It reeks of DEI incompetence…read more First, last December 4, after being diagnosed with cataracts by Clemson Eye Powdersville and referred to the Easley office, The Easley office examined me and I was told by a so called "counselor" that I had six months to make a decision regarding surgery type. I waited until May 4 and called Clemson Eye to schedule my surgery. I was then told by a Clemson Eye representative that I only had a three month window and I would have to be re-examined before surgery could be scheduled. Thinking that I had misunderstood my initial instructions I let this person schedule me for another examination on June 18. I showed up for this exam and met with another "counselor" that I did indeed have a six month window but since it was now (6/18) past the six month window I would have to be reexamined at my expense before surgery could be scheduled. After completing the examination I again met with this "counselo"r to schedule my surgery. Surgery was scheduled for 7/1/26 and 7/6/26. Now this inept group knew at the outset that I have a severe heart condition (medical history disclosure that I had to fill out for both Powdersville and Easley location). I was given a form for my cardiologist to fill out indicating my fitness for this surgery which Upstate Cardiology did indicating that they saw no undue risk with me having this surgery. On Wednesday 6/24 I received a call from Piedmont surgery (the outpatient surgery center that Clemson Eye Easley uses) informing me that I had been rejected for surgery because my heart ejection fraction was too "low". They indicated that I would be contacted by CE easley regarding what I could do going forward. Cee "counselor" did contact me with an apology but had no clue what I could do to get my surgery. These "counselors" are obviously not in possession of basic information required to be communicated to the patient. They are useless. This ejection fraction requirement should have been communicated to me back in November (Powdersville) and December (Easley appt.)Had this been properly handled at least I would not have been led down this rabbit hole and then abandoned. And they refuse to reimburse me for the useless second exam. As I stated at the start of this review, this is the most inept professional organization that I have ever encountered. Actual opthamologists/surgeons may be ok but the office is incompetent. As a final note my 'counselor"tried to sell me some eyedrops that I would need before the surgery for$45-$50. I( had the prescription called in to CVS and Medicare paid 100%. This was after they had already charged me $42 for a little bag that contained some safety glasses and a bottle of some type of antiseptic. Obvious money grab. Incompetent group to be avoided at all costs

Heitman, Hack and Williams for complex eye problems. And in every case, at every visit, I have been struck by their kindness, compassion and their extraordinary professionalism. All the staff have treated me with that same consideration. I have friends who have gone there for years--and all say the same about their doctors and their experience. During my last visit, I mentioned to Dr Williams that I had recently told a friend that if I ever need us spirit lift, all I'd have to do is stop in Southern Eye! She is a thorough professional who really strives to help her patients. She has helped me deal with the issue of dry eyes and minimal eye pain. Her attitude and care for detail is evident. Her staff is very friendly and helpful. I love these people. The only negative is she always runs a little late so make the first appointment you can get on a day.

The first day I had to go to this office I did have to wait a long time to be seen (I was there for close to three hours) but it was an emergency appointment and that was understandable. They fit me in for surgery the next day at the Bon Secours downtown hospital DURING A SNOW STORM. And in the weeks after my surgery, I was extremely anxious and every single time they did what they could to fit me in and double and triple check the issues I was having. I was extremely apologetic every single time because this is the first time I had gone through something like this and as an anxious person in general, I am sure I was more than a little bit extra, but they were never anything but kind, helpful, and informative. My main doctor is Dr Feldman and he has truly been amazing throughout this difficult experience. I was also unfortunate enough to have this happen when I was out of my insurance network (traveling from out of state) and the people working in the finance department have been extremely helpful and understanding as I fight with my insurance about payment. I am also not the first member of my family who has been a patient here and my sister also has nothing but great things to say.

He makes you feel really comfortable and I always have a few laughs with him. His office is located in Walmart, but he's not part of Walmart. He does not take insurance, but you can take your prescription anywhere you want. The wait is never long to see him, while you're there there is always some good music playing in the office.
