Town Fair Tire - Fresh looking tires!

I walked in on a Wednesday morning in October around 8:30am, a half hour after they opened. I asked…read moreif they had time for a walk-in for 4 new tires. I had 58K miles on my factory installed Michelin tires and I needed new ones before the winter. They greated me when I walked in, the salesman was extremely knowledgeable and helped his trainee how to do the inspection of the car, the old tires, and talk about the sale of the tires on hand. I chose the Goodyear Tires, these ones were nicer than the ones I researched online. The prices are competitive with Tire Rack but they also have a military discount if you are eligible for that. They have some perks I haven't seen offered at other tire places. They do free tire inspection, free tire rotation, and they will plug a flat for free. They also do a 30 trial on the tires and offer financing. I've been a customer with Town Fair Tire before in New London, CT and this experience reinforces my high opinion of their customer service and value. I really appreciate that I was in and out of there within an hour and a half today. It was a great overall experience and I highly recommend them to anyone shopping for new tires.

Gave him the budget etc. They have a large selection of wheels on display. After deciding which ones I wanted he actually brought them out to show what they would look like on the car. Once the wheels were delivered to their shop it was easy to set up an appointment for mounting. They look great & service was excellent. Definitely recommend

I expected a proper diagnostic to confirm the issue before any work was done. Shortly thereafter, The mechanic confirmed that it was the starter, but it would cost nearly $900. That is half a months salary for a young person like me, but I felt I had little choice. After the repair, the same problems starting my car persisted. When I returned, the mechanic checked my car again and admitted that the real problem was actually a corroded battery, and acknowledged that the original diagnostic was not done properly. I asked for a refund since they had misdiagnosed the issue and charged me for a repair that didn't address the actual problem. At first, the mechanic who made the error was willing to take responsibility and refund me, but later the shop backtracked and offered a free battery instead, which nowhere near offset the cost of the starter. Monro's side of the story started out apologetic and offering to work with me (everyone makes mistakes and those that own up should be given a second chance was my thinking). However, with each altering version of Monro's side, it sounded more more defensive and "it is your fault", adding salt to the wound. They even tried to place the blame on me for "suggesting" that it could be the starter--despite it being their responsibility as professionals to diagnose the problem properly. This experience was incredibly frustrating. I paid nearly $900 for a repair I didn't need and was left with the original issue unresolved. At the end of the day, it is a mechanic's job to diagnose the problem, not the customer's. I can't recommend this shop and would strongly suggest an alternative shop particularly if you not knowledgeable in automotives and rely on the accurate diagnostics / professionals service of the mechanics.
