This place is walking distance to everything on the island. The location is perfect. Now, my favorite part of my stay here was the Breakfast. It was amazing and included in your stay. The owner Paul is the chef and he is creatively talented with the breakfast options. They offer an extra ordinary continental breakfast, regular breakfast items with a upscale added version. You can also order from Paul's special menu. I had a Cast iron blueberry dutch baby which was delicious. My husband had the Chilaqueles, which he has had in Mexico and said Paul did it exceptionally well. I would suggest when getting breakfast to eat it outside on their covered porch and people watch. The toilet stalls are very small, and there's one and sink and two shower stalls to share (for men, at least). Not a problem midweek but I'm not sure how that would play out on a crowded weekend. I couldn't get the Wifi to work in our room, the signal was too weak. But it is available in the lobby and maybe it's better in other rooms.

We never had to get a golf cart since it is really close to everything, including the sand bar public pool. The beds were soft and comfortable and the room had 2 queens and one twin bed. We had a noisy group next to us the last night, but that is more an issue of rude people rather than the hotel. There are signs posted in the room that say no partying and no illegal drugs. I would stay there again. It was also very clean.

The jacuzzi in the room was actually very nice and was separate from the bathtub in the bathroom. The jets were a bit loud When we checked in, we were told the Coffee was 24 hours a day but on Friday morning it wasn't and my friend had to wait an hour and a half for hot coffee. They also offer what they call a continental breakfast on weekdays, which was bagels, waffles you pop in the toaster, oranges, yogurt, bags of instant oatmeal and juice. I guess it's better than nothing, but we decided to get breakfast elsewhere. The cost to rent a golf cart was quite expensive (maybe it's that way on the whole island). $79 for a full day and $97 for overnight. If this was the only option I might come here again. Otherwise, nah!!

The carpet wasn't vacuumed, the counters were filled with bugs, the bed had bugs on it, the comforter was stained, stains on the walls. Overall dirty and looked like someone hadn't even attempted to truly clean the room. Brought this to management attention in the morning and the resolution I was met with was the cleaning staff will be notified and talked to. Management was not willing to refund a penny.

The staff seemed very inexperienced--when I asked basic questions, they were often unfamiliar with the hotel's own rules and policies. I specifically requested a refrigerator in my room to store medication, but I was told there were none available. The only option I was given was to place my medication in the staff refrigerator until one opened up. For a hotel of this price point, this is not acceptable--especially since they do not allow guests to bring in coolers, and the rooms are not equipped with microwaves. When I asked to speak to the manager on duty, I had to wait 45 minutes for her to arrive because she was not even on-site--this on a busy weekend when leadership presence should have been a priority. To make matters worse, while I was waiting, I noticed a child playing behind the front desk, which made the whole operation feel very unprofessional. The rooms themselves are extremely outdated and in need of renovation. The television in my room did not work, and for a rate of $299 per night with a two-night minimum, you would expect at least modern amenities and quality hospitality services. Instead, the overall impression was one of neglect and lack of value. While Put-in-Bay is a great spot for a day trip or short visit, I strongly recommend choosing another hotel if you plan to stay overnight. The Grand Islander Hotel simply does not live up to its price or promises, and there are much better quality accommodations on the island

Stayed there this weekend for a girls trip and it was great. Lots of security. The pool was…read moreawesome. Everything was clean there were a lot of worker cleaning up after all of the party goes. Picture is from our balcony after they clear out of the pool area. Music stops at 9 pm so you don't have to worry about noise when going to sleep. Short walk to Mr. Ed's which is a great place to dance, get drinks and eat. Only suggestion would be having more help at the desk to facilitate check in/check out and paying for concessions.
