Wow, TSA got into a fight with a passenger. Haven't seen that yet. The TSA was very rude to everyone. My bag got put on a different conveyor belt and I wasn't sure what was happening because it was sitting there for quite awhile. Finally I asked a TSA member what was happening and he said it needed to be searched and finally gave it back to me. You also have to take out your laptop/ electronics in a separate bin even if you are CLEAR/ pre-check. It's very crowded in security, there were individual lines for each lane of bins. Thankfully I was really early so I was okay with it taking awhile. The terminal itself is really nice. There's not too many food options, but enough. I think there's Wendy's, Shisho restaurant and some snack stores. I appreciate that there's charging plugs at every chair. The Wi-Fi isn't great, but that's okay. read more

Functional, it's the word I'll use for terminal 2. It's obviously old, 2 levels and feels oppressive in it's construction. It gets full of people quickly and the gates are small with seating that says it charges your cell phone, but does not, because the power supply is unplugged. There is a central hub for eating, several small gift stores, but none that supplied antacids for upset stomach. read more

Convenience is one of the top most things I look for in any airport. The bathrooms were clean and tidy - I usually judge places based on how clean they keep their restrooms. It was pretty easy to navigate through in and out of the airport comparison to LAX or any other bigger airports. The security lines are not ridiculously long and all the security personnel are very patient and nice. Only time I had to wait for a security check - wait being less than 15 minutes. There were decent amount of food/drink/coffee places available within the airport. Wish they had more charging stations by the seating area. read more

Please put this terminal out of its misery! I fly Delta a lot for business and while we typically fly out of T4, we almost always arrive in T2. I've heard rumors they're tearing down T2 to expand T1, please tell me that's true! Everytime I land here it's like walking into a scene from The Walking Dead. Construction, lack of signage, old carpets, closed bathrooms (no seriously WHY are the bathrooms always closed here?), and a Sky Club that has seen better days. The only saving grace is they have plenty of stores to grab snacks for the plane and decent seating. I cannot wait for this terminal to go away. read more

I made the investment in pre check and I love it; it really makes airport trips go faster. This was my first time flying out of jfk, and I was impressed by how quickly everything moved in security, my only complaint is that they didn't close my bag up after searching it. However that's what I get for taking a candle in my carry on bag. The inner terminal is great, they have it so it doesn't seem like a mad house, and there's some great places for eating and shopping. Another plus is that there are phone chargers in the seats that I always find to be a plus. Since NYC is a place I travel to frequently, I'm glad JFK is such an efficient airport, can't wait to see it again next month. read more

This review is strictly for picking up for arrival flights. JFK is a confusing airport in itself. I got all turned around with the Terminal 2 signs and ended up in Terminal 1 (because it said terminal 2 both lanes). You CAN access terminal 2 in terminal 1 but the signs are small. JFK employees really don't want you to wait for passengers and they get easily aggravated if you're parked for pickup. So what are we supposed to do? Waste gas and go in circles around the airport until everyone gets out from the luggage carousel? Just tell them you're waiting and look away. I can't with the JFK employees, they're so rude. Not to mention the people who keep their doors open while they socialize with their loved ones and no one can get through. However, the JFK employees don't get those people to leave. Makes no sense. First time here for a layover and I already hate this airport. I arrived in this terminal and got interrogated just for wanting to leave. Not in a "can I help you" kind of way, a "I need to know where you're going or else you shall not pass" kind of way. Sir, you are a Delta employee, not the CIA. I tried to explain I had a five-hour layover and just wanted to go another terminal. Still, the man there wouldn't let me go until I told him my destination. I've been to many airports in the country and this has never happened. I was spared from the smells other reviewers describe because of the COVID mask mandate. I got in and out of this terminal as soon as possible because there's nothing to see here. No notable dining or shopping options or anything else of interest. To top things off, the coffee shop here, World Bean was inexplicably out of all beverages besides coffee and iced tea. Not good news when you have a morning flight and want some espresso. read more

