My family and I recently stayed in PC. On our last day of the trip, we took the Jet to PIB. The boat was clean and right on time. Our tickets were for 11:00am departure and we pulled away from the dock at 11:01am. Arrival was as promised at 11:25. Great friendly crew. That said, the prices are a bit expensive but it's a fast ride. We did not pre book our return trip as we were unsure of when we would want to come back. There is a significant savings if you do this. We foolishly opted to do 2 separate tickets for flexibility, later learning that we could exchange a pre purchased return ticket for a later boat provided there was room. We should have done that- so know that going in if you are unsure of your return time. It'll save about $10-12 per adult ticket. I believe a normal adult is around $33 and this brings the return down to around $22-23 each. Other than that, it's a boat. Safe operation, no frills, bathrooms are that of a necessity but not unclean if needed. Enjoy the ride! read more

Always love the Jet! My group was running late, twice (somehow) for the Sandusky boat downtown. We called the Port Clinton location and we were told that we could get our tickets switched. We showed up with a few minutes to spare due to traffic and The Walleye Festival and they exchanged our tickets for us with no hassle. They even had the boat wait a couple of extra minutes for us which we are entirely thankful for! Everyone is always so friendly and kind. Always clean and no issues all the way around. I'll always recommend the Jet if you're looking for the quickest way to the islands. read more

Terrible experience wore our mask since it was crowded there was no where to sit and someone asked us to sit next to us when there was no room. We told them we are social distancing and she proceeded to sit on my wife until she scoooted over . Talked crap the whole time telling us she was going to cough on us and we shouldn't be out if we wanted to wear a mask. Tried not to engage and we asked one for the crew members for help and he say there and did absolutely nothing but smile the whole time and watch us argue with this lady. Professional crew, flexible ticketing, decent service. Thought the adult ticket price of $34 round trip was high, but the Youth and Children's rates were fair. Their website booking portal is jacked up. It's starts Monday instead of most calendars that start Sunday, so it's really easy to pick the wrong day if you're booking in a hurry. A quick call fixed everything. We really liked that they boarded on time and didn't mess around. A sense of urgency and efficiency very similar to Southwest Airlines. Very quick turns with little waiting. The restrooms were clean and the waiting area had some bench seating. It's choose your own seats on the ferry and you can move around. On our return all the outdoor benches were scorching hot from the heat of the sun. We chose to sat inside and it was a quick and comfortable ride back from the islands to Port Clinton. read more

I don't have much ferry riding experience, but this seemed pretty good. Fastest and I'm guessing the most fun way over to the island. The other ferry is way slower, but it is your only option if you need to take a vehicle over. I bought a midweek package for two adults online that included a golf cart. Seemed like a good value. Our ferry over was pretty packed. At least one person took a big dog. The ferry had three decks and I think every seat was taken. Lower decks are air conditioned. I sat topside with the sun and wind. Underway, the ferry sails at like 35 mph. It was fun. The ferry on the trip back only had two decks. Just as packed as the bigger one, though. Only thing I can recommend is to take the earliest ferry possible. I think you'll have the fewest aggravations with waiting and people that way. My boyfriend and I wanted to go up to PIB for the weekend to get away from PC for a bit so we took the Jet. We bought round-trip tickets online which was very convenient, but also all about playing a guessing game as you had to choose what time you wanted to come back and we weren't sure how long we were going to stay up there initially. It all worked out time-wise for us though and it was very nice to have ordered ahead of time and they had the tickets ready for us at will call when we departed PC for PIB. It seemed like the boat was a little packed, aren't they limiting the amount of people on the boats as they state on their website? We got stuck unfortunately next to some rowdy college kids on the boat which was pretty unpleasant, but that is to be expected going up to the islands on a weekend. Halfway through the boat ride, a spot opened up outside so we stood for the rest of the journey and the views were gorgeous. Overall, I recommend taking the Jet if you're going up to the islands to drink and just taking a golf cart and it runs later for your convenience than the other ferry services. I would definitely use them again to go up to the islands when we go later this season. read more

Sad that they put profits over safety. I bought round trip tickets to Put in Bay for my sister and I for a mid-September trip, then I contracted COVID. The B and B on the island was very understanding and cancelled our reservation without batting an eye. I contacted Jet Express and told them of my diagnosis and asked if I could have a credit to use the tickets another time. I didn't ask for a refund. Jet Express informed me that "Unfortunately, all sales are final." So disappointing. read more

Excellent service from port Clinton to Put In Bay. Is expensive but takes your right to the action

Worst experience. On the way to put in bay we had to turn around because something went wrong with the boat. We finally got there and the way back was a great experience. However when trying to leave the parking lot we could not because none of the lanes would take credit card. We called for assistance and no one would help so a lady came out and had no clue what to do so then I had to walk all the way back inside the place pay a 3.50 surcharge to use an atm and then had to go to the bartender for 4 5$ bills for a 20 so I could get out of the parking lot. As I was walking back out to the parking lot the lady that was there left and we tried to get out with cash and it wouldn't take cash and so I pressed the assistance button and no one answered. I cancelled the transaction, tried a card, did not work and then cancelled again and it finally took my cash to get out. It took us over 40 min to get out of a parking lot after we had a bad experience in put in bay. To say the least we were done for the day and there was no help to find at the jet express. Miller Ferry has never disappointed and we wanted to try this one after our last bad experience and we will never use it again. read more

