I took the elevator down and they just took the group on the stairs and took off without waiting. So I had to leave. I took the issue to admissions and they had nothing to say. If you have any mobility needs don't go here. Nope! Came here for a campus visit and the guide mumbled something and then took the group off at a fast pace, to climb three (or four) flights to the lecture room. Zero access for people with disabilities. I raised with them (as it was not accessible for us) and the first question asked was "did you fill out the form for people with disabilities?" Yes we did. But that is all you got? They say in other reviews that this college is too "woke." How about not woke enough?

As an undergraduate, I was an English major, concentrating in literature, The English program there is underrated, in my humble opinion. Marist is known as a communications/business/fashion school, and rightfully so as those programs are incredible. However, it should get more attention for its awesome little English department, staffed by some of the most amazing educators I've had in my 19 years of schooling. I was an avid reader before, but they completely changed my outlook on literature and ultimately inspired me to pursue becoming a professor myself. I returned later on to get my Masters in Education there. It's a young program (I think I may have been the second or third class?) so it's not perfect, but I also think that education is a hard subject to teach without hands-on experience, which they ultimately do require. Again, I was mentored by some awesome educators, so what more can you ask for from a college? Oh, and I did live on campus for three semesters. My first dorm, Champagnat, was renovated a year or two after I was there, so I don't have anything constructive to say about it since I haven't been in there since '01. My second dorm, a suite in Midrise, was nice. I know they were featured on a morning show about the luxury of their dorms, so there you go. The cafeteria is decent, the cafes around campus are good, they have a kickin' activities center and the library... oh, the library. I'll be here for another 8 paragraphs if I go into the awesomeness of the library, so I'll just say that I spent many a relaxing afternoon by a big window overlooking the Hudson reading the 47389423489 books assigned to me as an English major. Ah, Marist. Good times. I miss you.

I was so impressed with Art Centro Ceramics! I went here for the first time today and had so much…read morefun. I decided to get a private beginner ceramics lesson for my mom and I as something fun to do. The private lessons and classes are really affordable! The staff was very quick responding to all inquiries and questions before my class. Our teacher Alexis was so helpful and friendly. She first did a demonstration and then walked us through all of the steps. In our 1 hour private lesson we really learned a lot about the basics. Starting from scratch you definitely won't be able to make any masterpiece in just an hour class. At the end of the class you can recycle your clay, have your creation fired with a glaze for a little bit extra, or come back for another class to glaze it yourself. They have open studio for very low rates an hour, you can use their clay and wheels. There definitely seems to be a community of artists who use this space. But even as a beginner I felt very welcome here. My mom and I are both excited to go back! I would highly recommend this place.

My favorite thing about the CSA is the u-pick! I fill my house with flowers all summer. My children attended the summer camp for a few years and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. They are too old to attend now but still love coming to the farm to help me pick vegetables! I feel so lucky that my kids love vegetables. I'm trying to think of something "negative" to say about the farm and can't think of anything. I mean they even donate lots of vegetables to low income families! How can you go wrong? The site is a suite inside of a large building. The entrance is on the Main Street side. When I…read moretested, on a Saturday, there was a security guard at the entrance; he was very nice and kindly provided directions to the test center. When you walk in, the elevator is on the left. Take it up to the proper floor and pass through the glass doors on the left. Take a right and the suite will be on the left. I only provide directions because there was some construction going on at the time and it could be a bit confusing for a stressed out examinee. The staff are incredibly polite, understanding, and always smiling. They try to accommodate everyone and ensure each test taker is comfortable. I took the MCAT here when I had the flu, and the proctors provided tissues and came by periodically to distribute more or collect the used ones. There is a small table for personal items (water, snacks, cough drops, chapstick, etc.) just outside of the exam room that test-takers can access at any time without having to go through the signature, fingerprint and security check. I believe there are 10 seats in the center. 6-8 seats face the windows and the remainder face a wall. I went in late June and the room was not too heavily air conditioned; I wore an oxford button-up shirt and pants and had no discomfort. The restroom is a bit of a hike down the hall and it was very easy to get lost with lots of twisting hallways. Perhaps that will change, as it seemed they were doing some construction/ reorganization. If it's something that worries you, ask to see the location of the restroom before you start the exam. There is a parking garage beside the building as well as parking on the street. There is a bus stop just outside the parking garage as well on the Civic Center Plaza side, with a bench if you have to wait for a ride.
