Oil change cost was outrageous. Had them do inspection. Failed on three counts. Legitimate. Came back a week later with all three remedied. They would not give me a sticker unless I gave them a paper they gave me a week ago that listed deficiencies. The page they gave me was a copy. They had the original. I did not have mine. They said they would give me a sticker if I gave them another inspection fee. Went home, found the paper, brought it back the next day. I sat in the waiting room for almost two hours, watching vehicles that arrived after me being taken care of. Mechanics eating lunch for 20 minutes while I am waiting. It would take 60 seconds to see that there are new tires and new blades. They pull the car in. They stand around for 20 minutes doing what appears to be nothing. Two hours. Unhappy. read more

Have been here before with good results. Today way different. Manager was on break sitting watching tv. Son asked when back. Not sure when I started. Hmmmm Asked for oil change. Took my car into bay. I went waiting room. Car done. How much before my coupon over $100 the $93 after coupon. For an oil change?! Looked at receipt. Gave me the synthetic oil but didn't ask me if that's what I wanted. Also vacuum "declined" window wash "declined" like I was ever asked. Very bad business practice. I've read other reviews however more negative than positive. Last time for me. In October I brought my car to Jiffy in Portland ME because I had a tire that was going flat. They told me it couldn't be fixed and that I should get all new tires because they wouldn't pass inspection. I was surprised because they were 60K tires and only had 40K miles on them, but I agreed anyway. Two months later, I got a nail in one of the new tires, so I brought it back. Again, I was told that it couldn't be repaired and that I would need a new tire. It was then I realized that they were not in the tire repair business, only in tire sales. I told them I would not give them another dime so I took it to a reputable tire company who repaired it perfectly for $25. In addition, the people I dealt with were all rude and they don't even provide a restroom for their customers. Save your money and go elsewhere!! read more

I did not have a good experience with this Jiffy Lube. To pass inspection, I had to change my tires, and the tires I got from my friend's Dad had rusty rims. Jiffy Lube put them on, passed my car for inspection, and later that night, one of my tires flew off while I was driving. When I called Jiffy Lube to inform them of this incident, they did not apologize, ask me if I was okay, and instead were rude and tried to completely place all blame on me. They claimed they told me it would be unsafe to put on rusty rims; however, I'm unsure why they would put them on or pass my car for inspection if it was in-fact, so unsafe. My car ended up with at least a couple thousand dollars worth of damage, with the manager trying to tell me at first that there was less than $500 worth of damages and that essentially, it would be silly for me to go through insurance. While he did try to work out an agreement with me to take some ownership, in my opinion, the offers that were made were not fair based on what happened. I am very disappointed with my experience here, will not be coming back, and would not recommend this business to others. Finally, be careful when you're signing a receipt and maybe ask to read everything before signing, as they will not be transparent about what they're putting on there in order to try and prevent their shop from being held liable at all. read more

A hundred bucks for an oil change. Of course, you're a captive audience when your car is in the bay. Yes, it's synthetic oil and filter, but the parts for that are under $50 retail. I can't say enough good things about the people at Jiffy Lube on Riverside Street in Portland, ME. Best customer service I have ever had from a mechanic, every time I go. I've been to a lot of different car repair shops over the years, and especially as someone in a female body, I'm used to pretty crap service, upselling, being talked down to -- all of it -- but you won't find that here. HORRIBLE! I have literally tried five times in the last two weeks to show up and get a state inspection, which they claim they provide. Trust me, they don't! Every. Single. Time. There is an issue... This last time today, I showed up at 1 PM and they said their inspector was out on break and you come back in an hour. I waited around for an entire hour, went back in at 2, The inspector is there and tells me he's about to go on break and come back in an hour. What the hell? These guys went out of there way to help me out. Got a flat tire on Saturday night. The only tire places open told me they were booked. Jiffy Lube does tires with no appointment! Manager didn't know if he could get a tire for my hybrid since his fire supplier was closed. But he called me back in exactly the amount of time he said it would take and he had found one! But he didn't like the price since it was a really expensive tire. He then called around until found a cheaper tire. He even drove to pick it up himself! When I got there they put the tire on with no wait. Everyone was super nice. In the end the tire cost less than I paid for the original and we were on our way in no time. I wasn't sure I was going to make it home, but Jiffy Lube came to the rescue! read more

