After a wonderful afternoon biking with my mom and sister-in-law--using rentals from Lancaster Recumbent just down the road--we made our way to The Railroad House Inn for an early dinner, and it was the perfect way to end the day. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Their outdoor terrace overlooks a scenic garden area that looks like it might even host weddings--it's that picturesque. The ambiance is peaceful, charming, and ideal for a relaxing weekend meal, whether you've just finished a bike ride or are simply looking for a quiet dining spot in Marietta. The menu had a lot of fresh, well-crafted options, and the cocktail list was fun and inventive. I tried the lavender lemon drop, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the lavender complemented the classic citrusy flavor--an elegant twist on a traditional drink. For dinner, I went with the jalapeño cheddar burger, which was flavorful, juicy, and made with noticeably fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp and satisfying, while my mom and sister-in-law each opted for different sandwiches paired with house salads. They raved about the house-made vinaigrette, which had a fresh, tangy balance. We also started with the whipped feta dip and gouda mac and cheese--both were delicious. My wife and I had an awesome evening at the Railroad House tonight. It is one of our favorite places for a nice dinner. We were lucky enough to have Bradley as our server and what a wonderful experience he gave us. Our food and drinks were amazing as always. I was a little disappointed that most of the staff were dressed very casually. I wasn't sure who was working and who was a customer. But Bradley was dressed sharply in all black. No doubt he was a waiter. It didn't used to be this way. It is such a nice place and I feel like the staff's appearance should represent the quality of the restaurant. read more

However, if you are considering this they do have 3 venue spots at their restaurant and are definitely worth checking out! This restaurant has a timeless look with the all wood interior. We love the RR House...only reason for four this time is that our server needs more training, specifically knowledge of drinks and menu. I would basically give this place a 3.5 because the ambiance was nice and the serving people were pleasant but you go there to eat and although the food tasted good, something between the chef and the service went wrong. I ordered the surf and turf and the asparagus and the shrimp were cold, some of the potatoes were slightly warm and my "medium rare" steak - which was definitely on the medium side - was just room temp. I didn't send it back since then I would probably get a well done steak and overcooked shrimp and at that point it still tasted good, only like it had sat in a drafty corner of the kitchen for a while. Most everything else was fine. We were on time for our reservation but waited at the desk for a while to be seated. There wasn't anyone else waiting but when the guy got there he asked about reservations and when I said my first name he asked for my last name as well, as if there were many people in the book with my first name at that time. Kinda weird. They could have been short handed but as this was my first time there, I had no idea if it was normal. This was a spur of the moment decision to eat here. The staff was very friendly and we were seated within a few minutes. We started off with (not pictured) bacon wrapped scallops over sweet potato hash. They were delicious. I could have eaten all 3 myself, and we shared the Pork Belly Sliders. My husband didn't care for the sliders with the mustard and pickles but my mom and I really enjoyed them! For entrees we chose Short Ribs, delicious had a very strong red wine sauce that my husband wasn't a fan of, the baked meatloaf that was delicious, and the special of the day the Halibut, amazing! We ended the night with the crème brûlée, very good, hard crispy top, and fried cheesecake, we thought the cheesecake was a little too sweet. We went to celebrate a birthday. This was our first time at this place and it did not disappoint. Per the website, we knew it was half off Wine Wednesday. They had a lot of fun cocktails and a great beer and wine list. We did not order appetizers but we ordered the flatiron and the wild truffle stroganoff with scallops. The steak was cooked perfectly and enjoyed the generous portion of potatoes and asparagus. The stroganoff was huge and the scallops were to die for! Definitely would recommend both dishes. We got the cake (and added ice cream) for dessert. It was just ok... probably would not get again. This little out-of-the-way restaurant is a true gem. Went here for brunch on a gray Spring morning and had the best time and amazing food. Our party of 4 was seated at a funky steampunky booth with a lovely view of their outdoor seating area. (I can't wait to return with nicer weather to sit out there!) I had the Bloody Mary Burger after trying to decide among 5 or 6 menu items that all sounded fantastic. When our charming server (Bradley?) asked how I'd like it cooked I gave my standard answer of "as rare as you can