I have gone to B North for ER needs. My last visit with right side pain resulted in a nine hour wait, rude staff and the fact they filled me full of morphine and sent me home without a second thought even though I was there alone. I went to Jewish Saturday because of severe shoulder pain. From the front desk to discharge everyone was kind and helpful. I was checked on often and never had to wait for anything. I had a confirmed appointment scheduled for today at 4:00 p.m. I get there to registration and he can't find it anywhere I have a text message confirming that the appointment was confirmed for a procedure he calls back to the testing area and they said no they can't even fit me in I made a complete drive over there for nothing. I honestly can't say enough good things about Dr. Hernandez at the Jewish Hospital In Cincinnati. She's such a caring and talented surgeon, and you can tell she really cares about her patients. Her bedside manner is awesome--she's friendly, attentive, and makes you feel super comfortable. She did a great job with my breast surgery. The incision is really clean, and it's healing up nicely. I think it'll be pretty much invisible soon. She took the time to explain everything and made sure I was comfortable and confident every step of the way. I was very hesitant on leaving a review for a hospital. Private and personal reasons but since I've seen positive outcomes, I would like to share my Mr.'s journey. October of 2023, my Mr. had breathing problems. We thought it might be his allergies. Doctors at urgent care gave him antibiotics but his symptoms got worse. After a month we rushed him to the Mercy Health emergency room. There was so much water around his lungs that they had to flush it out. Come to find out that my Mr has a weak heart and it's not pumping regularly. My Mr. was a cancer survivor and we believe all the chemo he has went through as a child has now come back to haunt him. After spending 5 hours at the emergency room, they admitted him to the Jewish Hospital. He stayed for 6 days. They had to do testing and monitor his heart. The staff and doctors were attentive/friendly to my Mr. Both kept positive attitudes. They made sure that he stayed on a strict diet and was on top of his medications. After he was released, he had to take medications for his heart. He went back for check ups and more tests. After 5 months, his heart wasn't getting stronger so the doctor suggested surgery. He was to have a defibrillator put in. My Mr and I thought long and hard. His decision was to get the procedure done in April. The whole experience was nerve wrecking but the staff kept me updated and was very patient. Dr. Laks did an amazing job. My Mr is now recovering and feeling great. I want to thank the Dr. Laks, Dr. Lopez and the whole staff for taking care of my significant other. If it wasn't for them, he wouldn't be with me. I know hospitals can be a depressing place to be but not all are negative. They saved my Mr.'s life. read more

My 84 yr old mother was admitted on 2/12 for back/arm pain and shortness of breath and was released on 2/15. While at Jewish she received excellent care from the time she was admitted to discharge. Specifically, the doctor, nurses and all staff on the entire 6th floor were exceptional, personable, and knowledgeable. She remembers the following names, Dr Ruben, Nurses Zoe, Jeremy, Nichole, Joyce and Kelsie; a host of other doctors and nurses were remarkable as well. If you're feeling as ill as I am right now, then maybe Jewish you were in hospital. Well, your wish is granted. Here's a hospital just for you. And the best way to get there is not to drive, or take a bus or plane, or even bike or walk. Nope, the best way to get here Israel. Massive and grand hospital which makes a lot of profit off insurance companies, and the good people of Cincinnati, but offers pretty good services across the board. Popular and well-liked on some websites, but on Yelp they're suffering from very mixed reviews as you can tell - maybe because of the small number of sample size reviews, with not a lot of people reviewing it. I don't have medical insurance and I can't really walk in here and have them treat me for free and if I do I'll have thousands of dollars in medical bills - and that's honestly the main reason why a lot of hospitals don't get a good rating from me. They were friendly enough but weren't going to do anything for me without me signing my life savings away. Not that I have any. read more

