Hats were $28-35 and the hooded sweatshirts were a nice $45. Running shoes (we only checked the prices for comparison) were a little more expensive than the chains, but supporting local businesses could justify the difference in cost. When checking out, be prepared to pay a premium to the local shopping experience and the tacky "who assisted you?" obviously for a commission credit is uncomfortable!

After filling out the paperwork and sending a check deposit, as requested, I worked with a representative to book an all-inclusive trip to Puerto Vallarta for $2,435.84, which I paid in full. Three days before leaving for our honeymoon, I had a bad feeling about the whole thing. This led me to calling the resort to confirm our reservation -- which thank goodness I did -- because we discovered that the whole trip was a scam and the travel agent had stolen our money. The representative not only stated this was a case of fraud, but admitted it had been happening for months to other clients from the company. This left us without our dream honeymoon and out $1,500 in nonrefundable airfare, on top of the money paid for the trip. I notified Tracina Fisher, the owner of Formalities, in hopes of preventing this from happening to other brides. While she initially expressed sympathy and asked how she and Peter Hayes (the Marketing Concepts Representative) could help, their tone quickly changed. When I asked if their companies could help recoup the $1,500 we lost--considering this situation never would have occurred without their promotion--they became extremely rude and blamed me instead of taking accountability for putting their customer through this situation. It's devastating to lose our dream honeymoon to fraud and even worse to feel abandoned by the businesses we trusted. While we are dealing with this issue with both federal and state authorities, I strongly urge anyone considering this store or promotion to proceed with caution. This experience has caused immense financial and emotional distress, and I hope it prevents others from suffering the same.

But lo and behold, smack in the middle of High Street you'll find an expansive, thoroughly stocked 2nd hand store. My visit coincided with the beginning of the holiday season so they had an entire section devoted to all sorts of decorative Christmassy things. The variety this place has to offer is what really blew me away. Clothes are a given but it was the VHS supply, home-goods, purses, kitchen-wares and other odds and ends that really surprised me. This isn't a trendy, ironic thrift store that discriminates over what they'll accept. Faithcenter thrift store will pretty much take whatever they can get. That being said you'll have to dig through loads of the-not-that-fantastic to find something worth buying, but that's half the fun anyway!

If your pockets aren't quite as deep, then you can go with the misc brands that they carry. The t-shirts are screen printed and run under $10, and you can easily find a hoody around $20. Just don't expect too much from the quality, but then again, you get what you pay for. On top of apparel, they also carry some misc goods. You can snag some goodies for your pets, or even your golf clubs. Tons of variety here. Varying quality depending on how much you want to spend, but c'mon.