Well can't say that I am totally surprised by the average 2 star reviews for this terminal But where exactly does the blame lie ?? I mean it's a much nicer terminal than most obviously Delta has done some big upgrades & if u haven't been by u may not have noticed. The large open space w nice seating areas is nice, some decent shopping choices & quite a few places to eat make this terminal more enjoyable. Security line can be a hit or miss this is largely due to the time u fly, I've always done well easy process for the most part. If u have CLEAR or TSA pre check in the line is much shorter. My few complains here late night arrival there was barely anything open , same for early mornings not a lot of breakfast choices. They need to do better w the options during those times enough people travel during these times. Delta needs to do better w the on time departures & arrivals this has pretty much gone both ways w me good & on time & then crazy delays which are never fun to deal with. Overall not a bad airline, hopefully they can do better w on time departures & arrivals. read more

Small but to the point. If you're flying to Canada or within the US this is the tiny delta terminal. Pros are that check in is usually quite quick and especially during the daytime hours (10 minutes or so) and that there is minimal walking time from arrival to your gate. The cons are there are minimal places to grab food and drinks. 2 restaurants and a few little pop up stands. You can get the basics but it's nothing like Terminal 4. I'd say it's basic but good! read more

Easily one of the worst airports in America, so outdated and dirty. Been here many times in the past several years either transiting or flying in and out. Definitely not a fan of this place. There's always severe delays due to not enough terminals and gates to accommodate all the volume of flights. Also, bad weather hits this area constantly causing many passengers to be stranded. The seats and floor are just filthy, and they look like they are from the 70's and have not been updated. The waiting area are very small and the walkways are very narrow, so when you try to get from one gate to another gate, it's difficult to go around the crowds of people. TSA is of course super slow, no surprise here. If you are traveling to/from JFK or connecting, allocate extra time. read more

I agree with most reviews, it's a small, sad terminal. Wendy's is the best food option, other than that are 3 overpriced sit-down places, and your usual chip/sandwich stands. I've gotta say I wasn't Wendy's breakfast sandwiches. I came for an early flight so things weren't so crowded, there were plenty of places to sit and plug in your phone (outlets, not USB ports). Nothing interesting to kill your time with. TSA still took 30 minutes to get through even though the line was fairly short. Unused scanners and closed lanes seemed to be the reason why. The agents here seemed especially miserable :( I know their jobs are difficult and I don't know what to do about it except be very nice to them. Sorry guys. read more

JFK Terminal 2 is easily one of the worst terminals in any major city. Unfortunately, if you are flying Delta to JFK, you are likely to route through the gates at this terminal. This terminal has very poor air circulation. You can immediately feel the stuffiness in the air. It definitely leans towards being hot. Associated with that, it smells of the food from the restaurants/eateries, especially Wendy's. For me, it reeks of stale air and stale oil, especially in the center portion. The food choices are very limited and expensive. Everyone ends up ordering from Wendy's or the bar/brewery. Argh. The bathrooms are small but well maintained. If I have a long layover, I take the free shuttle bus over to gates A/B for a much nicer terminal to hang out. The shuttles can be found off one corner, down some stairs, and is within secured zone. There is a Delta lounge on the mezzanine. It's ok. Still small and stuffy but better than sitting downstairs. read more

Not nearly as bad as Terminal 1, but it's still bad. Delta runs the shop here at T2 and it's not pretty. Sure, there's a Sky Club upstairs. And there are the usual restaurants and shops so that you can get your drinks and snacks for the flight. But it's loud, it's confusing and it's utterly chaos. If you have to get to or from T2 from the AirTrain, you're outside. Not just groundside, you are actually outside in the air and the rain and the snow. It's crap. Delta operates an airside bus for transfer to T4, but not to their partners (Air France, KLM, etc.) at T1. Sucks. read more

This terminal is outdated on so many levels, from the older Clear machines to overburdened TSA check points (leading to bad attitudes from staff) and a heinous Delta Sky Club. Really that comes down to the food... paying $39 to relax in the lounge and enjoy the food should be just that, enjoyable. This was like a rejected school lunch. Even the bananas were battered and bruised. Terminal 4 is so far superior it's not even funny. The one plus is there are several restaurants downstairs. So unless you MUST have some privacy or free wi-fi, I'd recommend just staying in the downstairs area over the sky club. read more

