I wanted to use the stones from my grandmother and great-grandmother's rings for my wedding/engagement ring. Their rings weren't really my style nor did they fit. I assume Marco would only be able to use the stones but was happy when he said he could also use the metal though he'd have to add some more to it. This way their whole rings went into mine. I showed him an example of what I wanted, something very vintage with a partial bezel setting and I could tell he understood what I was going for. It's nerve racking leaving your family heirlooms in the hands of a stranger but I could tell they really knew their stuff. What they designed and made me is exactly what I was looking for. It looks more heirloom than what I started with. Also, while it looks very delicate it has good weight and seems really sturdy, important for a ring I plan to wear forever. I felt the price was really reasonable and I ended up with a ring worth far more than I actually paid. I would say if you want design work to give them plenty of lead time, especially if you have a deadline like a wedding or engagement cause they seem to get lots of orders. read more

Zero stars for comunication skills, emails, phone calls or text. Get all promises in writting because his word, handshake or verbal promise is totally worthless. He wear a cross around his nech, talks about being a strong Christian, acts more like a thief in sheeps clothing in my opinion. I think unless you want something off the shelf, or straight out of a book you would be better served going to a more professional jeweler. My wife and I have been going to Jeweler By Design for four years now and have been extremely happy and satisfied with everything we have done. We have done a few different custom pieces ranging from necklaces to most recently adding to my wife wedding ring. He is very detailed in his work and very knowledgeable. He gave plenty of recommendations and was very patient along the way. One of the custom pieces I had done was for my wife. This was something he made by hand in wax and I was able to stop by and go over everything prior to moving forward. I wanted to take my time with this since this was a wedding gift to my wife and it was very special to me. The modifications we made with my wife wedding was adding two additional wedding bands to go along with the two existing ones. I did make the mistake of going to a chain store where I originally purchased my wife's engagement ring and wedding bands but this was prior to going into Jeweler By Design. (I can honestly say this was a huge regret of mine not shopping around prior to buying otherwise I would have gone through them from the start.) Since he didn't originally make the engagement ring and wedding bands there was no way of making the two additional bands exactly the same so they matched. So we decided to usage all the existing gold and diamonds and make everything from scratch but model it to be exactly how it was before....and we couldn't be any happier!!! For my 50th Birthday I wanted something special. My mom gave me a one of my grandmother's ring guards. It was white gold and had several diamonds: marquis, baguettes and little fond ones. The Dad told me he would install a lobster claw latch for the chain they sold me and never did.. They way over charged me for a chain also. It was amazing the work that Marco and his family did. The ring is almost thirty years old, and not only was there a design required, there was updating to the gold to make it look modern and fresh. They made a ring with my diamond (lucky for me the diamond had etched serial number) I had purchased years ago. They kept the left over gold used for making/mold when melted. Also had earrings remounted! Guess what! Now, I own smaller diamonds that show yellow in my new settings. Marco mentioned it must be the new settings making them look so yellow.
