Dr. Gallina was highly recommended to be by several people. I am so happy with the care I received from Dr. Gallina, as well as her staff. My entire life is sports, training, and movement. I also have a very demanding job that requires me to be on my feet 12+ hours a day. I injured my ankle rock climbing and feared it would never be the same. I had surgery with Dr. Gallina a few months ago and I can finally say I am almost back to where I was before I was injured. I also know I will get back to me pre injury state. I have zero pain after my 12 hour shifts and I am back in the gym lifting heavy. Dr. Gallina was patient, kind, and took the time to listen to me and communicate with me what her expectations were. In addition, her staff was friendly and kind. They were very good at returning calls and communicating with me in regards to my pre-op/post-op needs. I've already referred my neighbor who is equally as pleased with the amount and quality of time that Dr. Gallina spends with her patients during a visit. Never rushed, always with attention to detail, and yet rarely keeps you waiting. I was referred to her by my sports physical therapist, who told me that she had some of the most successful and quick post-ops they have seen. I'm an avid skier and following ACL knee surgery I wanted to make sure that my recent ankle surgery didn't take me out for another season. I couldn't give a stronger review!! I feel bad having to knock off a star....but now that I've found a doctor who figured out the issue after asking a few simple questions, seems like a podiatrist should have thought to ask the same questions, and be guided to the same prognosis. The core of my current issue derives from a history of severe sprains and ligament tears as an adolescent and young adult which were never followed up with PT after they healed. Not something I'd think would affect the feet one-to-two decades after the fact. But makes sense that a podiatrist would immediately think to inquire about such things. Mind you, Dr. Gallina was very nice/warm/welcoming, she responded to my follow up emails after I reported the diagnosis given by the neurologist she recommended, and she really seemed like she was giving me all that came to mind for her. Still, a few simple questions missed resulted in multiple unnecessary tests. No one is perfect, and doctors will always eventually miss something with some patient. You may not be that patient for Dr. Gallina. But I can't give 4-stars to a doc who missed the root of my problem. read more

No communication...never requested my MRI from my orthopedic so left weeks without knowing my injury. Was told by my good orthopedic that I fractured ankle abs tore tendons. They never called me back and left me in unknown after telling me maybe surgery maybe not. Informed after that CD from orthopedic never arrived but found out later they never requested it. Dr. Gallina never even reached out to me so what a way to treat any patient just leave them injured without care. Horrible. read more

Overbooks. I visited her once. I waited for 45 minutes and then told the receptionists that I can't wait any longer for a consultation appointment. Two other people in the reception area said that there wait time there is consistently two hours. I told them that they shouldn't accept that. The receptionist ushered me into an empty room and said I was next. At 55 minutes I put my jacket on. At the 1 hour mark the doctor walked in and I said that I had to go, and told her she unacceptably overbooked. She said she had two emergency visits that day and I said you have to accommodate for those every day. She asked if I'd like her to just take a look at my foot. I said if you did that then I'd be paying you to 'just take a look' at my foot - which has zero value to me. She should get with the program and start running her practice based on quality of care, vs. quantify of patients. read more

After my podiatrist told me I had arthritis and a fractured ankle that would require 6 weeks in a giant moon boot, my physical therapist suggested I get a second opinion. I went to Jessica and right away she sat me down and walked me through everything showing me the MRI to explain that where my fracture was it had already healed the best it could and that there were no signs of arthritis. I had been stressed for the past 4 weeks (how long i had been wearing the boot) she was genuinely sorry that I got the wrong information and made me feel confident with a great understanding of what my options were when it comes to my ankle. Since I am not in pain we aren't doing surgery but if I ever did need it I'd definitely go to Dr. Gallina. read more