They told me they could rotate my tires, then severely scratched the hub cap when the tire wrench slipped off the bolt. The damage was enough to require replacement. I actually heard the bang and saw the serviceman's face when it happened from the glass window of the waiting area. Apparently they were using a spare wrench rather than an impact wrench. Instead of just telling me what they did the manager said the bolts were on too tightly preventing them from finishing, and asked me to go somewhere else. I didn't connect what I had saw until the next serviceman pointed out the damage. This place use to be the best a few years ago with a great crew. Wow. I'm writing this review after staring at my jeep through the back window of this Jiffy Lube for the last half hour. Because of the glass window which allows you to watch tue technicians as they work, I was able to watch the process, it took about 15 minutes to change the battery. It took an additional 20 minutes for them to dick around, laugh and play around with each other. But now I have been sitting here for an additional 30 minutes while my jeep is parked behind the building. I've asked to pay multiple times and they keep saying I have to wait longer. After waiting in line behind 3 other vehicles for a half hour they abruptly closed the bay I was waiting at and told me I had to go to the end of another line. They actually closed 2 out of 3 bags this way at the same time with no explanation or apology to customers that were patiently waiting. I've been a long time customer of this Jiffy Lube and have always appreciated the customer service and attention to detail shown me and my automobiles. Unfortunately, that changed when the store manager left to manage another store in MA. In the months since, there has been a mass exodus of the knowledgeable and courteous staff that I was accustomed to. The replacements have a lot to learn about basic car repair, maintenance and good customer service. Now, you walk in and immediately feel it's going to cost you a whole lot more than you thought for repairs or services you may or may not need. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. I went for an inspection sticker so I can get some work done to my car, they completely ruined my ability to put my car in park. If I put it in park then tried to move it at all it just won't budge. Also my check engine light wasn't on before I gave them my car. Yeah that light is now on. I wouldn't trust these slime balls to repair a tricycle. When they didn't have a filter to fit my husbands vehicle, they decided instead to cut out pieces of one they did have and use it instead. When it was brought to their attention, their manager was incredibly rude and insisted that they would "never do this." After running around trying to find a place to get my inspection done that wasn't "right out straight" (Mainer slang for very, very busy) I get recommended to this Jiffy Lube location on Riverside street in Portland. Matt behind the counter impressed the hell out of me with his customer service and competency. Apparently they've had some issues with their former management that they are hustling hard to rectify with a crew he stands behind. I had a lot of work to do but they were willing to work with me at a fair discount and 'turn loose' their fastest tire guy on the job (his name's Josh and stuck me as a great guy). It's hard to find a good shop sometimes, so landing in the right place from a personal recommendation is a treat especially when you've let things go for too long. I had stopped here for a synthetic oil change and filter change, which I believed had been completed and for which I was charged. A week later I visited my car dealer service dept for a separate issue, upon doing a multi point inspection I was informed that I was a quart of oil low with no leaks and this location had not used an O-ring/adapter seal. I was there today for 1 hour and got 4 new tires wiper blades and my oil changed. Fairly typical oil change shop. If you choose the right time to go the service will be quick and courteous. If they are stacked up it takes an eternity and the employees are increasingly harried and more apt to be rude. Stick with the basic oil change, bring the $5 coupon that is on the Jiffy site, and it's about $30. read more

While in a hurry with travel plans I stopped in to Jiffy Lube on Riverside street in Portland yesterday. After waiting an hour and ten minutes I got my oil changed and the cabin filter replaced. My boyfriend is a mechanic and was upset they charged me $50.00 for a simple cabin filter replacement. He decided to inspect it and make sure they actually changed the filter. Upon inspection he found the filter was changed but it was crammed in there incorrectly and they never even put the cover back on over it, they just left the cover laying in my glove box. Never will I visit a Jiffy Lube again. read more

Took car in for oil change and inspection. Was told I need new inner front tie-rod to pass. Quoted me $72 and I said yes. On the way home I noticed a noise. Needed a front end alignment since having the tie-rod replaced. Took to another place and this is what I was told. "Tire was not correctly installed, no locktite, inner tie-rod fell out of P/S rack during alignment." I was also told this could have led to an accident or worse. Maybe Jiffy Lube should stick with oil changes only. I will not be back. read more
