Working with Emel has been one of the biggest breakthroughs in my healing journey. As soon as I…read moreread her website I knew that Emel understood many of my struggles at a deep level and that somatic healing work with her was what I needed. Seriously - just read her website and you'll understand, she gets it and has a uniquely effective approach! I have worked with so many practitioners on physical, mental, energetic, and nervous system healing, but I needed her somatic healing approach to connect the pieces and dive deeper to truly understand and break free from the pain, trauma, and patterns I was stuck in. Emel truly cares, is extremely empathetic, and works hard to understand the full picture and the root cause of issues. She made it easy to open up to her and to myself, allowing me to better understand myself, my patterns, and my triggers/reactions. Each session varies depending on my needs or desired focus, ranging from somatic healing, energy flow, and visualization work to more traditional talk therapy. The results of working with Emel were immediate and ongoing: relief from physical pain caused by stuck energy, emotions, or tension, as well as minimization of triggers, anxiety, depression, and other patterns I was stuck in. I cannot recommend working with Emel enough, regardless of what you are going through! Thank you Emel!

About a year ago, my spouse and I spent nearly $3,000 on couples counseling with Estee. When the…read morecounseling ended, I actually believed it had been helpful, because I had come to believe that our marital problems were almost entirely my fault. However, over the following year, I gradually realized that our marriage had not meaningfully improved despite the counseling. One of the strongest messages I took away from the sessions was that my family of origin and my relationship with my parents were the primary causes of our marital problems. This did not only lead me to feel guilty and blame myself; it also caused me to blame my family and my parents. The emotional impact became so significant that I eventually sought individual therapy to work through those feelings. I believe Estee genuinely wanted to help us, and I do not question her intentions. However, her approach was not effective for me and maybe someone else has similar background like me. If you come from an East Asian family and place great importance on your relationship with your parents and family of origin, I would encourage you to consider carefully whether this counseling approach is the right fit for you. Different therapists have different perspectives, and this particular approach was not a good match for my background or my needs. Finally, I respectfully ask that Estee not contact me regarding this review. I have worked hard to recover from the guilt, self-blame, and family-related conflict that I experienced after counseling, and I do not wish to revisit those feelings through further discussion.

I first reached out to Kevin Kuhlow nearly three years ago to seek help with alcohol dependence…read more As a working professional, I did not feel like some of the other recovery programs out there were the right fit for me. Alcohol had, however, begun to have a negative impact on my life and marriage, and I desperately wanted to break free of the grip that alcohol dependence had on me. Through weekly one-on-one meetings with Kevin and later men's group meetings, I began to better understand myself and how I had come to rely on alcohol as a tool to deal with a wide variety of life experiences. What had started as a seemingly enjoyable social activity in high school and college had become an unmanageable nuisance in my life as I neared 40 years old. I had come to depend on it as a necessity for everything from celebrating, trying to relax/unwind, trying to blow off steam from work stress, or just generally trying to ignore my problems like finances, personal insecurities, self-doubt, etc. As it turns out, it was not a very effective tool for managing any of those things. My counselling sessions with Kevin have equipped me with all of the tools and strategies used by some of the world's top performers to achieve success in business, finance, athletic performance, and physical/mental health. We actually don't talk too much about alcohol in most sessions. It is more about goal-setting, identifying and pursuing the things you are passionate about, communication, honesty, checking in with yourself, and learning to recognize and appropriately manage stress and difficult situations. I am proud to say that I am nearly three years alcohol-free today and have grown more as a person and experienced a much more fulfilling life in that time than ever before. I have found renewed passion and sense of purpose in many activities such as running, rockhounding, photography, camping, fishing, reading, and spending much higher-quality time with family and friends. It has been a profound paradigm-shift in my life and I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be and doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing with my life. I feel like I am finally on the outside looking in on my previous self and have no desire to return to that way of life. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Kevin for all I have accomplished in the last three years, who I am today, and the future I now envision.

We joke about it all these years later, but coming back for those follow up sessions would be exactly what I needed and truthfully, what I was lacking in my life. Whitney embodies compassion, care, empathy, and love and provides the safety of allowing me to show up as I am on any given day ready to help me unpack whatever I bring her. I came to her at a point in my life when I had shattered as a person. She has been by my side through some incredibly challenging times and there isn't anyone else that I would want in my corner when life happens. Whitney is an incredible therapist. If you are looking for someone who will see you as you are, accept you as you are, and who will walk by your side as you navigate the triumphs and challenges life throws at you, she is the one you need. I think she's pretty amazing and am thankful for her every day.

I tried one avenue, but it just didn't work. So I went on a search for a different therapist. And that search went on day after day, hour after hour. I spoke to some, but nothing ever felt like it was the right fit. Until one day, when I was feeling defeated, I stumbled upon Whitney. I took a look at her website and read her reviews and felt hopeful for the first time in days. From the moment I first spoke to Whitney, I knew she was the one to help me. Two years later, and I can say with absolute certainty that choosing Whitney to be my therapist was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Whitney is compassionate, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. She knows how to create a warm, comfortable and supportive environment where you feel safe to tell her all your thoughts and feelings. She's patient and kind, and never gives up on finding ways to help you. She has been such a positive light in my life, and has helped me overcome so much. While I'm still a work in progress, it's all thanks to Whitney that I have made it this far. And that is why I recommend and will always recommend Whitney. If you're looking for someone to help you get back onto the path to happiness, you've found her.