Not terrible but not great. Lots of seats, crowded but great if you have TSA precheck. I did TSA precheck so it took 15 minutes. Looked for a seat... some plugs work and some don't. I wish all of them work. Food wise... there's bread. Typical airport pick up and go. Customer service is lax. Floors are 7/10 clean. Would I come back? Yes. Because I don't hate it not to. I've always said, airports can be the happiest place and the saddest place all at once. Obviously heading off to some warm destination is a plus, or heading home to be with family and friends is even better. Key notes: food and beverages always seem to be small portions and overpriced. Most terminal areas have outlets and "charging stations" for all tech devices; heaven forbid we don't have our cell phones charged up. Eeegad! The only downside I find, and this is at any airport is this... they call seating for the flight by first class, then business class, then military personnel, families with small children or those requiring extra time/assistance. Ever notice that no matter what section you are seated after that, it's a free for all and people just cut you off in line, which isn't even a formalized line. People.... you paid handsomely for your seat.... your guaranteed a spot. What in the actual eff? This is where bad behavior and manners get tossed to the way side. Terminal 2 at JFK Airport in New York is the Delta terminal. We did not have time to browse at the airport, so went straight to our gate after going through security. On our way to the gate we made note of which restaurant/kiosk looked interesting, to grab a bite to go...to either eat in the plane or at the gate, if time. What a surprise, when we got to our gate. Rather than the usual rows and rows of seats at each gate...there were pairs of comfy chairs (almost club chairs you'd find in someone's living room) facing each other with a table between, and individual chairs, each with its own table. On the tables were tablets, one per person, on which you could order food, watch shows, play games...all free. You can also use the charging station at each seat if needed. I've found myself, too often, sitting in the floor near an outlet, at my gate, since no other chargers were available. If you order food, (the options are placed in the concourse you're in) it is delivered to you at your table. How very civilized! We played games while waiting for our food and had time to eat our lunch while still at the gate. This was a much more comfortable option than waiting to eat in the plane. We had cooked to order crepes from Croque Madame, the hot ingredients still hot when eaten. This gate layout and follow through is a wonderful idea, well thought out and implemented. Kudos to the designer and the terminal for making this great idea work so smoothly. read more

Terminal 2 is awful. These people need to work on their upgrade, and fast. The terminal is disgusting - not frequently sanitized. The bathrooms are very unsanitary. Most of the stalls are out of order, and if you can find one that isn't, the door will not lock. The service at the restaurants is not sufficient with the amount of travelers coming through. I understand that they are understaffed, but we cannot wait for 2 hours for a cheeseburger. We need to catch flights!! We have limited time, and its not fair that we should be kept waiting forever. We went to BKLYN Beer Garden and the restaurant was not clean. Food all over the floor, dirty tables. Bright fluorescent lights over head makes it feel as if you're sitting in a department store. This is a message for Delta - Please move to the new terminal fast!! read more

I was disappointed when I realized my flight was out of Terminal 2. Its my least favorite JFK terminal. I sit here writing my review because there is really nothing else to do here. The terminal is very small, and only has a few news stands and a couple of subpar food options. I usually can entertain myself by going for walks on the people movers, but this terminal is so small you could walk it all in about 4 minutes (max). The only good thing is there are high ceilings and big windows here so it is not so claustrophobic. It's just a bit boring, but I've been to worse. If you take the airtrain from Jamacia, be aware that you need to walk outside for about 3 minutes to get to the terminal and then go upstairs one floor. The security lines are usually short since the terminal is so small. Terminal 4 is much better. read more

JFK is a huge airport in a very busy section of New York City, if you have a flight out of JFK and you choose to drive to it, do not listen to your GPS and give yourself double the time it says to take to get there. If you are taking trains from New Jersey take a train to Penn station, then the LIRR to Jamaica and then there is a JFK airport train from Jamaica Station to the various terminals. I prefer this method over driving because trains come every 5-30 min. JFK has five or more terminals because it is that huge. You must know your terminal before arriving or you will be absolutely lost. Listen to the staff as changes and delays are the norm here. Also bring your patience as there are many many people in the airport and the line to check in, and go through security takes sometimes up to two hours. JFK does offer The best prices for international travel in the tri-state area and the options for travel or unlimited. Just understand that the process to get here will not leave you in a very good mood. The airport itself however is as clean as an airport can be. There are plenty of duty-free shops and restaurants to help past the time if you've gotten through the security line sooner than you thought and have plenty of time before your flight and or if you are transferring. Do understand that if you were transferring within JFK and your connecting flight is in a different terminal, you may have to leave your terminal and go through security again in the new terminal therefore you might need extra time between your connecting flights. Not really a fan of this terminal. It's small, old and cramped. A lot of smaller flights on regional jets fly out of here and they board four or five flights at a time and it gets super crowded. There is no covered walk to the Airtrain like at Terminal 4 and at the former Terminal 3. If you're coming from the Airtrain, there's a slow elevator or else you have to carry your bags up to the main floor to go through security. Although my last time through, security was very quick and Officer Rizzo, who checked my ID, couldn't have been more delightful. read more