A lot of reviews are based on a one day or perhaps one hour experience. My review is based on four months that my husband spent at Jewish Hospital. First of all, if my review was only about the nursing staff, five stars isn't even enough almost every nurse was excellent! In all that time having two different nurses a day and of course, some nurses he had multiple times, there was only two that could have done better. I'd like to name them all but that would be impossible but I will say that the following nurses were way above exceptional. Most of these nurses first of all were in the 5500 wing and the ICU where my husband spent most of his time, there was Rachel, Tasha, Christina, the two cats, Danny, Annette, Daniel, Jessica, and several others, some whose names I can't recall at this time, but whose faces I will never forget. There was one nurse, who stood out above everybody else, and that was Jordan! At the time I didn't know him well, he had my husband I believe one shift up until that point, but he was my husband's nurse, the day that my husband Daniel, was to be taken off of all life support measures after he decided the day before that there was no going on as his condition would continue to deteriorate having no quality of life. He walked me through everything, and could not have been more professional and compassionate. I will never forget him. The next category is nurse practitioner. I will always remember Eric Meister. As a nurse practitioner in the vascular department, we spent a lot of time together, mostly with my asking questions, and Eric providing me with answers. They were always full explanations and he always gave me the time I needed! He was another person who was just so compassionate! Next come the residents who were the ones who would check on Daniel on a daily basis. They were all pretty great, but the one that stood out. Was Josh Marmel! While doing his podiatry rotation, he would stop bye sometimes twice a day to check on Daniel. Boy did we miss him when he went on to the next rotation! I would be remis if I didn't talk about the custodial staff and the kitchen staff that would take his food order. They would all come by multiple times a day, always with a nice word, or a smile. And on the custodial staff, I have to say that Dana was the best! She would come in, always with words of encouragement, and you knew that when she was done, it was never necessary for a white glove test! We sure missed her when they changed her schedule and duties. Even when I came in every day. There were several ladies on the first floor, that always greeted me asked me how everything was going and when I was really down, they would listen to me. Whether they were at the welcome desk or the surgery sign in desk or the gift shop they were great. Finally, we get to the doctors. And I give them a lot of credit because daniel had so many things wrong with him but they did everything in their power to try to keep on top of it, which just was not possible. there's one doctor that I need to point out , and that was Dr. Lipscomb. She did everything in her power to help him, and unfortunately the surgeries were not enough to save him, but the efforts were certainly there, and I know this because the surgeries would be successful, but then something else in a different part of his body would fail. This doctor would come in after each and every surgery and sit down with me and discuss everything that she did, and the prognosis after that surgery was complete. She was very patient answering all my questions, and especially when she would come up to see my husband and she is such a compassionate doctor! So that completes my review. They are very heartless my nephew recently passed away from covid this male nurse called his wife said your husband is dead where do you want him to go .come pick up his belongings.she just heard her husband just died and he showed no compasion.they do not call you .your lucky they pick up.you cant go visit anyone in icu so your loved one dies alone with a bunch of uncaring nurses and doctors who tell him your going to die on the vent. I arrived in your ER in horrible shape, the receptionist called back and told the staff you had a possible bowel obstruction that just arrived and no one came out and triaged me or looked at me for 2 1/2 hours. This was 2/17/2023. As a RN of 30 years, and Chronic Crohns patient since 2008, this kind of treatment is unacceptable and I souldn't be at all surprised if someone dies in your waiting room with the kind of neglect I experienced. Stop saying you don't have a staffing shortage. If your hospital was forced to open up every single patient bed that the hospital was built with, you wouldn't just have a staffing shortage, you'd have a shortage so bad that you would be bordering on Crisis. All you hospitals would be. I would like to talk to someone in admin and express my experience so you can know what it's like for patients coming into your ER......ps.....the nurse who helped me enlightened me a little! Jewish Hospital Review- 1 wish I could leave a zero star. My dear aunt who was 38 years old suffered a massive stroke and was air flighted from Anderson Mercy to Jewish. This was after begging the staff at Anderson Mercy to air care her to UC. They refused. (I personally believe it was for money) When we arrived at Jewish Hospital we were met with the most rude and indifferent staff. At 7:50 pm a neurosurgeon came out to talk to us. He was great. We were told that she had no chance of survival and would die. At 8 pm we were told we were not allowed to go back and see her because visiting times were over. (This is end of life - not visiting a sick loved one). Her own CHILDREN were not allowed to say goodbye. The next morning we were told no one was allowed to see her to say good bye. She coded at 9 am and passed away. Her own children did not get to say Goodbye to their mother. I have never in 20 years in the medical field seen people be treated with such cruel and merciless care. The nursing staff is the worst in the city. Save your self the heartache and make sure your loved one goes to University of Cincinnati Medical Center or The Christ Hospital. I can promise you they will be met with compassion and empathy from every employee. when we ask if family could go in and say goodbye, since it was end of life, we were told, "Well, she's not dead yet." The Hamilton County Sheriff's were called to escort us off the ICU floor (the police were very polite and seemed completely dumbfounded by the nurse's attitudes). The police suggested that we go downstairs and wait in the chapel as a family. We all did and sat there a prayed, shared funny stories, etc. It was a great moment during a horrible time. Around 9:30, Vicki's elderly mother decide to go upstairs to say goodbye before she went home for the night. She was met with the same rude nurses that told her she wasn't suppose to be there and needed to leave. She refused, said goodbye for 15mins or so and then came back downstairs and left. As she was leaving, the same Hamilton County Sheriff's met us in the chapel and advised that he was instructed to remove us from the premises because some "snuck back upstairs." We asked to speak with the individual in charge. She came down but told us that she had told us to leave earlier and never said we could stay in the chapel. When we tried to explain the situation, the police said, "You all need to leave before we call squad cars." We told them that we would be back at 8AM for normal visiting hours. The next morning, we were told that No One was allowed to visit due to what happened the night before. They said they would make an exception for Vicki's 3 kids to see her, but she coded and passed by 9:15. When the family was finally allowed to say goodby, after she had passed, the last individual in the family to see her was told that his time was up and he needed to be done and leave. For a family that does/has worked at 4 of the main hospital networks in the Greater Cincinnati area, the attitude and complete lack of empathy that was shown by Mercy-Jewish was absolutely unacceptable. While other hospitals would be offering Angel Carts, we were met with people trying to harvest her organs and the threat of arrest. read more

