My car started acting up this morning on my way to work. It was 8AM. I went right to Midas. They took it in, diagnosed it, gave me a quote and went right to work. 3 hours later it was fixed and for $1000 less than they quoted. RUN....This place is a joke. In my opinion They take advantage of old people who don't know about cars their mechanics will go over your car with a fine tooth comb just to find something so they can make some money. If you expect a sticker, forget it. we're talking pull out the tire depth checker and air pressure on a tire.. it's crazy how bad they are. The service desk will argue with you when you explain that you're upset that they failed you because they're being a little too over the top. It's definitely not in your interest to go to these people for stickers run from this location. They will definitely take your money....very unsatisfied Customer I will never return. I was in need of brakes, so I started calling around for info and estimates; two shops had me two weeks out, minimum. Fortunately, I also checked with Midas of Westbrook and specificall, with the owner, Mark, and his outstanding GM, Bob. They did their inspection, and Bob said that I did indeed need brakes, but after his personal inspection, he told me I would not to to replace the calipers...wicked nice move! Plus, he could get me in today,6/27, and I'm already settled back in at home with a fine set of dependable brakes; I couldn't be more pleased with the service, and the price, and I won't hesitate to give the team at Midas of Westbrook my highest recommendation. Had my daughters vw beetle serviced there. Went in for brakes and rotors. Fast easy and customer service was excellent.

I came there and they tried to charge me 1500 for a new alternator which is such a rip off. I called another place for a second opinion and they were going to charge me 900 for it and I called Midas back and told them as such and they would price match and charged me 1000 which is not a price match but is better than original price. And I found a coupon on their website and they wouldn't let me use it. Horrible customer experience wouldn't recommend. read more

I had a bit of an emergency fix needed when my mechanic was closed. My exhaust system gave up on my twelve year old car and I have a big trip next week. I called around and Midas was able to get me in same day. Now normally, in skeptical when I go to a franchise and they tell me all the work that needs done but the first thing they pointed out was something I had asked my normal garage for several times and was told it was fine. All in all, they did a ton of work on my car for a fair price, got me in very quickly with a very quick turn around time. I also found them to be very responsive and realistic with their communication. I can understand where some folks may have had bad experiences, but I'm this urgent situation, they definitely earned all 5 stars from me. read more

My car's breaks were acting funny in Westbrook and I noticed Midas. I pulled in to see if I could schedule an appointment. Bobby the service manager greeted me and when I asked about scheduling an appointment he told me I could get in now if I had the time. The owner Mark came out and talked to me about what was wrong with the car and the price was much cheaper than other places that I have brought my car to for brakes. I am very happy and impressed with Midas. They were quick and not only efficient but super friendly. I will be going back to Midas for all of my car needs. I went to Midas after speaking to a nice gentleman on the phone who told me he could cheaply repair the exhaust on my 99 Honda CRV. After dropping it off, they took a look and told me it'd be quite a bit to fully repair. After telling them I really just wanted a quick fix and wasn't looking to keep the car for much longer than a year, they offered me a cheaper solution to get the job done which is exactly what I needed. I brought my car in for a state inspection. They informed me that because there was rust on my brake rotors, all four would have to be replaced, along with the pads, for a total cost of just under $900. I was a bit surprised, given the car had just been to a dealer for routine service not that long ago with no mention of any problems. So I declined the work. I took the car to a different shop. Was promptly provided with a passing inspection, not so much even a mention of a potential problem with the brakes. Is there room for interpretation as to what passes for brake condition and need for replacement? Perhaps, but it sure seems fishy to me, especially since I went from all four wheels to zero wheels needing attention. I won't be returning. read more

Update: This company wanted me to pay $1100 for a part that it would take them 3 weeks to get. I left without having the work done, and took my car to AAA. 90 minutes later my car was as good as new. Total cost, $75. Unbelievable. These people are crooks. read more

I am not a person to complain about things but my experience today with them was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. My car inspection sticker was expired and I made appointment online. I received an email that said someone would contact me the next business day. Unfortunately no one contacted me. I thought perhaps i wrote my phone number wrong but i checked and it wasn't wrong. Anyway, I went 2 days later in person and told them I needed a state inspection sticker. The gentilmen was very friendly; he got my phone number and told me he would give me a call. After 25 minutes he called and told me I needed a new front passenger side tire and something was leaking. I was so busy I couldn't hear him very well, but I asked how much would it cost totally. He said $500 something. I said ok fix it and I will come and pick up my car at 5pm. When I went to pick up my car, a technician greeted me. I told him I was there to pick up may car. he just told me how much I need to pay, I paid, and he told me that you are all set. He didn't explain what they did. They didn't give me my old tire. They didn't show me the parts they replaced. I checked the invoice and it said; exhaust pipe, flange gasket and 1 tire cost $554 which i found a little pricy. I went outside to find my car. Inside I found the old sticker in pieces in my car. There was a dirty shoe print on my rug and also they had forgotten tools in the car. But there is no car key! I grabbed the tool to give back them and also I asked for my car key. He seemed tipsy. He struggled to find my key. I saw technicians having a drink. I left from there paying $554.00 but with suspicious feelings. Did those drunk guys really fix my car or did they make a bigger mess?or did my car really need a new part. The last think I have to say is that when I had brought my car to them, my "check engine" light was on and when I left it was still on without explanation. no one was rude, but I feel robbed.
