I would highly recommend Jewels Wine Tours to anyone looking for a driver in Napa Valley. The convenience and affordability of having a driver pick you up in the morning at your hotel/ rental home, in your rental car (which you are presumably already paying for), and providing personalized wine tours is unbeatable. Not to mention, Ryan is a great guy who shows an ability to appeal to any crowd. Background: A group of six of us (three couples) rented a Tahoe at SFO airport and a home in Green Valley (about 30 mins from Napa) for the week. We used Jewels Wine Tours for three consecutive days of wine tasting throughout the valley. We supplied jewels with a list of wineries we wanted to visit over the three days. Pros: Jewels scheduled all of our wine tastings and tours for us. All we had to do was supply them with a list of places we wanted to visit. Their knowledge of the valley (travel times) and how long you spend at each winery (varies greatly from winery to winery) allowed us to optimize our time while staying on a comfortable schedule. Ryan picked us up at our home each morning, promptly at our agreed-upon time (9:00-10:00 varying by day). He was always right on time. He showed up with an ice chest so we could pack picnic stuff and water if we wanted to. While driving through the valley, he was happy to provide as much or as little dialog, opinion, and/or commentary as we desired. He was great as a sounding board for comments/ questions throughout the day as we made our way from stop to stop. He even took the time to look some things up when he didn't know the answers off the top of his head. He seems to know tons of people throughout the valley and is able to provide the 'inside scoop.'. He also suggested several wineries and lunch/Dinner places which we thoroughly enjoyed. Ryan was careful to make sure we stayed on schedule... Time flies when your having fun/ drinking wine. He always stayed with the vehicle during our tastings to keep the car safe and cool to make sure our wine purchases stayed in great shape. Each night he dropped us off back at our house with our rental car. One night he even ran us by the grocery store as none of us were in any kind of shape to be driving. Cons: n/a All in all, there really is no other way to see napa valley when considering great service, convenience and value. You will not be disappointed. Two thumbs up! read more

WOW--such an amazing service! Ryan was our wine tour guide for a bachelorette party this past weekend in Napa and he led us to have the most amazing day. The weather was perfect for wine tasting, we hit up 5 wineries and with his helpful hints we tasted for free/really cheap at all of them. Ryan tailored the trip to our crowd (5 reunited friends) and drove us to amazing look outs and fun wineries....we didn't have to think about a thing! Being picked up at our hotel and using our own car made the day so easy and comfortable. Ryan gave us great vino knowledge and local tips, so much better than a stuffy chauffeur! It has been a few years since we worked with Ryan at Jewels Wine Drivers (2012), but we are booking another trip to Napa this year and I realized that I had never written this review! Shame on me. You can be sure that we will call Ryan again BEFORE we book our next trip to make sure that they are available. We had such a wonderful experience with Jewels and will never see Napa any other way. I promise you that. On our first trip in 2009, we did one of those one-day wine tours with the bus that picks you up at your hotel. No thanks. You are with a group of people you don't know, you don't pick the wineries (I'll add that they were mediocre), and the whole experience feels canned. When we went back in 2012, we knew we wanted something different but didn't want to drive our own vehicle after a day of drinking. Jewels was the perfect solution and you save SO much money using the rental car that you are already paying for instead of a limo. Not stressing about the appointment times or navigating between wineries pays for them in itself. Vacations are for relaxing, right? Right. We were traveling as a group of six and Jewels scheduled all of our tastings and tours for us for THREE days. He (Ryan) recommended places to fill in the gaps, lunch spots, you name it. We didn't have to worry about a thing and we had a wonderful time. They paid attention to the wineries we had chosen and somehow filled in the itinerary with places that were similar as well as places that were perfectly different (to give a little variety). I have recommended Jewels Wine Drivers to a few friends that have taken trips since and three people have used them on separate occasions...all with rave reviews. read more

Seriously amazing service. My friend came to Napa for her 30th birthday and wanted to get a real wine tasting experience. Ryan was our driver, and his knowledge of the area, the wineries, the restaurants, really everything- was top notch. On top of that, he's a very friendly person and we had no problem chatting about whatever during the trip. The service was extremely well priced versus what you are going to pay for a car service with a car and a driver. I would highly recommend this service to anyone coming to the area for a wine tasting experience. For a summarized list of why- see below: 1) Ryan was a great driver- I am not usually comfortable in a car unless I am driving, but he was great. 2) Outstanding price- comfort of your own car 3) Amazing local knowledge, wine knowledge 4) Friendly and on time 5) Don't drink and drive- be safe. My boyfriend and I used Jewels Wine Drivers in December 2013 to celebrate his birthday. Leading up to our trip, Ryan was incredibly helpful in assisting us to plan the perfect day. His suggestions for wineries that we would like based on our preferences were spot-on (for example, I wanted to start the day at a vineyard that also provided cheese, and he knew just the place to go). He has deep knowledge of every vineyard in the area and will help you to plan your time wisely and find places you will love. On the day of our trip, Ryan arrived promptly at our hotel, and he was extremely friendly but also very professional. He knew his way around the area perfectly (didn't need GPS or anything - knows the area like the back of his hand), and could also provide information about vineyards, the geography, the industry, the various towns in Napa, etc. - anything you could ever want to know. It was nice having a "guided tour" and designated driver in one. Ryan has lived in the area for decades, and has an expertise that only a local could provide. Not only was Ryan informative, but he was also simply fun to be around. We had quite a few laughs together. He waited very patiently by our car, reading, as we tasted at each vineyard, and struck the perfect balance between keeping us on schedule but also letting us relax and savor everything. We HIGHLY recommend Ryan and Jewels Wine Drivers - this is a small, family business filled with love and passion. You could book a town car with a bigger company, but driving around with Ryan and all of the extra color and fun he added made this experience truly memorable and so special. We used Ryan in July of 2015 and I will always recommend him to anyone visiting Napa or Sonoma. I just did actually, which prompted me to write this much awaited and deserved review. We knew nothing about where to go but had an idea of what wineries we wanted to try or wine we preferred to taste. He took my ideas and itinerary and tweaked it based on his expertise, knowing the distance from each vineyard to maximize our drinking time and even gave his own suggestions. He grew up in the area and knows the ins and outs and shortcuts. He picks you up promptly, drives your rental car, waits for you as long as you need, takes you to get food, whatever you want! Julia was our driver and she came and met us at our B&B around 10:30 AM and then she drove us around in my car all day. I had made reservations at 2 wineries and she offered to make a few additional recommendations to fill out the rest of our day. They do a great job of feeling their audience out and making sure they get to experience some of the best local wineries in wine country. It was the best day ever. Ryan was very knowledgeable about the are and the history of Napa and gave us great recommendations for wineries to visit that would meet our desires. In October 2012, Ryan planned a two day wine country tour for us. He took us to all the big and showy wineries we had selected, but he also paid attention to each of the wines we liked and then sporadically took us to some lesser known vineyards that we never would have found on our own. We even ended up liking Ryan's vineyards and their wines better than the ones be had chosen on our own (and we had done our research, read plenty of reviews and looked up the awards). I have recommended this company to many people. Their service is great and they could easily be charging more, considering the knowledge and expertise they bring to the table. When we were planning our trip to wine country we knew we didn't want to drive once we got there! After calling around to several drivers, Ryan at Jewels Wine Drivers was the obvious choice for us. He was one of the only providers to detail how he would be added to the insurance on our rental vehicle and seemed very professional and knowledgeable. We were not disappointed, his service was great! We had him for one day and Tony for two others. We meshed between what our must see vineyards and others that they suggested.
