. Otherwise I will be escalating her questionable business practice's operations to the relevant medical and legal authorities.