There just are no words to truly show how much I appreciate Dr Gallina. She truly is a great doctor who cares about her patients. She's been treating me and seeing me for a fractured foot/plantar issue and she's just been amazing. I haven't fully healed and she took the time to call me and give me her cell # in case I had any problems and even made time to see me today to check my foot out again, even though she was fully booked and that really meant a lot to me. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would! She has now completed 2 surgeries for me on my ankle and although they have both been painful in nature, she has been there every step of the process to help me through it. My only complaint is the wait time in her NY office, some days I am seen within 15 minutes, other times I have waited for up to 90 min. That being said, she is worth waiting for. She is competent, thorough and really one of the nicest people I have ever met. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Gallina was my surgeon in 2007 when I fell off my bike at high speed and wrecked my right ankle. Lucky for me, Dr. Gallina was on call that morning when I was brought into the Roosevelt Hospital ER. I had surgery that afternoon and Dr. Gallina continued to see me over the next few months as I recovered. Considering the severity of the break I could understand if my ankle weren't in great shape, but here I am eleven years later and I'd put my ankle at 98 - 99% of what it was and that's just because it was such a bad break. I'd put my satisfaction with Dr. Gallina's work at 100%. Since my surgery, on two separate occasions I've mentioned Dr. Gallina to emergency techs in New York and they've told me how lucky I was to draw her for my case. I agree completely! Awful Dr. office. After confirming I would only owe a co-pay they proceeded to charge me more because their rate is higher than the negotiated rate with the insurance company. Their stance is that they have 'no way of knowing' about my deductible, but they ABSOLUTELY know that their rate is higher than the contracted rate, and choose to not respect the patient's right to know if they'd potentially incur additional costs. I credit Dr. Gallina for relieving me of a bunion that I thought was going to cause me pain and suffering for the rest of my life. I truly thank her for excellent care from the first visit, through surgery and recovery. She is so knowledgeable about her specialty in foot and ankle care, I strongly recommend anyone to schedule an appointment with her. The surgery was not stressful, but the pain and recovery time is rather long, since my foot was in need of dramatic repair. I went to see Dr. Galina for a second opinion because I had broken two bones in my left foot and had been seeing a podiatrist. She sent me for a CT scan and when she finally contacted me - via email no less - she said I didn't need surgery - I should stop wearing the boot and start physical therapy. She wrote should I have any questions, please email her. I did email her with several questions like - I need a referral for physical therapy etc. She never - I repeat - never wrote back!!! so I wrote her back and said thanks for your prompt reply - your services will no longer be needed. That was in November. Last week I get a bill for $261 - $50 of which is for co-insurance which I paid at the visit - and then I was billed for treatment!!! she did nothing in the exam room but look at the foot!! she was trying to bill me for something that never happened! I was livid and immediately called the billing dept and then my insurance company with whom I filed a formal complaint against the doctor. I just heard from the billing office and they say I owe them $50.00. I just checked my bank statement and I paid it - as I knew I did - on the day I saw the doctor!! outrageous!! I will also report Dr. Galina to the better business bureau. Do not go to this doctor. read more

I would send anyone to Dr. Gallina for foot and ankle work: she is excellent. After seeing a really unhelpful doctor who barely scanned my X-rays, it was gratifying to see her closely examine my X-rays and my history. She offered a couple options, but strongly recommended surgery. When I was hesitant because of my shitty insurance, she went to great lengths to work with me--she talked to the hospital for me so I could set up a discounted payment plan, she talked to her billing service for me to give me discounts, and she set up a physical therapy plan post-surgery with a therapist who also was extremely generous with the discounts. Very down to earth, intelligent, good sense of humor, obviously well respected and liked by her colleagues. She did an excellent job in surgery, and in follow-up appointments. read more

Very small, hot, cramped waiting room area. Receptionist (person you deal with when you check in) is VERY rude. They have an odd system of not answering the phone but rather leaving a message when trying to book an appointment. They get very backed up. I finally made it into a patient room 60 minutes after my appointment. Answered various questions from a nurse or someone and then saw the doctor 85 minutes after the actual appointment. Someone's appointment was 10 min before mine yet arrived 20 minutes late for it, got in before me. You may as well show up late as they see patients VERY behind schedule and don't base when the doc sees you on your arrival time but rather your appointment time. Again, receptionist is VERY rude. Doctor was very nice, knowledgeable, great. Just unfortunate the wait was so long and the receptionist is so rude. read more

Dr. Gallina is truly the BEST doctor!!! I had 2 ankle replacements, first surgery in March 2015 and the other ankle in January 2016 and I couldn't be more happier with the results. One of the worst doctors EVER! I was referred to her by another doctor. I arrived at her office about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment to fill out forms. I sat in the waiting room for an hour. People who arrived after me were seen by the doctor before me. Finally they took me into an exam room where I waited another 20 minutes. My MRI was sent to her by my original doctor but she never reviewed them. She gave me a prescription to get another MRI at a different facility. She told me I should start PT. I asked her if she could refer me to a PT place on the Upper East side as that is where I work and live. She said she has 2 great people on the east side and her front desk would give me that info. After I left the office I looked at the PT info and both therapists were located on the West side. I had to call the office and then email to get a therapist on the east side. I didn't want to start PT before my MRI as whenever I rubbed my foot the pain became worse. I went for me MRI and waited 3 WEEKS and still no phone call from the doctor. I called her office and they said that I had to call for my results. They never told me this and The Doctors I have dealt with in the past ALWAYS call you when they receive the results. The receptions said you are in luck tomorrow Wednesday is when she calls patients to go over their films. They would not give me a time of this call just anytime between 9-5. needless to say 5:00 comes and no call. I call the office after 5:00 and they had gone for the day. I call the next day and they said she would call me back which she did later that afternoon. When she called she was very curt and short. She said don't do PT as that would harm my injury and she said just keep doing what you are doing and walk in the shoes you are walking in. WOW she was a great help. That is sarcasm. She did nothing for me accept waste my time and money. On top of all of this a few months later I received a bill from her. I called the number on the bill and said I paid my office visit on the day of the appointment. They said this bill was for the follow up phone call. You can imagine what I said after that. Needless to say they removed the charge. I find it hard to believe she has a practice. if I could give zero stars I would. read more
