This is a wonderful and one-of-a-kind experience onboard a restored vintage train. The train cars are elegant with wood lined tables, etched glass partitions and velvet-plush seats in the lounge car. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We had assigned seats in the dining car, which had a glass of sparking wine already poured upon arrival. There is a Prix Fixe menu to choose a Starter, Entree and Dessert. We selected the Roasted Beet Salad, Salmon and Braised Short Rib meal with Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert. You can order additional glasses of wine during the meal for a separate charge. Three meal packages are available, you must reserve and pre-pay via their website: - 3-hour with 3-course meal $261 per person. One glass of sparking wine. - 3-hour with 3-course meal with wine pairing, $415 per person. - 6-hour with 4-course meal with wine pairing and dancing. $600 per person. Sincerely, Rosemary

A must-do in Napa for sightseers :D I love the wine train... My family booked this for my birthday a few years back and I'm getting around to reviewing it now. In fact, I'm due for another visit methinks...! I remember the food and drink to be enjoyable and high quality, along with excellent service. Fond memory... But I also remember it as very pricy. IMO the experience as a whole is worth it. Their menus are seasonal so I'm uncertain whether the dishes I had are available now... But I have no doubt that their chefs have curated a fine menu regardless :3

Beautiful old train. The trip takes you through the valley to see the scenery and multiple wineries. We did the lunch tour which was about 2.5 hours. The food is excellent and the tour was very interesting. It's a little pricey but something fun to do.

This was my first time on the wine train and we had a blast. We opted for the 3 hour tasting on the rails experience, which was great for us because we had evening plans. The views were amazing, our hosts Nick and Leilani were awesome. They explained everything that we were going to be tasting and also gave us history on the winery that we passed by while on the train. I recommend this experience if you want a chill vibe while taking in some great Napa scenery. Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Wine 9/10 Experience 9/10

I love afternoon tea and having it on a train was such a delightful experience. We had reservations, so everything was a breeze when we checked in. There was a 360 photobooth and few photo ops as well as a souvenir shop you can check out while we waited to board. They announce when you need to line up and you also get a photo as a keepsake. The decor on the train is so pretty with lots of artificial flowers. The meal comes with seasonal greens salad and carrot ginger soup to start with. You can add caviar for an additional price of $149, but we did not LOL. The pastries were yummy and little savory bites were delicious and presented beautifully. The tea bites consisted of deviled eggs with salmon roe, cucumber chive, chicken salad, smoked salmon tartare on potato rosti, and lobster salad choux. For endings, we had honey pear mousse, peppered cheddar scone, champagne cupcake, and citrus mirliton cake. They even gave us a few extras! You can also take home what you don't finish. This train is also dog friendly! Overall, I had a really nice time here! It's definitely worth it if you are in Napa Valley and love afternoon tea!

It still lives up. So I went on Napa Valley Wine Train for one of my first anniversaries with the missus. I thought for our 10 year anniversary we could try it out again and man am I glad its still worth it. Even though the time said arrival at 10:30, we arrived at 11am and that was still fine. I think they just wanna give you time to look around in the store nearby incase you are thinking you might want to buy an item or a wine. After you check in, shortly after they will car your letter and ask for you to board the train. It's all very similar to going on a typical airplane flight except it's more close to Southwest's style where the sooner you check in, the sooner you will most likely be boarding the train. I'm not sure if they start serving drinks the minute you get on but that could be a consideration on why you might wanna show up rather than later. Before you board they take a picture of you/group. So if you want to that particular picture just know you can do that once you arrive back from your trip. Once we arrived on the train they sat us and we ordered some drinks to start. I ordered a Locomotive Sangria and it was really tasty. I loved how despite it being a little lighter than most Sangria's I drink, it still had a really nice balance of flavors. For food I ordered the Seasonal Sangria. It ended up being a Pea Risotto. Again, this also was lighter than other Risotto's I had but I really enjoyed the earthiness of the dish. It was a fun change to the usual seafood or mushroom Risotto I'm so used to getting. Lastly we got a dessert wine to share and some sorbet for dessert. They put a candle in it to commemorate our anniversary. It was a really nice touch. The ride honestly goes faster than you think it will. It's really cool that we have such a nice experience that isn't too far from where we live. I really enjoyed just enjoying the occasional street art on the walls as we left and of course the views of the Napa County countryside. I definitely think if you are a local you should try this at least once. For me I'm a little biased because I'm a sucker for trains.