legally serve it to me" because I know most establishments are weird about rare ground beef. This burger came out PERFECTLY with the exact amount of juicy pinkness that I love. It had celery leaves, a blue cheese cream sauce that was sloppy and delicious and I licked every bit off my fingers. I had the opportunity to taste the breakfast risotto and it was delectable. Two other table mates had the steak and eggs and it too was an enviable dish. I do not know what kind of coffee they are serving, but it was delicious. What a cute little place! We found this place as we were in the area for a wedding looking for the perfect place to sober up the morning after. The mimosas were great and the food was delicious! Railroad in is an appropriate name as it's so close to a train track you could hear the train every time one rolled by. We sat out in the back courtyard and it was freaking adorable. I had the Gouda Mac and cheese and a breakfast melt both delicious both I want more of! I would love to see what the rooms are like but overall such a cute place and great staff. read more

Steak and Eggs and lightly dressed greens were a good choice for me. If I could have found more room in my stomach, I would have eaten every bite. The steak was juicy, well seasoned, and tender. The eggs were properly cooked and service was prompt so they were still perfect when they got to the table. Weddings are one of the most special days of many people's lives, and my wife and I are very thankful for the excellent venue and services provided by the Railroad House Inn for our micro wedding. Joey (the owner) went above and beyond helping us plan the transition from ceremony to reception in the beautifully renovated carriage house. He was very accessible and always replied in a timely manner to any questions that we had. We were also able to use the patio area outside including the propane heaters and fire pits, which was awesome. Sean was our bartender and server for the occasion and he did a fantastic job. In fact, everybody involved in the service of our wedding was excellent. As usual for the Railroad House Inn, the food was delicious, from the appetizers to the entrees. My nephew took a particular liking to the skewered beef appetizers and decided to hoard a bunch of them for himself. Another nice thing about our experience was the ability to rent all (seven) of the rooms at the inn, so family and friends were able to stay the night to extend the fun (and safety). We are very happy with our decision to get hitched at the Railroad House Inn, and highly recommend trusting them for your special day. Wonderful beer selection!! Got us started the right way. For appetizers, we had Bulgogi wraps and it was delicious. Mains include Railroad Burger, the fries are delightfully light and crunchy. Wow. What a gem in just a short drive away. Great space. Nice menu. Good service. We had a few cocktails, a few small plates and some entrees. They had QR code's or paper menus. The craft cocktails were a great way to start the meal. The bacon wrapped scallop small plate was tasty, as was the gnudi! The risotto was fantastic, the salmon was cooked to perfection as was the flank steak. The shrimp were huge and the sauces were on point. The highlight may have been what was not on the menu .... The desserts! The cheesecake chimichanga and chocolate lava cake were a fantastic way to end the evening. The ambiance was wonderful. The conversation delightful. The dish is really just a mound of pulled pork, which I found uninteresting, imbalanced, and only mediocre in execution. The corn bread they served was dry and didn't communicate much flavor. I ordered a side of truffle fries. The fries were well executed in crisp and interior. However, they didn't carry much truffle or parmesan flavor as their title suggested. My meal took very long to come out and I felt the menu items were priced on the slightly high side for what was being offered. read more

Me & my wife's second experience at this establishment was our last based on Service, Food Quality, & a Fly that had continously invaded our table throughout our dining experience. I briefly spoke with the owner about our waiter Carl who after I gave my opinion regarding a minimal tip responsed in an unprofessional manner by explaining I was being "Picky", now I expect this kind of response from a fastfood restaurant but not an UPSCALE restaurant. Now listen folks if your having dinner at an upscale restaurant you expect the best so Carl's response was unacceptable. Any professional waiter would agree that our potato was unacceptable along with a folk encrusted with food particles added to the fury of an already escalating complaint. Our waiter who showed ZERO concern about the seriousness of our complaints including the owner. We had no complaints on our NY Strip Steak laced with fresh asparagus followed by dessert. To offer no apologies by the owner nor by the waiter was more than confirmation for us not to patronize this establishment anymore. If your looking for the Best of upscale dining experience I highly recommend The Left Bank in downtown York as you'll get the full experience of what a