I came to bring some gold to sell and I had already received a quote from another dealer bc gold is selling really high right now. I wanted to see what the Jewelers Bench would offer since I live in Kingwood and try to support Kingwood businesses. The female manager (?) was first a little standoffish and rude and then came back and offered 1/2 of what the other company offered. So I told her what I was offered and she said abruptly then maybe you should take it there instead and turned her back to me and walked away. I was raised in retail working at my family's retail stores and my father taught me to always treat your customers nice even if you don't agree with what they're asking. He told me that one mad customer can hurt your family business because they will tell their friends and you will lose. The Moisannite on my wife's ring was starting to get loose and this was the closest jewelry store near our house. We did not purchase our ring here so we were sort of hesitant to see what kind of price we would have to pay to get it repaired. We came in and was immediately asked if we needed any help from an older gentleman who listened to what we needed and took the ring and said "let me see what i can do". As he reached for the ring that was in my hand I noticed his hands were the hands of a working man's hands - they were dirty and rough and had the markings of experience about them. I knew my wife's ring was in good hands. My wife and I strolled the store for a bit and I was already wondering what was wrong with our ring and how long it will be to be shipped off to be repaired and how much it will cost. Mike, (I later asked him his name) ushered me and my wife over and handed us the ring back telling us he was all finished. "That's it???" I asked, "That's it" he stated. The level of customer service, and curtesy is off the charts. They seem to stay very busy working on jewelry, and not just selling it. You can always see several gemologist working hard in the back. They have done great work on my jewelry alterations and repairs. They are a little higher priced than some other places. However, you can have confidence they will fix anything they have not done right. I took one star away because they do not always have the best customer service when you need information or advice. There is one girl that is awesome. I think her name is Kimberly. She is a blonde lady...very pretty. I really like working with her if she is still there. I was so excited to see a jewelry store in my neighborhood so I could get my watch battery replaced! I went in today and told the salesperson that I was glad to see a jewelry store in the neighborhood. No reaction. I told her I needed a new watch battery. She told me about the one with a 5-year warranty ($25) and the one with the one year warranty ($12.99). I told her the battery in my watch had a 5-year warranty from a jewelry store in CA...would that be honored? She snickered and said "of course not, you got the battery in CA, not here.". I told said: "give me the $12.99 battery." So Miss Sales Lady (NLG), let me explain a few things about customer service to you: --when someone comes into your store and says they're excited to find you are in their neighborhood, say something like "I'm glad you found us!" --when someone asks about the warranty (or any other question for that matter), explain how the warranty works--don't treat the person like they are an idiot. Some other customer service tips: --you are the expert--act like one --respect your elders (some day you will be my age) --ALWAYS say "thank you" when the customer pays for the item I conduct customer service training. You will now be an example in my training programs. (Don't worry I won't use the name of the store, but I will say "a jewelry store where I live...."). I thank you for that. Very friendly staff with actual jewelers on site. They also employ a watch maker, so you have a full service facility. They're a small store, but they carry some interesting items, including a special hinging system so people with arthritis can still wear their beloved jewelry. They also do custom work, which is awesome. I was in browsing and they were more than happy to show me things and talk abou the items and their store. I liked the personal way they greeted repeat customers who came in the door. Overall, this is the fine kind of local business I like to patronize. He gave me which warranty choice I would like to go with and few minutes later I could get my watch back with new battery! I brought in a ring that I recently inherited from my grandmother which use to belonged to her mother, so it's safe to say that I was very nervous about leaving it with anyone. After going to a few different jewlery store and not feeling comfortable enough to leave it, I went to Jewlers Bench. Kimberly Williams was so helpful! She answered all my questions, told me step by step exactly what they were going to do to my ring (I needed it resized and some of the prongs needed to be fixed), and reassured me that it would look brand new when they were done with it. My husband bought my wedding ring from Jeweler's Bench and i was amazed on the work they did. I absolutely love it and get so many compliments everywhere i go about how beautiful it looks. My husband lived in the area at the time and when we wed he moved away. We live a good ten hours away and used another jewelry store to get my ring cleaned and maintenanced, I was not satisfied on the work they did. I took it back to Jewelers Bench to get maintenanced and never again will take it any where else. I even took my sweet 15 bracelet to them and they repaired it to exactly the way it looked 15 years ago. The staff are very helpful and friendly. While they are definitely convenient for one that lives in the area, I would suggest to go elsewhere for repairs. I had a stone fall out due to a bad prong. I was quite surprised at the almost $300 charge but what choice did I have after giving my consent to have it repaired? Several weeks after the repair my husband and I went in with another situation and they offered to clean my ring. After cleaning and examining it they told me I had a broken prong. Hmmm...same prong they fixed less than 2 months earlier. After I reminded them that they had just repaired it they were a bit taken aback but did fix it for no charge. Fast forward, another stone falls out (ya, I'm a little rough with my hands)and I take it to another local jeweler. Great customer service, fast service and 2/3 less the cost. read more
