Kind people. I love that. The place itself is inviting and feels extremely unique. It was setup and decorated with care. You walk in and you're in a different place. You forget you're in a shopping center and that this is a storefront restaurant. The mint tea lemonade drink they serve...? DO NOT think twice about trying it. I'm not usually one for minty stuff, but this drink is absolutely phenomenal. What about the food, you ask...? Well, this is officially my place in all of Tampa Bay to eat Mediterranean food. And I've tried many that are absolutely delicious. But Jerusalem beats them all out. The meats are truly, expertly cooked, with flavors that give you that food high that leaves you feeling amazing after the meal. But then the sides are equally impressive. Everything down to their salads is fresh and packed with flavor and nuance. I have not had a bad thing on this menu. It's all been amazing. Oh... try their baklava. Delicious Mediterranean food right here in Brandon - including fresh falafel, which is hard to come by! We ordered the Sampler so we could try a little bit of the basics on our first time visit. The sampler included hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel and pita - the baba ghanouj was the stand out. Pure deliciousness - just the right amount of garlic. :) We also enjoyed the lentil soup too - the owner came by our table to check in with us and was super excited for us to try it as she let us know she adds cilantro as her special touch. I believe that I will try it again. My wife was not impressed with her salad. My sandwich was tasteful, but I'm not sure what it was missing. The workers were quite hospitable to my wife, but ignoring me. So my rating includes that also. My gyro was good. It wasn't one of the best that I've had in Tampa Bay. However, I'd consider giving it another try. The place was adorned with Jewish items well. I didn't get the feel of Jerusalem. However, that's common. Someone who may have never gone to Israel, would appreciate the decorations a bit more. One thing I noticed right away was the amount of people in the restaurant and how busy it was in there. My waitress told me about what drinks were available and I got the mint lemonade which is so good. I was served an appetizer of stewed tomatoes with olives and pita bread. I ordered the hummus with pita. The hummus has a little kick with it. For my early dinner, I got the chicken shawarma which freshly made and seasoned well. I have to say, Jerusalem has some of the best pita and it's freshly made and just wonderful. The restaurant is nicely decorated and music is playing. I was in town visiting my sister and brother in law and wow! What a find! The restaurant itself is spotless and charmingly decorated and most importantly the Yelp reviews didn't disappoint! This might be the best Mediterranean food I've ever tried. I'm usually not a big baba ghanoush or falafel fan, but I loved both at this restaurant. Everything we tried was so moist and flavorful and the portions didn't disappoint either. Service was great also. Everyone was friendly and helpful with the recommendations. It's all true! This is the kind family that would always offer samples of their wonderful food inside the Al Madina grocery store. Everything they cooked was made with love, and then I found out they were no longer there. They now have their own restaurant. I'm so happy for them! What's even better is that it's now in my neighborhood in Valrico (at Plaza Bella on Bloomingdale Avenue). Yay! It can't get better than this. The food was just as wonderful today. Actually, it was even better. The dining area is much larger with lots of booth seating. The kitchen is spacious and open. The décor is on point with displays of different items for purchase such as Alameed Coffee and local pita bread from Ramallah Market Bakery. It all looks great! I'm not going to bore you with the details. Just read my review from Al Madina. Anyone who lives here locally knows about their amazing chimichurri sauce. You can't go wrong ordering anything with that sauce. The Hummus & Baba Ghannouj are so full of flavor. The taste of the grilled meats (no matter what you get) is delightful. I tried their Lebanese garlic yogurt dip, and I couldn't resist adding it to my Chicken Shawarma. It was all great, and with huge portions of meat. As I was finishing up my meal, one of the owners came by with a sample of her freshly made cashew baklawa. It was heavenly! I ended up getting 6 more to take home with me (3 cashew and 3 pistachio). My husband already wants more. He especially loved the cashew one, but I love them both. They have a whole case full of desserts. Oh, and they are going to add Kunafa soon. What a treat! Everything is amazing here. HOMEMADE food with quality ingredients (not frozen restaurant supply mystery food). First of all, the grape leaves. If you're middle eastern at all, these are the best you're gonna find unless you can make them better yourself. They're warm and big and soooo flavorful. The meat is always done right. Never overcooked or dry. The sides are flavorful. The salad dressing is truly homemade. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. It's a true family operation which is refreshing. They also cater! They used to be inside Al Madina and finally got their own full service restaurant! Well worth the wait during the transition. The ambiance is nice. Everything is very clean. Doesn't smell like the Spanish floor cleaner like most restaurants in Tampa. They decorated it well. They play good Arabic music. You have to try it all. So I'll be honest I have never had Jerusalem food before and when we walked in the restaurant the visual vibe was ok. The establishment was super clean and it smelled good. So we sat down and immediately got attended too, I have got to say that the Burger and chimichurri steak sandwich were out of the park. The pita bread served with olive oil and tzatziki sauce was incredible. When we finished up and went to pay they had a hot case with other types of food. The Owner was there and was so nice we talked about how long they been open and I asked what was in the hot case. She said lentil soup and some wild rice of some sort, she asked if I wanted to taste the soup, being full I said maybe just a small amount. She grabbed a little plate and served me some lentils soup which was super tasteful. I will be back! read more
