I've had a number of bad experiences at local quick -service tire shops. It's been my experience that they tend to staff the place with low wage workers who know little about cars and simply don't give a hoot about the quality of their work. They're trained primarily to upsell and have large turnover rates. Mr. Tire is close by to me, and I thought they couldn't be any worse. Wrong,. These guys are a nightmare. I had three service visits to swap out my winter/snow tires on my bmw I3. My vehicle has staged wheels. Wide rims/tires in the rear, skinny tires and skinny rims up front. On all three of my visits to store #1326, these geniuses installed my wide set of rims at the front of my vehicle causing my front tires to hyper extend and dig into my suspension. This is a pretty glaring error. Even a layman can look at the rims and see an obvious side difference. The tires visible bulge when this is done. These guys missed that 3 service visits in a row. The store manager there alerted me to the damage on April 16th. He told me that I had some sort of strut problem. I subsequently booked an appointment with pepboys to have my struts examined. After examing my car, Pep Boys informed me that Mr. Tire improperly mounted and installed my tires and rims. They put the wider set up front, and damaged my tires as a result. I had the vehicle towed back to Mr. Tire. When I arrived (via Uber) the shop had my front weels removed and the car on the lift. It looked like they were in the middle of swapping my rims back into their proper place. Think the tech on duty spotted the error, and they were feverishly trying to correct before I showed up. Store manager came out into the office area. He was not happy to see me. He barked "What??!!? What do you want?!!??" I replied....'You see, my car has staged tires..." He cut me off and yelled "No! No!! That would mean I'm responsible for the blowout!!" He proceeded to bring me into the service area and blame the damage on pothole. I needed to contact the ciy for reimbursement" . Said I needed to file a warranty claim. Go talk to the tire vendor. I told him Pep Boys made that diagnosis. He flatly denied the problem. It's the struts nd I need to see a specialist. I contacted Pep Boys again. They reaffirmed their diagnosis. I contacted Mr. Tire again, they again denied responsibility. I had my vehicle towed to Autobahn Center. After several days of my car being offline, they gave me the same diagnosis:improperly installed wheels and rims. I brought this issue to Monro Tire Customer Service. Monro Tire, the parent company, apparently has no real dispute resolution process. Basically one of their reps calls the store, gets their version of events and regurgitates it to you. After 9 days and two escalations they still refused to pay for the damages. I then when to small claims court and demanded $1515. A month later, after Mr. Tire was served with a suit, I was contacted by Traveler's Insurance, After a month, dozens of emails and phone calls, texts and visits I was offered $1239 for damages. They would not cover a refund of the services. Monro did absolute nothing to correct the problem. No refund. No discounts or free service. Nothing in terms of customer service. I had to fight tooth and nail for two months just to have the damagers paid for. Mr. Tire damaged multiple tires, endangered my safety, deprived me the use of my car. They absolutely refused to stand by their work and their parent company did absolutely nothing to rectify the problem. Take a long hard look at the allegations of damage, grossly neglegent work and fraud in the past several months here on google and yelp. I am absolutely gobsmacked by the reckless and irresonsible behavior of the store manager and corporate customer service. Customer service please don't bother leaving a message saying you want me to give you more details. You had multiple opportunities to make this right, and refused. Don't pretend like you give a shit now. read more

My car has been making intermittent brake-related noise for the past six months or so. I took it to my "regular" shop over and over and they would make adjustments or change parts but the noise never went away. Thankfully, after the first visit they did it all for free. Lately, the noise has come back with a vengeance so I came here on my friend's recommendation. I knew it was from the rear axle but couldn't pin point it any more than that. We set up an appointment and I showed up on time. Literally as I was walking in the manager, Joe, was discussing a rear brake drum problem and the quote was eye-popping. I was scared as I figured my job would be the exact same. But, they took my car for a spin anyway and heard no noise. Truth be told, it was acting perfectly this morning. While I waited an hour, the manager left the store to run to Latham for parts and I was literally alone in the waiting room for 25 minutes. I could hear an employee in the garage complaining how he hated doing brake jobs, though later found out it was his day off. The language was colorful enough for Crayola. They took me in the back and showed me my brake drums and there were no signs of warping, rubbing, wear, or other problems. They suggested an inexpensive clean/lube which I agreed to. I mean, the brakes weren't making noise and I wasn't looking to pay a fortune to have everything replaced. As it turns out, Joe gave me a written estimate for a complete replacement of the rear brakes should it ever need it and the quote was extremely reasonable. This place has a 2.5 star average on Yelp, and I can see why. Either your experience is really good or really bad. Had I paid the quote I heard on the phone then, coupled with the experience I overheard and experienced, I would have left a poor review. But, Joe was friendly and honest with me and left me with a quote that is fair. So I am satisfied. Your mileage may vary. read more