If you are looking for a 5 star experience while visiting Napa, look no further than the Napa Valley Eine Train. We booked the Legacy Tour for a special birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. It was expensive (around $500pp plus gratuity) but it was worth the experience. The ride/tour is scheduled from 10:00am until 4:30pm. From the time we entered the "train station" until boarding the staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a large gift shop with some excellent wine options for purchase as well as beautiful gifts, clothes and event wine luggage for travel, When you check in, you are given a lapel pin so while you visit the two wineries along the way. They know you are part of the tour group. Prior to boarding the train, there is a photographer who will take a complimentary digital photo snd/or you can purchase a physical photo/frame at the end of the day. We boarded in groups into the different train cars. We were spaced out and there are glass dividers between seat sections (from the Covid time era) so you really have your own space without it feeling too crowded. As we sat down, our hostess/server Alicia was very friendly and had a huge smile on her face. She was also our train car emcee throughout the entire trip with exception of Oscar, our matron de and wine tasting host. As the train left the station, we were served complimentary sparkling wine and breakfast. There was also a nice birthday card from Alicia waiting for me. There is a bar in the dining car so you can order/purchase any type of cocktail or wine in addition to the sparkling wine. You can provide any allergy information when you make reservations so they have that information ahead of time. The breakfast was salmon eggs Benedict with a side salad. It was a beautiful and delicious plate. After breakfast, the train stopped at the Napa Valley Welcome sign and we moved to the open air train car where Oscar started the wine tasting experience and you can take pictures. We were there for about an hour. We were served 4 different wines from a local vineyard while Oscar educated us on wine tasting and also entertained us. We moved back into the dining cars and were served lunch. There is a menu with lunch options including a truffle risotto, pork tenderloin, filet or salmon. I ordered the risotto, it was delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin and said it was fantastic. Our friend ordered the salmon and said it was the best salmon she had ever eaten. As we headed towards the first winery. Alicia educated us on the various vineyards and towns we passed through. Our first stop was Charles Krug winery where we were provided a tour of the vineyard and a sit down wine tasting experience. Our second wine tasting was at V.Santui Winery and again, provided a sit down experience. I provided separate reviews for each of the wineries. I would have preferred different wineries for my wine tasting options as we enjoy more full bodied cabs, however, we hadn't been to either of these wineries for tastings and it was about the overall experience. When we boarded train, we were served a cheese course. This was probably my least favorite but it was a nice snack. We ended the dining experience with dessert. A choice of a warm chocolate lava cake or crème brûlée. Both were delicious. You can also order coffee. We were introduced to the chefs. I was impressed by these young chefs as every course was beautifully presented. The end if the tour concluded with an option the head to the open air car for music and dancing should you wish to do that. Overall we had an amazing experience and I would recommend this for any special occasion or just an introduction to Napa Valley. We loved it.

I've been visiting Napa since 2017 annually. I was told not to ride the Wine Train because it wasn't worth it! They Lied!!!! I had THE BEST experience on the train! From the cutest waiting area to the disemabark- service was top notch. Not only was the service top notch, the food was amazing. Imagine sipping a glass of bubbles while you overlook the hillsides of Napa Valley. Beef Short Ribs to die for. Finishing off with an orange crème brûlée accompanied by a cup of coffee- chefs kiss. So relaxing!!!!

My husband gifted me the Chandon Afternoon Tea experience on the Napa Valley Wine Train for my birthday and it was everything I hoped for and more. We usually travel for my birthday, but since I'm still recovering from an ACL injury, we wanted something special that didn't require too much walking and this ended up being the perfect choice. It truly transported us into a different world, even a different time period. It felt so nice to dress up, sip on some spritz, and enjoy all the little afternoon tea delights while taking in the views. Jose was our speaker/host/server and he absolutely made the experience. At every stop he shared fun facts, stories, and little tidbits, keeping everything engaging, entertaining, and genuinely funny. He definitely had everyone's attention. Michell, who assisted with serving and preparing the dishes, was also wonderful. Both of them were incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and on top of everything. The entire experience felt unique, elevated, and really special. There were tons of photo opportunities, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere felt luxurious in the best way. Yes, it's definitely on the expensive side, but TBH, I think it's worth experiencing at least once. Highly recommend if you're looking for something memorable to do in Napa!

