Sweet Shoppe with sweet flowers welcoming visitors.

Found this hidden gem on a nostalgic walk through an old family neighborhood. Glad we stopped in but wish it had been earlier in the week. Shop opens Thursdays with the refresh home-baked goodies and ends the week Sundays with specials. We got there in time for the specials, some of which were delicious in deed! Lots of baked items from which to choose from cookies to muffins to cakes & pies, & cinnamon buns. (The cinnamon buns were a real steal at just a dollar. Unfortunately, they were a day or two old and while they looked delicious and tasted delicious, they were very very dry. Short pop in the microwave and almost as good as new.) 3.5-4 if fresher - need to return when they are fresh out of the oven. Also picked up some homemade fudge on this trip. Brought back a lot of memories growing up in this neck of the woods. The peanut butter was mildly flavored and creamy. The chocolate was a little bit grainy but just as I remember from my boyhood. We definitely will stop back again... As I said, earlier in the week... Because the freshness it's going to count for these items. But even at that they are too old they looked spectacular and the flavors were pretty darn good too. Note: Their sign indicates handmade chocolates but I did not see any on sale other than the fudge and I neglected to ask.

Oreo cake and a happy birthday girl!

Then I found Turkey Hill Ice cream Experience only 30min away from Lancaster, and decided to visit. We bought the double scoop experience (comes with ice cream test lab) and obviously that was the highlight of the place! The test lab is about 45min experience and the whole thing with self-guided tour takes about 1hr 30min to 2 hours depending how crowded it is. The visit was fun and of course my 5-year-old daughter had a great time eating tons of ice cream!

Admission prices are reasonable, and who doesnt love unlimited samples of iced tea, and lemonade, icecream on a hot day. Vistors have a choice between one scoop, two scoop, or three scoop attraction. I choose one scoop; hilights of my visit- learning history of Turkey Hill, process of icecream being made, creating a virtual icecream flavor, watching the production , live from interactive camera in one of the exhibits. Be sure to take the few moments, to watch the introduction video. My favorite ice cream sample flavors were Graham Slam & Blueberry Lemon Pound Cake. An attraction must, well visiting Lancaster, PA. My recommendation would be too sell a few more flavors that you offer , with unlimited tastings. My favorite was orange icedtea.

Walking in to the right is their store. The store has sweets, novelty items, ceramics and great gift sets. To the left is the bar and restaurant which has that beautiful view! The service despite how busy they were was very attentive. My friend ordered a corned beef and sauerkraut grilled sandwich with a crab soup and I got a duck burger with fries. The burger tasted like grounded up duck meat and breading. It had some kind of Asian flavored slaw that had way too much salt so I removed it and enjoyed the burger with just the lettuce. The fries has texture and flavor of re-refried fries. My friend said her soup was good but she would not get it there again. It was too watery for her liking. Her grilled sandwich was very good. Though the food wasn't the best we did enjoy each others company and made a great memory!

We had a tough time finding a Macaron we liked and ventured to The Golden Whisk after trying 4 previous bakeries and were pleasantly surprised. The baker explained they make their Macarons with White Chocolate Ganache, but they would make a few samples with other filling if I could come back next week (I, the bride do not like chocolate). So we left this day with bellies full of other sweets (highly recommend the lemon bar and a Chai Tea Latte) and waited a week to return. We came back the following Saturday to pick-up a sample, to our surprise there was not one but multiple samples with non-chocolate ganache filling (amazing) AND the baker hand wrote on each to make sure we knew what we were trying. We were very happy with the the samples and moved forward with ordering a Macaron Tower for our Wedding with the Chai (cream colored) and Cookies & Cream flavors (black & white colored).... TO DIE FOR, these flavors were BETTER than the samples and we didn't event try either of these flavors previously! We highly recommend The Golden Whisk for your next event or just stop by to grab yourself a drink and a pastry (we are from southern York it's work the drive).

The setting is absolutely beautiful. Their outdoor terrace overlooks a scenic garden area that looks like it might even host weddings--it's that picturesque. The ambiance is peaceful, charming, and ideal for a relaxing weekend meal, whether you've just finished a bike ride or are simply looking for a quiet dining spot in Marietta. The menu had a lot of fresh, well-crafted options, and the cocktail list was fun and inventive. I tried the lavender lemon drop, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the lavender complemented the classic citrusy flavor--an elegant twist on a traditional drink. For dinner, I went with the jalapeño cheddar burger, which was flavorful, juicy, and made with noticeably fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp and satisfying, while my mom and sister-in-law each opted for different sandwiches paired with house salads. They raved about the house-made vinaigrette, which had a fresh, tangy balance. We also started with the whipped feta dip and gouda mac and cheese--both were delicious. The feta was creamy and flavorful, and the mac had a rich, smoky bite to it. Our Entrees looked so delicious that I forgot to snap a photo beforehand. Service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus, and her suggestions were spot on. In terms of value, I was really impressed. With so many places these days serving tiny portions at high prices, Railroad House Inn stands out as a restaurant that delivers quality, fresh ingredients, and generous portions at a fair price. All in all, this was a five-star experience. Great food, beautiful location, warm service--I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially after enjoying the nearby Northwest Lancaster County River Trail.