This is one of the WORST hospitals I or my husband has ever been to. Their staff was unfriendly, even through the check in process to the emergency room. They refused to allow me to go back with him at all and told me that I might be allowed AFTER he's been seen by a doctor. I have never seen this in a hospital or urgent care except for DURING the pandemic...certainly not since then. When I inquired about it the nurse became rude and unwilling to tell me anything and said she didn't care what other hospitals did and that if I didn't have anything else she was done "assisting" me. She also told my husband the doc was coming in to see him soon despite not actually having been triaged yet. I would NEVER recommend anyone to come to this place. Drive the extra time and go to Christ or UC....it's worth it to go there than here. read more

I recently had to deal with a collection agency because Jewish Hospital was billing me at an address I had not lived at for more than 10 years. Of course I had no idea I was being billed. One would hope they would collect the billing information as part of the admitting process. I have multiple complex health issues and have years of experience as a patient. I know that emergency rooms are not enjoyable places and I have patience for a lot of things. However, my experience at Jewish Hospital was horrifying. It's taken me several months to write this review because I could not bear to think back on the memory, but my brother in law insisted I talk about my experience because "if it happened to you, it's happening to other people." I was taken to the emergency department at Jewish hospital by ambulance because I started to have a seizure at a local urgent care (to which I went because I was not feeling well). I have psychologically triggered seizures, which are not epileptic and can vary in presentation. In this particular seizure, I was conscious but convulsing and unable to speak. The EMS was called and found that my oxygen was dropping, so they transported me to the hospital. Upon arriving, I was taken to a room and attached to EKG leads. The nurses told me to sit up and take my shirt off, but I was convulsing badly and had no motor control. They yelled at me for a few seconds and then roughly shoved me forward to do what they needed to do. No hard feelings, emergency rooms are fast paced environments. Then the nurse on my left pinched and twisted my armpit hard, in response to which I gasped and jerked. I wasn't able to talk, which I could hear them yelling at me to do. The nurse commented, "not responding to painful stimuli" which indicated to me that this was a routine medical test. (Her conclusion was strange to me, since gasping and jerking is a response but I understand that she was hoping it would make me speak.) The nurse on my right then used her knuckle to press down on my chest bone with so much force that she had to lean over my body and grunt with effort. I screamed in pain. She yelled "Talk to me!" I tried so, so hard to force out words but all that came out were incoherent grunts so she repeated the action. I screamed and began to cry from the pain and she threatened, "I can't stop until you speak to me." Thank God above, the doctor came in at that moment and the nurse stopped immediately. I went home with two welts and woke up the next day with bruises. Now, I can understand a lot of things but I cannot understand that. I had informed the staff at the urgent care that I had a neurological condition (luckily they asked as a routine question so I was able to answer before the seizure began). The EMS told the nurses at Jewish. As the nurses were talking to each other, I could hear them saying "she has a neurological condition but we don't know what kind". I sincerely cannot understand how a medical professional would take that information and assume that the patient is not speaking by choice. And if a patient was not speaking by choice, to inflict injury in order to prompt them to comply. It blows my mind that patients coming in with a disability would be hurt and threatened to comply to demands they cannot meet. It's a hospital, right? Of all places, this should be a place with staff who can wrap their minds around language impairments. It is also worth mentioning that I arrived to the hospital on oxygen. They didn't provide oxygen or any kind of respiratory support while I was there despite the fact that my oxygen was low. After the nurses and doctors left, my machines had alarms going off for 5-10 minutes. I watched the monitor, which said that my oxygen was hovering between 80 and 83%. That would explain why I couldn't feel my hands or face. I rummaged around for the call button but they had not provided me with one. Luckily, as I came out of the seizure on my own my oxygen restored itself. Absolutely unexplainable that no one would attend a patient's vital alarms especially if the patient arrived on oxygen. Later in the night, the doctor asked me for a phone number of someone she could call to get information from. She got my dad's number and said she would have someone call him for me. Next thing I know, the nurse entered and handed me a phone and told me to call my dad. At this point, I was out of the seizure but my language skills usually take a few hours to return. I gestured to my mouth and said "none" and pointed to her and then the phone and said "you". She rolled her eyes and said "I don't know what you're saying - pick up the phone when it rings". I picked up the phone but could not speak. Luckily, I was later assigned a different nurse who was interested in - you know - solving the problem. I mention the last part about the phone because, although small, I feel it really expresses that the nurse did not have my best interest in mind. Never in my life have I gone into the emergency room with no injuries and walked out with injuries intentionally inflicted by the staff. I can't justify the nurse's actions in my mind and my heart is sick knowing that this is likely happening to other people, too. read more

