I recently took two pairs of shoes in for polishing and to have heel taps added, and I was quoted a price of $65. This feels quite high, especially considering that I've never paid more than $25 for a shoe shine, even at airports where the service is typically manual. It's surprising for a locally-owned business to have such elevated prices, which makes me think I might have to drive to downtown Harrisburg for a more reasonable option. The showing was good. WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS--WARNING! I went to Jiffy Shoe to get the insoles glued back into a pair of Sperry sneakers--super simple request. Jessica charged me $30 (way to much to glue down insoles, but I paid because they are my favorite sneakers). I SPECIFICALLY said DO NOT clean them because the leather has a special coating. I showed her the coating and mentioned how it was why I loved this pair of sneakers so much). Jessica said she would call me the next day so I could pick them up (I explained they were my favorite). SHE NEVER CALLED! For THREE weeks I made MUITIPLE attempts to get my sneakers back. I went to the shop six times and all six times it was closed. I called the shop and always got a busy signal or no answer. I left messages on her mobile number, too. After three weeks Jessica said she finally located my sneakers and that I had to schedule a time to pick them up. When i picked up my sneakers they looked worse than they did when i dropped them off! I noticed the leather looked dull. I was so angry that I had to hunt her down to get my property back, I felt it was better if I didn't speak. I just wanted my sneakers. To make this situation worse, only one of the insoles was glued down. She took the unfinished sneaker in the back and dissappeared for 15 minutes. She came out from the back and said, "the glue is still wet, be careful." I drove home with the smell of the glue overpowering me (had to open my windows because the smell was so bad). I actually felt lightheaded. As soon as i got home I contacted Jessica about the damage to my sneakers along with pictures of the damage. She stated that she wouldn't send shoes home that looked like that. SHE HAD MY SNEAKERS FOR THREE WEEKS, TOLD ME SHE COULDNT FIND THEM, BLAMED HER 'HELPER' FOR MISPLACING THEM, BLAMED HER HELPER FOR NOT CALLING ME, THEN BLAMED ME FOR THE NEW DAMAGE. To make this horrible situation worse, the insoles are glued in crooked (like Jessica), the right heel is smashed in, and the rose gold accents have been buffed off!!! I paid $30, did not get the service I requested, my sneakers are ruined, and Jessica basically said I ruined my own sneakers on the drive home. Horrible experience. Quality of Jessica's work is horrible. Horrible value--I prepaid Jessica $30 for her to RUIN my sneakers and then get blamed for the damage. I am not a person to leave negative reviews but I felt it was necessary to do so in this case. I do not want anybody else to pay to have their favorite shoes ruined. Jessica provided the service requested for the 2 pair of shoes I dropped off for repair. I will say that it did take a little longer than I expected. I am very happy with the work that was done. The only Beware I have is it may take a little longer than expected but Jessica will get back to you. The work done was quality work. read more

My husband and I have used Jiffy Shoe Cobbler for 20 plus years. While still working, I would take my high heeled shoes in for repair as needed throughout the year. Great job and always polished my shoes too! Since retirement I take my winter shoes and boots in each fall for a deep clean and polish and heel repair as needed. And within a few days, they are ready for pick up. Work and prices are both great! I hope this man never retires! read more

I called in to the store to ask if it would be possible to alter a pair of boots before an event that I had the next day. He asked me to bring them by for him to see. I dropped my shoes off, he gave me a quote of $40. He called me about an hour later and had them finished. They looked great! I was so happy with how fast he had them done. I will be back. I took a leather bag here because the strap was coming off the side due to having too much weight all the time. He quoted me a higher price than I intended to spend but he ended up reinforcing the whole bag for me, with quite good workmanship and it was done in a little less than a week. I have take a few of my shoes there for some minor repairs. Although the quality of work was acceptable, somehow every time I was leaving the place feeling cheated out of my money. The guy does not have a price list that you can see before you agree to leave your shoes for service. His pricing model seems to be based on 2 factors - how nice are your shoes and how well you are dressed when you a dropping them off. Really! I had 3 different prices for the same type of work - $20, $30, and $40. Every time it was exactly the same heel replacement but for different pairs of dress shoes. On top of it, he never tells you when the shoes will be done. "I'll call you" is his standard answer. Sometimes he calls in 2 days, sometimes in 2 weeks. I have never used a cobbler before and it finally came time to take in the first pair of dress shoes I ever bought. I didn't even recognize them when I picked them up! They looked just as good as the day I bought them. this is very nonfactual he does not care what you look like he just cares that your happy by the finished product. I don't believe he made the price as high as $40 but most things at the shop cost somewhere around $20. it takes time because he has a lot of work two do and only me and his daughter to help him. but you got to admit the finished product is so good that they look better than brand new. read more

I dropped a leather backpack off for repair. Torn because of weight on the backpack, straps needed shortened and additional holes needed to be made in the leather. A woman checked me in quoted a $45 to $50 repair, I asked her why so much, she said it was $20.00 just to shorten the straps. We agreed the straps would not be shortened she would put three holes in each side and repair the bag for $30.00. She wanted to be paid up front. I said I would pay half, she took my $20.00 said she had no change. When I came back in to pick up the bag, the same woman said she had to pay someone else to fix it because she could not and he charged her $40.00. I placed a $10 on the counter she snapped it up. She brought the bag out and had not punched the holes in the straps as agreed. I asked her who did the repair since she could not, she said it was a friend. I said your friend forgot to put the holes in the straps. She went on about how I was undercharged and she didn't have to do anything.