Smoked salmon tartar atop a potato rosti, deviled egg

My friends had the brilliant idea to celebrate our birthdays on the Napa Valley Wine Train. And it was amazing! We got to the train station early for check-in and received a commemorative pin. There's also a cafe, a gift shop, and a photo-op where you can use your phone to take a 360 video. It was chaotic though because the arm was too long and it kept hitting a nearby Christmas tree on top of it going too fast lol. Our boarding number was called, but there was another photo op by their professional photographer before boarding the train. We found our car, which was the Secret Garden Express, and it was beautiful! It was lined with flowers and the furniture was a mix between mid-century and English Edwardian. And the music from possibly the Vitamin String Quartet gave it Bridgerton vibes. Our hosts, Jose and Michell, took good care of us. They went over our food allergies and gave us info about the wineries we passed by. Since this is a collab with Chandon, at our table was a glass of the Chandon Garden Spritz. It was a delicious and a wonderful way to start the ride. Between the savory and sweet courses, the standouts were the coronation chicken salad, the smoked salmon tartare atop a potato rosti, the lemon raspberry tart, and the tropical cheesecake. The coronation chicken salad was warmly spiced with curry and there was a pop of sweetness from the grapes. The potato rosti was satisfyingly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The smoked salmon tartare was full of salty and dill flavors. The tart had balanced flavors and it wasn't too sweet. And the pastry on the tart was baked well where it was crispy but then crumbly as you ate it. The tropical cheesecake was creamy and I liked the subtle sweetness from the fruit and the texture from the coconut. The teas were also very good. I started with Jose's favorite, which was a Chinese red tea I believe. It tasted like a black tea, but not as strong. And I had to get Earl Grey tea, which with milk was creamy and conforming. Then I moved onto the non-caffeinated teas, which were the roobois tea and the chamomile tea. We spent some time in the open air car and it was fun waving back at people in their cars. It was heartwarming to see all the smiles on their faces because honestly who doesn't love seeing a train? Let's talk about prices. The Napa Valley Wine Train has several packages, and I believe the afternoon tea is one of the packages on the lower end. At around $270 (which can change depending how close you buy before the date), it can cause a dent in your wallet, especially in this economy. But if you can save up for it, it'll be worth every penny. The service was above and beyond, and the food and drinks were stellar. I would love to do this again next year.

An Unforgettable 5-Year Anniversary on the Napa Valley Wine Train (Dome Experience) For our 5-year anniversary, I wanted to plan something memorable, relaxing, and unique -- and the Napa Valley Wine Train completely exceeded every expectation we had. We booked the Dome Experience with the 3-hour, 4-course meal, and honestly it felt like something out of a movie. The glass dome gives you panoramic views of Napa Valley, and watching the vineyards and rolling hills pass by while enjoying a fine dining meal was surreal. From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and stress-free. Parking was super easy, check-in was quick and organized, and the staff made the entire process feel welcoming rather than rushed. The food... wow. Every course was beautifully plated and unbelievably delicious. You could tell the kitchen puts real thought into every detail -- from the flavors to the presentation. The dishes tasted just as incredible as they looked in the photos. Each course felt elevated and perfectly timed throughout the ride. A huge shoutout to Rick, our server, who truly made the experience special. His service was top-tier -- attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and he had the perfect balance of professionalism and personality. He made sure every course came out smoothly, checked in at the right moments, and helped create such a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere for our anniversary. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving guests a great experience. The entire team onboard was fantastic. Everyone we interacted with had great energy, great vibes, and you could tell they take pride in making the experience memorable. Since we were celebrating, we stayed nearby at Best Western Plus Inn at The Vines, which was only about an 8-minute drive from the train station, making the whole evening incredibly convenient and stress-free. Between the stunning views, incredible food, amazing service, and the relaxing ride through wine country, this turned into one of the most memorable anniversary celebrations we've ever had. If you're visiting Napa or looking for a special occasion experience, I cannot recommend the Napa Valley Wine Train enough -- especially the Dome Experience. We'll 100% be coming back. Huge thanks again to Rick and the entire team for making our anniversary something we'll never forget.

