Five Stars for the manager and tall young man. ---------------- I came in today to replace my almost-dead car battery. A friendly employee informed me that it would take one to one and a half hours. After waiting about two hours, I checked with the front desk, where a man with black-framed glasses told me the battery hadn't arrived yet and was still on the way. I asked if he could check the battery's status and estimate when my car would be ready, but he said he didn't know. I explained that I needed to go home soon and asked if someone could give me a ride, but he just said no. Yes, he simply said no and didn't provide any helpful information, instead trying to brush me off. About 30 minutes later, I asked the same man again about the battery. He said it still hadn't arrived and mentioned he wasn't responsible for delivering the battery (or something to that effect -- I don't remember his exact words). I told him that I needed to go home soon and wanted my car back. He insisted that I couldn't drive my car because the battery was dead. When I asked for a jump-start, he refused, even though I had driven my car there using a jump-starter. Since I was able to drive my car to the shop, I believed it should have been possible to jump-start it again. Despite my repeated requests to get my car back if they couldn't replace the battery soon, he ignored me, walked to the work area, and dismissively said, "Whatever." ------------ ( FIVE STARS for the manager and the tall young man ) Later, I spoke with the manager. The manager promptly checked the battery status and ensured I got home in time for my meeting. Thanks to the manager's help, I made it home on time. I also want to thank the tall young man who assisted me with checking the battery, the driver status, and the check-in and check-out process. ------------ However, I am very disappointed by the man with the glasses and beard. His behavior was rude and irresponsible. I chose not to argue with him because I am pregnant, but his actions made me feel genuinely upset.

I expected a proper diagnostic to confirm the issue before any work was done. Shortly thereafter, The mechanic confirmed that it was the starter, but it would cost nearly $900. That is half a months salary for a young person like me, but I felt I had little choice. After the repair, the same problems starting my car persisted. When I returned, the mechanic checked my car again and admitted that the real problem was actually a corroded battery, and acknowledged that the original diagnostic was not done properly. I asked for a refund since they had misdiagnosed the issue and charged me for a repair that didn't address the actual problem. At first, the mechanic who made the error was willing to take responsibility and refund me, but later the shop backtracked and offered a free battery instead, which nowhere near offset the cost of the starter. Monro's side of the story started out apologetic and offering to work with me (everyone makes mistakes and those that own up should be given a second chance was my thinking). However, with each altering version of Monro's side, it sounded more more defensive and "it is your fault", adding salt to the wound. They even tried to place the blame on me for "suggesting" that it could be the starter--despite it being their responsibility as professionals to diagnose the problem properly. This experience was incredibly frustrating. I paid nearly $900 for a repair I didn't need and was left with the original issue unresolved. At the end of the day, it is a mechanic's job to diagnose the problem, not the customer's. I can't recommend this shop and would strongly suggest an alternative shop particularly if you not knowledgeable in automotives and rely on the accurate diagnostics / professionals service of the mechanics.

My wheel lug nuts were grossly overtightened at this place…read more I had four old tires removed from summer (alloy) wheels and new tires, which I purchased elsewhere, mounted on the same wheels. The summer wheels/tires were then installed on my vehicle, replacing the winter wheels/tires. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable ($125 including tax). However, the very next day I had planned to remove the two front tires/wheels to enable front brake replacement. I managed to loosen the lug nuts on one front wheel, though the removal torque was clearly well beyond the Honda torque spec of 80 ft-lb. On the other front wheel, I managed to loosen two lug nuts (clearly more than 80 fit-lb), but the other two nuts wouldn't budge. I put a cheater bar on the wrench that came with the vehicle. Felt something move, but it turned out I had bent the wrench about 15 degrees and the lug nut still had not budged. So I instead used a 3/8 inch drive ratchet with the cheater bar. This was a bad idea, as the 3/8 inch drive immediately sheared clean off. Next idea was to contact a larger, stronger friend, who brought over a four-point tire iron. This dude attempted to loosen the lug nuts with the tire iron, but no luck. Fortunately, my friend also had an impact wrench. It took several seconds with the impact wrench at full power to loosen each of the two lug nuts. Fortunately, I didn't need to replace a flat tire on a cold, dark night or in a sketchy neighborhood. But it's incredible (and completely ridiculous) that a professional tire shop doesn't know how to (or doesn't care to) properly tighten a lug nut. I'm giving two stars only because the tire mounting work that was done seems fine and the cost was reasonable. But an utter fail for tightening the lug nuts.