This is a fast and convenient way to get to the Islands of Lake Erie. The pricing is considerably high compared to the Miller Ferry and Kelley's Island Ferry (no service to PIB), but it is conveniently located in downtown P.C. and is a lot of fun. The parking is not free, but it is relatively cheap - like $5/day or something like that (at least we got it for that much and we parked in a neighboring, non Jet-express lot). This is a much more touristy line than the others mentioned above, but rightfully so - Miller Ferry is not as "glamorous" and takes vehicles. The Jet is pedestrians only. I like to sit on the top deck and enjoy the sun and wind - if it is raining, or you prefer A.C., they have two lower decks with seating inside. Military discount is offered - just ask. read more

While more expensive than Miller Ferry, the Jet Express is much more convenient to me because it drops you off right downtown. You don't have to worry about an immediate bike/golf cart rental or taxi/bus shuttle as soon as you are off the boat. I like that there is ample enclosed seating, which came in handy during a down pour on our way back to Port Clinton! There is plenty of seating but it does get crowded, especially weekends, so if you don't want to stand, avoid being at the back of the boarding line. If you take any luggage, you can check it before boarding so they can keep it on a cart and you aren't stuck lugging it around the boat. You will have to utilize Miller Ferry if you need to transport a vehicle, RV, or motorcycle as Jet Express is passenger only, with the exception of bicycles. read more

The Miller Ferry less expensive. It's a bit of a drive to the tip of Catabwa, but if you're in the neighborhood to see the area anyways, it's worth it. Some of the drive is right on the lake and some of the lakefront houses are worth a look. Any business, hotel or local stranger you talk to will be able to give you directions to the Miller if necessary. Also, you can take your car on the Miller if for some reason that is necessary (though I certainly don't recommend it as Put-in-Bay is pedestrian friendly and having a car would be a huge pain. That being said, the Jet is very conveniently located (hence the price difference) both in PC and on the island. Whereas the Miller drops you off far away from downtown (far away being relative on such a small island) and you have to take a taxi (I think it was a nominal $3/person in a big van last time) the Jet drops you off right in the center of the action. Both docks have golf cart rentals available (recommended if you demand some kind of motorized transportation) and there are bike rentals available in downtown for sure. The ride is about 20-30 minutes with a bit of waiting time on either side of the process. Boats generally run every half hour or so in peak season, hourly at the beginning and end of the season. The lake can be quite choppy and if so, the ride is not so pleasant, but it's pretty short so it's not a deal breaker. Do beware of the last boat to leave the island, though, if your accommodations are on the mainland. The last boat leaves near or before last call. read more

They boast about how fast they are, how they get you there the quickest. Point to point I'm sure they must be the fastest, once you get on the boat. The problem is it takes forever to actually get on the boat! We got there a half hour before the boat came in, bought our tickets, and of course couldn't get on the boat that had pulled in then. We had to sit and wait for the next boat as they had already sold tickets for the boat that was there right then. We spent an hour and a half before we could even begin our trip to Put in Bay! I have to suspect the other ferrys have to get you out there quicker than this service does. Plus this was $36, versus $14 for one of the others. And, when you buy your ticket, you have to pick a time that you want to come back from the islands. I guess I can understand why they have to do that, but still it is an inconvience. read more

It would be one thing if you really got something special for the price but it was crowded and I felt more like cattle being herded than someone on a transportation vessel. This past weekend was our first time trying Jet Express on our trip to Put-in-Bay. It definitely got us there faster than Miller's, about 31 minutes dock to dock. You also can't beat being dropped in downtown Put-in-Bay. I was also pleased with their promptness. We left Friday afternoon at exactly 3:30 and we left Put-in-Bay on Sunday morning at 9:32. Miller's always seems to be 10-15 minutes behind their scheduled departures. The only negative I have, is the parking lot. We spent 40 minutes trying to pay and leave. I would suggest parking in their long term lot a block down the street. It's a flat rate (10 dollars a day) and cash only, but it would have greatly reduced our wait time to leave. read more

We traveled quite a few times on the Jet Express over the last few days and it has a seemingly impeccable time schedule. Given the heat and long lines, it isn't the ideal waiting situation but the fact that it was right on schedule made it a bit better. It is very clean inside and out and the staff is quite friendly. A few things I noticed: -VERY FEW seats...be prepared to stand for up to 45 minutes in the heat waiting on the ferry. -Significantly more expensive than other transportation services offered. Not sure why the difference as I've taken them all at one time or another and there really is no difference. All in all, a reliable way to travel if you're in a time crunch. read more

The Jet Express is undoubtably the best way to get to Kelley's Island and Put in Bay from the mainland (unless you have your own boat). There are two docks on the mainland; Sandusky and Port Clinton. Port Clinton goes direct to Put in Bay and Sandusky goes direct to Kelley's Island. The Jet Express does offer a ferry between the two islands, so you can go to both islands in one day (like we did) and be able to go back to the same dock (Sandusky in our case). The boats are clean, smooth, and fast. There is an open upper deck and a lower indoor seating area with booths along the windows. The loading areas don't have much waiting room, so my suggestion is if you come on a busy day, walk around the area near the dock instead of sitting and waiting. Overall, if you're looking for a quick, easy way to get to Kelley's Island and/or Put in Bay, take the Jet Express for an easy way to a day or weekend of enjoyment on the islands. read more

Terrible experience will never ride again beware, after they took our money very pricey and the ride out and back to Put In Bay we got back and it took over 30 minutes to get out of their pay parking lot. $10.00 to park and wait 30 minutes.
