Mostly good, but several workmanship issues…read more Creekside Coverings recently completed our outdoor stair reconfiguration project, transforming our straight stairway into a more functional design with a landing and a 90-degree turn onto a paver patio. While the team finished on schedule, the final result revealed some craftsmanship challenges. The project's core functionality meets our expectations. However, in our opinion, certain details fall short of what we would consider more commonly-used construction practices. Key observations follow. 1. The deck planks on the landing are installed parallel to the support joists. This necessitated the addition of blocking between the joists. The blocking was added after the deck planks were secured to the landing frame. In addition, the decking appears to be fastened only to the landing's frame, without direct attachment to the joists or blocking. 2. The newly-constructed landing appears to have been designed without sufficient attention to detail, in our opinion. The shape of the landing necessitated the placement of an additional railing post adjacent to an existing post on the landing to properly secure the bottom section staircase railing. 3. The two new posts on the new landing are slightly different in size than the original posts, and their caps do not match the existing post caps. The contractor mentioned these items to us after they were already installed on the stairway, and he told us that they would not affect functionality. With attention to the observations above, this would easily be a five star project.

During the installation, he bragged about how door installation was his forte. When he left, I thought all was well and he asked me to leave a review. A few months later I had a football game party and a couple of guys noted the extremely shoddy workmanship of the installation of the door. I felt really duped by Don Bellehumeur. One of the guys even found where he screwed up and instead of correcting it, he went ahead and proceeded to deceive me. I contacted Menards because that is where I purchased the door and that is where I was given Don's contact information. Menards asked for photos of the poorly installed door and they then met with Don to see if they could come up with some sort of resolution. The Menards store manager then contacted me and told me Don refused to do the right thing and re install the door. To Menards credit, they did tell me they will never do business with "Don's Home Improvement" again and will never recommend him to another customer. I now have to have the door reinstalled all at my expense. In the meantime and until the weather improves, I have a door through which you can see daylight and on which the deadbolt is not properly aligned, raising safety concerns. Run, don't walk, away fron this guy. He's got a real line of bull. And to all those females out there and not so handy men, beware of these types of contractors who will take advantage of anyone that doesn't know the difference between a reputable contractor and a shyster like Don Bellehumeur. He even helped me install my ceiling fan, but TBH, I ended up helping him set most of it up... All I needed him for was to mount it, but after helping him with 85% of the work and a couple hundred $ later, it was ok... I also had him install my new kitchen sink faucet, but unfortunately "I" didn't notice that it was installed backwards (The handle is on the left side, not the right where it belongs) He gave me some excuse about how that's how he does them and that's what the instructions called for... So I took a photo of the HUGE WALL OF FAUCETS at Lowes where I got mine, to show him that EVERY SINGLE ONE is installed on the right. He DID say he'd fix it though! (For $50 of course...) So for small jobs, he's acceptable (Just make DARN SURE you're 100% satisfied before he leaves and assume nothing) I had a screened in side porch that lasted just over 20yrs. Jim's "Remodel" didn't last half a season... I tried to work with him and he just left it at "Call Apex Pros" TLDR: Small stuff around the house, he's good at and very reasonably priced, but If you have a bigger project in mind, I'd HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere because pictures and words do no justice

We had hoped to get them in prior to our furniture arriving but, as with everything, that didn't happen. Even so, they were able to finish the project within the time they had originally estimated and everything looks fantastic! Everyone was extremely easy to work with, professional, and friendly as well. A lot of care was taking to keep the work areas clean and to protect our furniture as well. Eventually we'll need to repaint our exterior and it's a no brainer who we'll call.
