The worst hospital food EVER! Even though you do not choose to be a patient in the hospital, at least, they should see to it that you have edible food.

My Experience at JFK Medical Center's Acute Rehab Facility - A Journey of Healing and Compassion Recovering from a medical emergency is never easy, but the team at The Acute Rehab inpatient facility at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL made all the difference in my journey. On December 19, 2024 I suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke in the right basal ganglia and thalamic region of my brain impairing my ability to move the left side of my body. After a week at Wellington Regional Hospital I was transferred to JFK for Acute inpatient Rehab. From the moment I arrived, I was treated not just as a patient but as family. The level of care, compassion, and professionalism I experienced here was beyond anything I could have hoped for. Exceptional Care From Start to Finish Every single staff member played a role in my recovery, but there were a few extraordinary individuals who truly went above and beyond. Their kindness, dedication, and expertise helped me regain my strength, confidence, and independence. Nursing Staff - The Heart of My Healing * Anita - She truly listened to my concerns and, without exaggeration, saved my life. * Sandrine - An absolute angel who brought warmth and kindness to every interaction. * Linda, Michelle, Joanne, and Andrea - Each of them provided compassionate and attentive care, making my stay as comfortable as possible. Patient Care Technicians - Providing Comfort Like Family * Fabiana - Treated me as if I were one of her own, always bringing me warm blankets and tucking me in. * Marie - Cared for me like a mother, ensuring I was comfortable and supported every step of the way. * Paulette & Paulina - Both were phenomenal, making sure I was well taken care of at all times. Physical Therapy - The Team That Got Me Walking Again * Paul - A miracle worker who never let me give up. His motivation pushed me to take my first steps again. * Roel - Always consistent, always caring, and always pushing me toward progress. * Jayde - Tough but in the best way possible. She challenged me, and I'm grateful for it. Occupational Therapy - Restoring My Strength and Dignity * Sarah - After spending a week in the hospital, she was the one who made me feel human again. * Rebekah, Taneka & Chantal- Are incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and supportive in my recovery. Hospitalist Staff - Professionalism and Care *Dr. Susan V. Hanson-Leal & Patricia Jabrowski, NP: They were both always knowledgeable, quick to follow up and treat me with respect & kindness A Place of Healing, Hope, and Family Together, these incredible individuals created an environment where I felt safe, cared for, and motivated to push forward. Their combined efforts were instrumental in my progress, and I cannot thank them enough. While I hope to never need inpatient rehab again, if I ever do, I know I'll be in the best hands possible. If you or a loved one ever require acute rehabilitation, I highly recommend JFK Medical Center's Acute Rehab Facility. The staff here are nothing short of heroes, and I will forever be grateful for the care they provided.

It is only when I call and I tell them that I can send them the receipt that they check it and say, "oh yes, you don't have a balance." Double billing is a practice among many in the medical field. Just be sure that you're checking and keeping track with this facility.

Due to her rudeness I chose a surgeon at a different practice, sorry Dr A. But thanks for taking great care of my dad. It's the way the office is run that gets me crazy. Making appointments can make your hair go gray. After hanging on hold for anywhere between 5 to 18 minutes after calling the main number, you best be sure they are truthful when giving an appointment many weeks out. There are probably appts sooner if you are standing in front of a friendly office receptionist. And if you are calling to reach a doctor or his/her medical staff, good luck with that. If you are already a patient in the practice, best to ask your doctor for an extension to reach their medical assistant in case you have an emergency and need to be seen immediately. A broken bone or excruciating pain cannot wait for weeks.

He went in…read moretalking, alert, and recovering from diverticulitis surgery -- only needing help learning to manage his wound vac and ostomy bag. On Mother's Day, I walked in to find him gasping for air. The nurse told me "he's fine, he's been like that for two hours." He was not fine -- he was in respiratory distress and ultimately suffered an anoxic brain injury that led to his death. My sister, an ER nurse 1,800 miles away, had to direct the code team through FaceTime because they didn't know what to do. The hospital later altered records 17 times after the incident. There was no accountability because Florida's "Free Kill Law" prevents families from suing if their parent is unmarried or has no dependents. Please think twice before trusting this facility with your loved one -- what happened to my father should never happen to anyone.

I had issues with my breathing and I was too weak to work with therapy. I came to Select to get better. While I was here I had a respiratory crisis and needing a tracheostomy and a ventilator. I had to be seen by doctors everyday and taken care of in the ICU for a couple of weeks. Little by little I began to improve and breath more on my own. I started working with physical, occupational and speech therapy. It took a couple of months and this place helped me get back to my life. I am able to walk, talk and eat on my own again. I get to home now and I am thankful for that. There are so many people I want to thank for making a difference in my stay. Almost all the nurses were fantastic. Kelly & Katie made me feel like I was a family member and Demi, Magdal and Daphnee were always on point. The respiratory therapists helped me to get back to breathing.... Terrill and Phillippe were some of my favorite RTs. Eddie In Physical therapy helped me to get up walking again. It became a routine to get coffee myself with PT once I was walking... fyi, Sarah Makes the Best coffee. There are so many other people who made an impact on my stay that I am thankful for.
