I found Hair by Julianne Cho and was booked with Sumi, and I'm so glad I trusted her! Sumi was incredibly sweet, patient, and attentive throughout the entire appointment. She actually recommended a softer, wavier perm, but I kept insisting I wanted it curlier (lol). She listened to exactly what I wanted while still giving me honest professional advice, which I really appreciated. She also recommended getting a haircut beforehand, and I'm SO glad I listened. I have really thick hair with a lot of density, and she spent about 40 minutes cutting it. She didn't rush at all and was so meticulous. She removed just enough weight while keeping my length, added beautiful long layers, and gave my hair so much more movement and dimension. The perm came out exactly how I was hoping! My hair feels so much lighter, the curls are beautiful, and I'm honestly obsessed with the result. I drove about an hour from the Valley, and it was 100% worth it. Parking was easy, the salon was clean and adorable, and they even had snacks and drinks for clients. Overall such a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again. Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I will definitely be back!

I ended up booking for Wednesday afternoon, parked nearby the coffee shop. Wasn't a busy day. Arlene is such a hair expert! I told her I prefer short hair for the volume and she showed me some ideas. We decided that a short bob would be best to fix my mess! She did a fantastic job fixing up the uneven pieces, making sure to fix the bangs so it would grow out nicely. She also showed me how to style it at home, since short hair is high maintenance. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'll definitely be back when it's time to trim. Hopefully by then I will have learned my lesson!

Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. If she is so experienced and so great she should have known better and know that the process she was doing would ruin my hair. This is my warning to others that are going here to have straightening done. Don't rely on her to tell you it's not right for your hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

I specifically said I was willing to pay the extra because I did not want yellow or orange roots. Not only did my roots remain yellow after processing and toner, but since the appointment I now have noticeable breakage on the bottom of my hair that was not present beforehand. My hair appear fragile and uneven, and my hair feels significantly thinner since this appointment. I can't even run my fingers through it .......it feels extremely dry, rough, and damaged. During styling, I also received a burn on my ear from her curling iron. When I raised concerns about the color result. It was dismissed rather than addressed. She told me it was impossible to get my roots bright blonde with regrowth this long....... after already charging me extra for the double process and assuring me it could be done. This service was performed by Jaime, the owner. I am now left with breakage in the back, damaged hair, and yellow roots.

My feet have been through it the last couple of years (sports) and I wanted to get serious about caring for them properly, not just getting them painted. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

Unexpected Charges and Lack of Transparency…read more I booked my appointment in person on Tuesday 7/15 because I wasn't sure what to select online for Gel-X removal. I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

Had concerns with my first gel-x experience. It was painful. The tech didn't listen to my requests…read more I did. I was unhappy with the service but still paid full price and tipped accordingly. I came back for a refill, and two days later was in some of the most pain I've ever been in due to a cuticle infection. I voiced concerns that my skin was being cut, but they were shrugged off. After coming into the salon to show them the infection, the front desk staff was polite and helpful advising they would reach out to the owner and share photos they took of the nail. Days passed and I followed up again via phone as I didn't hear back. The owner of the salon requested PHI pertaining to the infection, including what Rx I was on, in order to even consider a refund. Initially, a gift card for the amount spent on the service was offered in lieu of a refund. I mentioned I was not comfortable receiving another service, and received a call back letting me know the owner was willing to grant a refund. Overall, the back and forth took about a week and a half. I was new to the entire gelx process, and am posting this review to let anyone else looking to embark on that journey know they should ask questions and voice their concerns. There are seemingly many happy patrons, but this was my individual experience.