Food options here are horrific. Take a ride over to the B gates if possible. (by jitney... fancy talk for bus) The baggage claim is the smallest i have seen anywhere. You need to walk outside (in the rain) to get to the train (if you can find it) to the car rental/hotel shuttles. The menus on this concourse are all ipads, with nothing on the wall so you have to wait to sit to see what they have, probably they are hoping you wont want to stand back up. read more

This is an old and dated terminal. If it's your first time here you better follow the group of people leaving your flight to find the baggage claim. Once you've grabbed your luggage you're dumped to the underground taxi pickup area. Note, if you take the red eye there are hardly any taxis here. Want an uber of lyft? Good luck getting them to show up here either. If you're departing it's not that bad. They have your basic food and news stands with some wifi areas. No frills otherwise. Let me tell you there's not too many good reviews about this terminal but it is what it is. you can't do anything about it. But today is our lucky day we were able to get our luggage from the carousel in record time the problem is when you go outside and try to get into your car. There are a ton of shops and restaurants, but none of them serve booze before 10am. Shut up, I have needs. Lots of birds randomly inside the terminal as well. I have mixed feelings about this terminal. This was my first time at this specific terminal for Delta. The general location is clean enough, but once we stood in line for security check I became a little doubtful. The line moved steadily so no issue there but once we arrived at the security checkpoint counter to have our items looked at it seemed so unorganized. They only had one security line open and it was caotic. There are four places people can step up so four people at any time are waiting to put their luggage on the belt. The less items you have the better with that process. There are many food choices here including Wendy's, pizza, a bar, etc. It is a quiet terminal which is also nice. The asswhip terminal for Delta flights. I've been here about 3 times over the past few years for long layovers and it's just a shitty place to be compared to other airports. You're trapped in this terminal, and you have limited food options. All the beer on tap is extremely expensive, and the food is similarly priced. It's usually crowded and at some point the put a bunch of single seats it with little iPads at each to play games and stuff on. The lack of seating for each gate is very obvious, and this just made it worse. read more

I'm always super disappointed when I find my flight leaves out of Terminal 2. It is small, unclean, and there's absolutely nothing to do here, especially compared to all of the other terminals I've been to in JFK. There are absolutely minimal food choices here, either Wendy's or one of those overpriced stands with questionable subs. Otherwise you can sit at a sit down restaurant, which is unappealing to me when I travel. Being so small, I don't even have the option of walking the terminal and seeing something that is even vaguely interesting, the three shops can't be much bigger than about 20 steps to walk the entire store and have absolutely nothing interesting in them. Bathrooms are almost never clean and have smelled every time I've used them. I know often when travelling out of JFK you don't really have a choice of which terminal you have to use, but be warned that this one is particularly rough. read more

Definitely not the most exciting terminal so if your flight is delayed it's probably terrible. The food options are super overpriced but having been to this terminal several times it's easy to get past security. Food options are ok- I've eaten everywhere here. I was the only one online at the TSA precheck. It has alcohol, place to buy water and a few food options. I've been to some really crappy terminals and this is really not bad. So suck it up and be glad that you didn't have to wait long in the security line read more

CROWDED! Looks, sounds and feels like someone announced a blue light sale special and everyone is packed in trying to find the deal. Terminal 2 is dated, muggy and dreary. Very limited food selections which are also difficult to access. Sardines have more spacious accommodations. Terminal 2 is the Delta hub which hosts the mile high club on the upper level. Not sure it offers much of a respite given the music can be heard on the main level in the opposite corner of the club. read more