I went to Deerfield MRI last December for an MRI that had been ordered by the requesting facility. They never received them. Called Deerfield to have them sent (even though I had requested they be sent to the requesting facility the day of the appointment). They said they'd send them. Called requesting facility. Not received. Called Deerfield MRI back, and was told they were sent through Pax. Advised them that the requesting facility uses Powershare. Asked if there was another way to get them to them. I was told I would physically have to return to the facility (a considerable distance from my home) to pick up a CD and deliver them to requesting facility myself. I found this to be unacceptable. After speaking to multiple individuals, I finally connected with someone who indicated that they COULD connect me with the Film room to request that they be sent to the requesting facility. Way too much incompetence and too long on the phone for a test result to be sent to the requesting facility! read more

I give one star because there is no negative score to give. My recent experience there was a nightmare come to life. If you care about your own well being or that of a loved one stay as far away from Jewish Hospital / Mercy Health as you can. According to the doctor I needed this surgery and he was sure he could "get it all" no problem. I had the (unsuccessful) surgery on a Monday morning at 10 am. It was to take 2 hours. I woke up in recovery at 2:30 pm. I was left in recovery for six hours because there was no room to move me into until 8:30 that evening. When I was taken to a room, it was freezing. And I mean freezing, sixty five degrees. I was stuck in the cold all night until the next day when I was able to get up and move around. It was then that I discovered a thermostat on the wall that was covered up with something so as not to be visible. It was set on 65 degrees. Did any of the caregivers know about this? Who knows? Thankfully I was able to check out the next day. At the post-op checkup the doctor didn't even come in the room, I think he was hiding in the closet. His assistant gave me the bad news and I left. The doctor has not even called to ask how I am doing. All in all very shabby treatment. As I said, if you care about your own wellbeing or that of a family member stay as far away from Jewish Hospital / Mercy Health as you can. read more

I was at the Jewish Hospital ER on Friday (10/19) evening. The receptionist that was on duty was extremely rude. There was a woman that had been brought in by ambulance and decided not to be seen. She went to the receptionist desk and asked to be taken home. The receptionist told her that they didn't do that and she couldn't help her. I understand that they don't provide transportation to homes but it was the way she treated her that I didn't like. She was WAY meaner than she needed to be. The woman proceeded to sit down and start crying. Two men went over to sit with her and comfort her. One of the men was in a wheelchair and wanted some water. The woman asked the receptionist for a cup to get water for him and the receptionist told her to go sit down, very rudely. If you go there she is a Caucasian woman with blonde hair and blue frame glasses. I don't know if they had some sort of history or not but I hope that I never have to deal with her if I need to go again. She needs some sort of sensitivity training. read more