Jersi is fantastic! I haven't had a haircut in 2 years. Busy with kids and work, I never found the time to get my hair done. After letting my hair grow down to my waist with no movement in it at all and hair looking like that of a student, I decided it was time for a change. I called, made an appointment with Jersi. When I arrived, I expected to be intimidated by a large salon with impersonal service, but to the contrary, I arrived into a beautiful boutique salon. It was cozy, quiet and peaceful. It made me feel like he was there just to take care of me. Jersi proceeded to consult me patiently on what he tought would work best for my lifestyle and for the look I wanted to achieve. After a great shampoo and a perfect cut, he styled my hair to perfection. I was so nervous at first, but when I saw the finish, I was so relieve, excited and happy. You have to see this guy. I got a referral to come and see Jersi specifically for a high-lights. So I did! This guy is great! Very professional, will give all his attention and care to you, goes above and beyond in regards with customer service! My hair is fine, straight and long and I usually do partial high-lights mostly touching the top of my head. What I really liked is that Jersi seems to know very well how to differentiate different type of hair and its structure and he used proper formula and kept processing my hair for only 20-25 minutes, other more coarser and darker hair needed a bit longer time. As a result my hair looks great, beautiful natural blonde color,not "over fried" and feels healthy. Oh, and let me tell you he also generously used all the products on my hair shampoo,conditioner,hair mask, hair oil. I left very satisfied and as you can see on photos below very happy! read more

I LOVE Jersi! I was visiting LA for a few days, and needed some hair help asap. After wandering around Westwood for half an hour I finally found Jersi, and asked for a Brazillian Blow Out and style cut. It was the best hair service I've ever had. Hands down the best hair cut I've had, and the blow out worked so well on my hair (afro hair that I usually chemically straighten). My hair was so shiny and soft, and I've had the best compliments on my cut! I can't thank Jersi enough. As jersi says. Fantastico he is 100% correct. Never had just a great Brazilian, haircut and blow dry in Los Angeles. He is a perfectionist. Doesn't rush you in or out. He made sure my hair was very conditioned and it felt more healthy than it had j in years! I didn't know my hair could feel so good! I wanted to do this review after I washed my hair for the first time to see how it would feel and whether it returned to curls or not! It has a little wave in it but it's so much better and easier to manage being straight than curly! Curly hair is very high maintenance and I just never knew what to do with my hair so I mostly just put it in a ponytail! With my straight hair, it dries in 30-45 minutes and I use a dry cream and it works just as good as a flatiron! I am sure it would probably be straighter if I kept using a flatiron and sometimes I will but I am trying to keep my hair as healthy as possible! It has helped me with taking snapchats and doing my acting and social media! Makes doing my hair so much easier and I always loved having it done! Now I remember why! I am so glad my hair didn't fall off since I accidentally allowed a different stylist from another salon bleach my hair lighter and apparently doing that and then getting this treatment done can damage the hair! Thank You so so much to you Hiroshi for making sure my hair was protected and for being so careful with it! Not everyone would be so attentive and to anyone wanting this treatment or coloring, I do definitely recommend Hiroshi and the stylists here! You will be in good hands! I love my hair! Specifically, what was deemed to be a "cowlick" creating an uneven cut requiring daily, highly skillful, exhausting blow dry technique. As I confirmed consult, I recalled what Albert Einstein paraphrased, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Time for professional fresh eyes, time for a professional fresh skill set, time for different results. In my anxiety, sleeplessness (yes, I lost sleep over this), I allowed five months of growth to take over. (I know, I know, first world problem, I'm a "Karen".) Consult. "J" listened, absorbed my words. "J" looked at my photos, the history of my hair, astutely observed. "J" assessed the mop of outgrowth before her. "J" with honesty, transparency, agreed to try, to correct with no guarantees. Me too. Booked a cut with "J". Another sleepless night in anticipation of a salon experience of the past. NOT. Double Hair Salon is the antithesis of prior such. Quiet. Clean. Completely Zen. The kid was unsure exactly of what was happening, but didn't scream, which I saw as a great sign. With me, Sri has to spend at least 40 minutes cutting, thinning, shearing and straightening. With my son, she pulled out clippers and her scissors, and got his hair looking more orderly within 12 minutes. She even managed to blow dry his hair a little on low heat in order to do some touch ups. This is what to expect: * There is one of those IKEA tables in the waiting area. There are a handful of toys, plus a bin of crayons. We prepared a snack for the kid to eat in advance. *Sri will cut the kid's hair while the kid is seated on your lap. * She will use clippers to get the bulk of the hair cut out. This scared my son a little. The hair cut is $25 plus tip. Worth every cent.