My Son Joe guest# 1319119108 went into the Court street Binghamton NY location shop # 1319 to have his winter tires put on. When he came home he showed me his invoice. I have no problem with the cost of the service but I do have a problem with the fee charged to replace the valve cores. A valve core is reusable almost indefinitely especially since this car is a 2023. In addition a bag of 100 TPMS nickel plated valve cores from amazon is $7.99 that's less than .08 cents each and you're charging $6.00 each. I spoke with Dennis who claimed to be the store manager and he tried all the excuses to justify the ridiculous charge and the outrageous price. I should have known you would be ripping my son off since you're affiliated with Monro Muffler. You got us one time and we will never be back! Congratulations on losing another customer. P.S My Backwound is 30 years in the automotive repair business and as a matter of fact 8 years as a manager of your Norwich NY Monro Muffler location. I'm also going to have a conversation with NYS DMV about price gouging and missing in and out miles on the invoice which is a requirement in NY. I have been a customer of Mr. Tire location 1394 Central Ave, for almost 30 years. 8+ vehicles, more than 10 sets of tires, and hundreds of Oil changes. I am very disappointed in the decline of this location and the support of the ownership Monroe Tire. I brought my vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation on 9/13. The technician told me my tires were bald and they would not even pass inspection. I was surprised as I had just had my jeep inspected 8 weeks prior and had purchased a set of 80,000-mile Bridgestone tires there in March of 22, approximately 40,000 miles previously. After discussing this with Tim who disputed that I ever purchased those tires there, because it was a Bridgestone. I explained I have only purchased tires there for any of my vehicles, this was the only set put on this jeep. He explained the previous manager was doing things that he shouldn't have been doing and produced a work order showing I declined Cooper tires in January of 22, but no record of my purchase of the Bridgestone tires in March of 22. I was able to go in my glovebox and produce my receipt for my Bridgestone tires from this location. He said he couldn't do anything for a warranty until Monday. I followed up with him the following Monday and then on Wednesday, he had not had a chance to do anything on this yet. On Friday I called the "Customer Care" department at Monroe Tire. I explained the situation and was told if I hadn't heard anything back in 24 hours to call them back. Nothing. I called back this number on Wednesday the 25th, and was told I could leave a message, and they would call me back, no call back. On Thursday 9/26, I was going to be driving for some time and figured I could stay on hold for a bit. The call lasted 1.5 hours, with me on hold probably 1.25 of that time. First, I spoke with Nicole and explained my situation, she called Tim at the shop, and he said he still hadn't heard back. I asked for the CEO name and mailing address so I could write a letter. She needed to speak with her supervisor as she could not give that to me. Waited on hold for Theresa another 1/2 hour, when Nicole came back on and told me Theresa was not available but would call me back. No call back. After riding around Albany on a frigid Thursday evening looking for a working air pump without any success, I noticed Mr. Tire's open sign and decided to take a chance. Lucky for me! I was driving to Boston Friday morning and my tire pressure was extremely low. The manager, Joe Perry, who was skillfully juggling incoming calls and cashing out customers, without hesitation, directed me to pull my car inside so they could service me at no charge once I shared my plight with him. Good customer service is underrated and at times feels like a thing of the past. It's refreshing to know there are still people in business who understand its importance. This place is overpriced when it comes to Labor. He also ripped my prior inspection off and the windshield failing my inspection. Stopped by with a flat tire 90 minutes before they closed because I get all my tires here. They took me because they knew I had a 45 minute commute and a donut would never last. Not only did they let me know I had road hazard protection on the tire so the repair would cost nothing, Joe the manager walked me to the auto parts store next door to buy a sensor because the one in my tire was broken, and it would cost $40 more at Mr. Tire. Have never had a bad experience at this place!! ETA: ok so I wanted to write ANOTHER great review for these guys, because I just had an issue with a cross threaded lug nut, and without even asking they told me they would take care of any costs, plus take care of me if I need new tires. Worst customer service ever. Schedule an appointment online and received a confirmation email for my appointment. Showed up at the store and was asked how I could be helped. Told the gentleman behind the counter that I had an appointment for a oil change. He asked me had I called and made the appointment. I told him no I did it on the website and received a confirmation email. He told me, that I should've called to confirm. Why would I call to confirm a confirmation email? Anyway. Was told they were too busy and he couldn't honor the online appointment today and scheduled me for the next day at noon. I brought my car in for a basic inspection. I was told I needed 2 new tires and to get my windshield repaired so the inspection failed. I then left and took the vehicle elsewhere to have the work done. When I returned to Mr. Tire they went though a whole new inspection and then said they found the control arm was damaged. They failed my inspection again! I told them I was going elsewhere and I refused to get the repairs done there.I left and took it to another repair shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with the control arm. Great experience with getting new tires. My family and I were up in Albany visiting for the weekend when we discovered our XC90 had a flat. 20 inch tires for this vehicle are not usually in stock in the store and are kept offsite. After calling around and being told I'd have to wait a few days to come in, I contacted Mr Tire and they told me they would have it for me the very next morning. Stopped in the location and they discovered that there's a rebate on the tire from the manufacturer. Great news! Fast, courteous and through. read more