My mother is 89 and suffers from late-onset dementia. She was transferred to Jewish from her assisted living facility due to a spike in her blood pressure and concerns over a possible stroke. She was sent with full medical records, including her COVID vaccination. Jewish lost all her records while she was in the emergency room, requested new ones, and lost those too. They then admitted her to a COVID ward even though my sister was in the facility with a picture of Mom's vaccination record on her phone. We couldn't visit Mom for SIX DAYS. Next, they called me the night she was admitted to sync on Mom's medication list. THEY HAD IT WRONG. The next day the hospital pharmacy called to confirm the medication list. THEY STILL HAD IT WRONG. They continued to give my mother non-prescribed medications for FOUR DAYS. I finally got a call from one of the residents and let them have it on this issue, and they promised to resolve it with the pharmacy and call me back within four hours. I NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE AT JEWISH AGAIN. Seems to me like they realized their mistake, spoke to their "risk management" team, and then shut down all communication to me as Mom's medical Power of Attorney. Finally, on the day they released her they put her in a transport still wearing her hospital gown (they didn't let her get dressed), with electrode pads still stuck on her chest, and the transport dumped her in the lobby of the assisted living facility WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE SHE WAS THERE ON A SUNDAY. I checked with both by mother's neurologist and primary care physician, and neither received a call from anyone at Jewish to understand how she was currently being treated. Jewish has a stated "Patient Bill of Rights" on their web site that they frequently and routinely violated in the treatment of my mother. No way my mother or any other loved one is EVER going back there! read more

The Jewish hospital is an elite center of excellent medicine. I specifically work in the surgical realm of this institution and i can safely say we have above and beyond care. Our disciplines range from every kind of surgery specialty, i.e. surgical oncology, vascular, cardio-thoracic, plastics, urological, etc. Our physicians not only stay up to date on the most current research, data and management, but they provide compassion in their care. There is a surgical residency there that provides 24/7 patient care and every patient is treated like an equal and given 115% effort, time and attention. IF you are a patient that needs any surgical attention, this is the hospital to pay your visit. You will not only receive higher level care, you will receive a multi-disciplinary treatment model that will make minimal errors in the care of your disease state. They recently added a brand new Emergency room and many more surgical suites. Nurses are very well trained in surgical post-operative management. You are in GREAT hands. read more

I am not sure why this hospital is getting such bad reviews. My mom has been admitted twice in the past 30 days and has received nothing but the most excellent care. Everyone in the ER and on the nursing floors has been absolutely wonderful. The staff is attentive and caring, they listen when I give them information about my mom. The floor nurse even called me and gave me her direct number on her cell phone in case I have any questions or wanted an update on my mom. Such has not been the experience at other area hospitals. My mom is 83 and has dementia and can sometimes be scared, confused, and upset. This is absolutely my go to hospital if my mom or my family including myself needs medical attention. I cannot thank you enough for taking such good care of my mom. read more

So I was totally blown away by the great service and hospitality and care by the staff....then I received the bills. Free valet....no. I paid for that valet and then some. Even after I paid all of the bills I had received up until almost a year later. They sent out a new bill saying the dr messed up and the bill needed adjusting. Fact is they offered a 15% discount for paying my bills in full (which I did), they wanted to get that money back somehow. I will never revisit this hospital again. read more

Jewish hospital Kenwood rehab center was a wonderful experience the new department is of course very clean and up to date. The rooms are large and very pleasant. The staff was great very attentive. They always asked are you OK do you need anything ect...the exercise room had all the equipment you would need to rehab. The food of course is from the new menu you place your order and get it within 25 minutes and there is a pretty good selection. The doctors were great took time to explain what was needed to help you recover. The have pt/ot/and speech therapy all the technicians were wonderful as well. read more

I had my second tkr on May 11, dr Michelle Andrews was the surgeon, it could not have been more successful , from pre op through recovery to the nurses on 5 south the pca'a and social worker Shannon and who can forget the therapy team ! Oh and since last year the food has dramatically improved , when you are recovering it all matters. Thanks to this team effort my knee will continue to improve. Communication with the family about our Dad's care has been very spotty and limited to our questions only. They need to have more information and complete information when they talk with the family. They have also given conflicting information between the Dr.s and the care giving staff and nurses. read more

I have had Dr Mark Kuby for my doctor since about 1980. I like him but every time I try to make an appointment they take forever to answer the phone. It took 7 minutes and 10 seconds to get an answer today. When people choose the calling for an appointment selection you would think they would answer. I have been thinking about changing where I go and today I made that decision. I have been going to Care First Urgent care for some time. You can walk right in. They answer their phone right away. I have been to Christ hospital a couple times and I like them.Goodbye Jewish Medical Center. I will not miss you. read more