We received a dinner on the Napa Valley Wine Train as a birthday gift from our children, and I couldn't wait to experience it. We just got back, and I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this special treat. The train has a beautiful vintage feel with old-style charm. The service from start to finish was excellent. The food was really good. We had the four-course meal, and every dish was delicious. The only small downside was that it was too dark to see the scenery outside the windows. Next time, we will book a lunch ride so we can enjoy the views. I highly recommend this experience.

It was definitely an experience -- one I can truly say I've had. I booked because of all the hype on social media, and I was excited to celebrate my 45th birthday this way with family. I booked the GRGICH HILLS ESTATE TASTING which allowed us to get off during the ride The service was good, and our server was very personable, which we appreciated. The food was ok, the drinks were ok -- nothing bad, just not particularly memorable. For the price point, I do think the train could use a slight makeover. Overall, I'm glad I experienced it at least once, but would I do it again? Probably not. Still thankful for the memories and the time spent celebrating with my girls.

For those who experienced the wine train, did you book it directly through the napa valley wine train site? Is there a booking site that has a better price and legit?

book it directly through the napa valley wine train site, yes!

Is there any prearranged way to get back to your car after the ride or is it up to the passenger to figure that out?

This is all presuming that you book direct: The wine train offers a ferry or bus (if the ferry isn't running) from the San Francisco Ferry Building. This is at an additional fee (in January '20, it was $180 for the two of us), but if you coming… Read more

Can we bring our own bottle of wine ? We are celebrating and want to bring a very special bottle.

Yes, but you have to pay a corkage fee. Not sure how much it is though

When it comes to their murder mystery train ride, how much participation do the patrons have to do? Is it as simple as checking off boxes while eating dinner? We have some in our group that want ZERO responsibility/don't want to be pulled in/act....?

The Napa train ride is not a mystery train. You just ride the train, stop at wineries and eat delicious food. No responsibilities.

Are tastings at the wineries included?

Negative.

Is this kid-friendly?

Yes! It's a fun trip for the whole family.

Dress code here?

It's pretty much smart casual. Some folk prefer to dress up and that's ok. The lunch is more laid back smart casual but the dinner trip may require more of a dress up. Jeans and ultra casual gear just don't lend themselves to the situation but that… Read more

Ok. Thanks so much for speedy response

I'm wondering how dressed up my friend & I can get for the Summer sunset dinner without sticking out like sore thumbs? We want to dress up for our girls night :)

Think summer outdoor wedding and you'll be just fine. I would be a little careful with a really high heel though since it's an old train. Have a wonderful time! Don't forget a sweater since it cools off quickly at night (I sound like a mom).

Hands Down the Best Driver in Napa Valley!…read more I discovered George on Yelp, and after comparing other Napa car services--many quoting well over $1,000 for wine tours--it's clear why his customers rave about him. His reviews truly say it all! There were plenty of reasons we chose George over the rest. From our very first contact, George was incredibly responsive and communicative. I had a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids) for my husband's 40th birthday celebration and needed a vehicle that could securely accommodate a car seat with a latch system--his car was absolutely perfect. He arrived right on time, greeted us warmly, and was super easy to talk to. Throughout the day, George consistently arrived within minutes at each of our destinations. He didn't just drop us off--he guided us to the exact entrances and exits of every winery, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. On top of that, he shared insightful feedback about why each winery is special, adding a whole new level of appreciation to our tour. Another bonus, he provided water in an iced cooler and white glove door service! What really stood out was George's impressive local knowledge. Without even needing navigation, he expertly drove us from Petaluma to Napa while sharing fascinating stories and history about the wineries, estates, and the region itself. If you want a professional, friendly, affordable, and knowledgeable driver for your Napa experience, George is your guy! Highly recommend and would easily book him for our next trip!

My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. The day was sunny so the view from where we were sitting was extra beautiful. Wine was delicious and paired well with the oysters, just as the server recommended. I wish I remembered his name, he had a British accent and was extremely friendly; definitely added to this amazing experience. The oysters MELTED in our mouths, we ended up getting 2 dozen in total. We also got the puff pastry with smoked salmon+caviar. They were bite sized and tasted good, but didn't love the pastry. The price for the whole experience was definitely reasonable and I'll be back for it again soon. One small complaint is that the chairs for outdoor seating are not comfortable to me. So I reallly appreciated the chairs in the dining area, so I can enjoy the food, drinks, and scenery, all while being comfortable.