I came into this location for new tires and an alignment. The tires were pretty fairly priced and the manager joe was very helpful and positive. I left the place satisfied but on the drive home I felt my car driving very wobbly and despite having an alignment was still pulling to the right. I figured it might just need a few days of driving or whatever so I ignored it until my boyfriend was changing the brakes on my car about 5 days later. He noticed that the tires were not balanced correctly, there were tire weights placed randomly throughout the rim that didn't make any sense. I took my car to a local garage and they balanced the tires correctly. The alignment however is still off and pulling to the right quite a bit. I'll probably have to get it realigned somewhere else. As I said I left the building satisfied but upon a further look at their work I was pretty disappointed, I will probably not be returning to this location. read more

Had snow tires that I already had mounted and balanced on rims from Tire Rack installed by this location November of 2019. After over 2 hours of waiting and listening to one of the employees bad mouth every customer he put on hold that called I wasn't only charged for the install of the tires but also another unnecessary balancing. After this bad experience I went somewhere else for my oil change and was told whoever changed my oil last (Mr. Tire) threw out/didn't replace the internal parts of my oil filter cover which causes leaking and/or poor oil pressure which ultimately could have destroyed my car. I'm now, lucky but still inconvenienced, without a car for a few days until the parts that had to be ordered come in. read more

We contacted this business about purchasing trailer tires for a camper that we were transporting from Albany to Miami, Florida. We buy tires and have them installed on a weekly basis all over the United States. Rarely is there an issue. When we arrived they seemed overwhelmed and the employee stated that he wasn't comfortable putting tires on a trailer. The manager stated that he couldn't make the employee perform the task. To make a long story short my husband jacked the trailer up, took the old tires off the trailer and put the new ones on with zero assistance from the store employee They offered a tremendous discount of $19 stating that they mounted the tires and all that my husband did was put them on the trailer. This is a great example of poor customer service and poor management. I have been a manager and in my experience if the employee is inept or too lazy to perform the task the manager steps up and takes care of the customer. read more

If your looking for good customer service, don't go here. I brought my car in for inspection beginning of October, 2017. They said the rear breaks were down to metal on one side as they tried to up sell me the job for $327.00, which they should. I'm avid at turning a wrench so l did it myself and this is when l realized they were not honest with me. They were low on one side, but with no pad plate to rotor contact. When l brought the car back for re-inspection (within 30 days) for the rear brakes, they said l needed a new wiper blade, which was an outright lie. Also, NYS DMV laws are clearly written on there website, a re-inspection within 30 days does not warrant a full inspection, just a re-inspection of the item or items that failed. When l said no thanks to the wiper blade, he refused to re-inspect the car, flat out. I couldn't believe what l was hearing. He was extremely rude and unprofessional, raising his voice and pointing his finger at me at the same time. Do some homework before you buy here, they have an awful rating and reputation on Consumer Affairs and if l followed my own advice this time, l would have never been there in the first place. Also remember, you won't find any bad ratings on their websites, since there removed before they even appear. read more