TRUE UPSCALE restaurant experience really is with competitive prices. Our Bill was $109 for 2 NY Strip Steak dinners with a Glass of Cabernet Sauvignon followed by two Desserts. I didn't complain for a discount as most cheap asses do but I was merely concerned about not only our experience but yours as well. Unfortunately we had to wait 15 minutes before someone came to our table for a drink order, got our drinks 15 minutes later and had to send one back because it lacked flavor. The wine I received tasted like a local Pa wine versus a California wine that I ordered. Service was very slow overall. We all got salads and the kale salad was really tough ( should be massaging the kale before serving) . The Cesar salad looked good and it was served with shrimp which were a great size. Tonight my wife and I had the pleasure of experiencing The Railroad House Inn for the first time in celebration of our third wedding anniversary. I called them around 5 requesting 6/6:30 reservations on a Wednesday night and had no trouble making the accommodations. I explained to them it was a special occasion and they went the extra mile to provide a dining experience with a little more romance than a typical evening. Things like this really make for positive memories and repeat business from us. Finding the entrance sort of threw us off but a gentleman outside pointed us to the correct door (pro tip: it's on the left side of the house on a door with a small brass plate that says "Entrance"). Walking in the door was a dimly lit entry where we were pleasantly greeted. I gave my name and we were immediately sat at cozy booth that was comfortable and roomy for the both of us. We had a window looking to the outside dining patio which looked like it would be quite welcome on a pleasant day. As an aside, it has lovely lights arranged elegantly above the the tables providing an incredibly romantic place to relax and have a nice conversation with your company in the later hours. The ambience was perfect for a date night but casual enough to make my jeans, polo, and sneakers not feel out of place. It has a rustic industrial feel which helps it stand apart from the typical restaurant in a delightful way. Shawn was our waiter and he provided us with the perfect balance of attentiveness and solitude. Upon seating, he poured us water, took our drink orders, and returned only a few minutes later with our beverages. We enjoyed having a little conversation in finding mutual enjoyment in the selection of music being played. My wife and I ordered our meals, I the surf and turf and her the salmon, and he expertly remembered each detail of our order without the need to write anything down. While we waited, we were brought some delicious freshly baked bread with a properly portioned size of oil with some seasoning. The bread was delightful, but my wife and I agreed that the oil leaned a little too much on the oil flavor side and lacked a bit on the seasoning side. Perhaps a bit of Parmesan cheese or a touch of ground red pepper could sort it out. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but we still got our food faster than I would've expected. It was a pleasant surprise. The meals were plated elegantly and the portions seemed appropriate for the prices. My surf and turf was an 8oz flat iron steak cooked medium rare with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a jumbo lump crab cake. My wife got a nice portion of salmon with asparagus and ricotta ravioli. The salmon was quite tasty and had a nice pan seared crusting that really made it stand out. My steak was cooked as requested* and the accoutrements couldn't have been prepared any better. My wife tasted everything on my plate and had quite the bout of food envy. *I have to say that I initially believed the steak was over done and noted it to Shawn, but soon discovered I was mistaken and it was simply a little more done on the edges which makes sense. The steak was, in fact, cooked properly and tasted incredible. Unable to eat everything, Shawn supplied us with boxes to take it all home. He gave us the day's desert menu and my wife got the key lime pie which, even though it was in a to-go box, looked incredibly well plated and inviting. We haven't had a chance to eat it yet, but if it follows the rest of our time spent there, it will be delicious. My wife and I were incredibly pleased overall with every aspect of our first visit. We look forward to coming back again and hope to make this a regular spot. I would highly recommend this for nice dinners out, date nights, and drinks with friends. While they may be kid friendly, I personally get the feeling that it may be better suited to leave the littles ones at home, as we did, to be able to truly get the full experience at this unique place to dine. read more

This place was amazing! I stayed in the B&B for a few days while in the area. Service was great. My room was just right...a little train noise throughout the night but it was to be expected. Food was truly amazing! Drinks were great also. Got to visit with Nika at the bar while I ate and she was amazing. Super friendly and just a very nice person to visit with.