The wines - all sparkling - were also excellent. We also got to sample other wines as part of this paid experience. However, I would recommend visiting a smaller winery if you plan to do this one. It felt like this winery was very focused on the commercial aspect of the wine business. Our server basically talked through all the wines at once at the very beginning of the tasting and quickly left that I quickly forgot most of what he said midway through. Our whole experience was done in about 30 minutes and we had 60 minutes left... which was left to sampling the other wines but without any personal touch. This is quite a subjective point of view, but I prefer an experience where I am sitting with staff and learning about the wine making process and winery. 5 stars for the wines and view, 3 for the experience!

Our experience with Beau Wine Tours turned into an unforgettable Napa getaway -- thanks almost…read moreentirely to our incredible driver, Terry. I'll be honest: the planning phase started off a little strange. Molly was my point of contact, and then she suddenly disappeared from the process. Fortunately, everything eventually came together, and we ended up with an amazing six-day vacation, including visits to eight wineries over three days. But the real highlight -- the reason this is a 5-star review -- is Terry. Terry was amazing. Super friendly, super nice, and honestly a good-lookin' guy (even if he did tell us he gained 70 pounds after quitting smoking in 2019). He anticipated every single need before we even had to ask. He brought us breakfast when we were too lazy to get out of bed. He brought us pizza when we were too exhausted to make it to our dinner reservations. He's charismatic, charming, and funny as can be. Even on Thanksgiving Day, he made us feel important and cared for -- you'd never know he was missing a holiday with his own family and friends. He took great photos, insisted on making us feel special at every stop, and truly elevated our entire trip. And the best part? He refuses to accept more than an 8% tip. (Kidding... mostly.) Terry made our vacation. Hands down the best driver we've ever had. If you book with Beau, do yourself a favor: ask for Terry.

We called Beau Wine Tours to see if maybe they had someone already making a run to the airport to pick up guests. Sally answered the phone and said YES we can help, right away! She called a driver in within an hour and he (Giovanni) drove to the airport, picked up our luggage and drove it to our hotel in Napa Valley. Our trip could have been ruined with no clothes for 3 days but Beau Wine Tours (Sally and Giovanni) came through and delivered! Thank you!!

We traveled to Napa Valley for our 15 year anniversary. Upon research chose this restaurant via…read moreOpenTable; super excited thinking this was more of a fine dining experience. Upon entry and seeing people dressed very relaxed, my assumption was curved. The inside was relatively small, we sat at small table in the back near the "kitchen" food pick-up area is the best way to describe it. Our waiter was okay, provided us the nightly specials and acknowledged our Anniversary. Nothing beyond the standard greeting. Drinks: very basic in my opinion; subjective I get it. Me and my guests were not wow'd. We had to ask for additional supplements for the Lavender Lemon Drop and Georgia Peach or something Peach with bourbon, peach puree, etc. Appetizers: PrimeRib Sliders, Fried Coconut Prawns and Lobster Bisque. Again taste is subjective, being from the south, flavors and richness is a MUST. I can't say we got that. Our guest throughly enjoyed the prawns and said the sauce was GREAT. I'm use to a VERY rich, cozy Lobster bisque and this missed the mark, and there was barely any lobster. Entrees: 8 oz Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Crab enchiladas and Scallops. Filet was requested as medium, came out almost done, no pink in sight. While my guest was disappointed, they didn't feel like the battle of waiting for it to be corrected, disappointing. Prime Rib, was okay. The guest barely finished it. Pan Roasted Maine Scallops, were okay, cooked fine. Meal ended once a gnat landed on the crisp crackers. Crab Enchiladas: A very unique dish. Plentiful for sure; taste basic. Essentially a taco with all the fixings with crab sprinkled in minus a shell. No dessert for us; however, we were offered a cupcake with a candle for our anniversary. While this review is my/our experience, the restaurant missed the mark with this basic, dry store bought cupcake. I refuse to believe this was made in house. Perhaps one of the menu dessert options would have been better. We'll never know. My expectations were not met. Hope yours is.
