Have shopped here for at least 15 years, consistent quality and service. Well laid out, recently renovated and large product selection. Like any grocery store, on rare occasions I purchased something that I needed to return, a couple times over 15 years. I noticed a few negative comments here but I haven't experienced anything that would change my mind about this store being my preferred choice. Produce is fresh, no mouldy berries, meat is displayed well and have not had any quality issues. Owners are dedicated to the store, not unusual to see Maria on cash on the weekend. read more

Been shopping here for several years, especially as it is close to my elderly parents home. They have tried to maintain a decent level of service and have made improvements in their fresh produce selection. It's just "okay" for most things and the prices are decent. The downside is they very often do not have what is advertised in the flyers and their fresh meat selection is just meh... I continue to shop there on occasion but found better options for certain items in the neighbourhood. read more

I decided to do my grocery shop here today to avoid the rising food costs. And no frills did just that! The food was affordable and they carried all the big brands that we know and love. The store was very busy but the displays were well stocked and everything was easy to find. Definitely worth driving a little further for. Prices were reasonable and many signs said that they won't raise prices like many other stores have been! Staff was friendly as well! read more

This is the No Frills that I shop at 1-2x per week. Owner Jim offered incredible customer service to me after I purchased an expired cheesecake. It was clearly a one-off situation because Jim knows the store and his products inside and out, but it is great to know that the owner is so kind and willing to rectify situations like those. this location is a lot better then most locations, boasting some very unique items that you don't find in a "normal" no frills, sometimes I go to this location just to see if they have any new or cool items. the fruit and veggies seem to be a lot fresher at this location as well, not sure if there is a reason for this. the only negative that I can find with this location is that the parking situation is sparse without a bit of walking, and everyone seems to think its like nascar, whipping in and out at very high speeds. aside from that negative, its a very good location. read more

Whatever grievance other customers may have had with service at this location, I've always found the staff very polite and helpful. Reliability of supply is a problem, though. The marketing theory seems to be that if you can't find what you came in for, you'll settle for something else. Sorry, no. Like most people, I think, I'll simply go elsewhere to get what I want. Jim and Maria's product selection is diverse and caters to most needs (when the products are there). One thing they should definitely look into is the adequacy of cleaning procedures in the bagged milk area. While the milk itself is almost always fine, the bags and the crates in which they're stuffed often smell sour. There is something about No Frills in Etobicoke that leaves me scratching my head. For a second time this week, I decided to stop into a No Frills before heading back downtown. I'd say this location is better than the Queensway location, but still worse than any of the No Frills locations I'd compare to visiting in downtown Toronto (even the Cabbagetown location is better, and it's pretty terrible). This location is at least spacious, so you won't feel as cramped when shopping as you do at other locations, and there is ample parking... But the good impressions ended there. Perhaps I've been spoiled by shopping at No Frills locations that have fresh meat counters and in house butchers, but finding a good piece of meat in this end of the city seems like way too much of a challenge. This location did have better selection than the Queensway and I found a couple things to tie me over, but still left me underwhelmed and planning for a regular shop this weekend at my local. I notice that other reviews are old. I go to this store weekly for a few reasons. One, there is always free parking in the lot at the store. Two, the outside and inside are always clean and litter free. Three, flyer specials are in stock. Four, the store is large enough to carry a wide variety of items. It's okay for a No Frills. It's what they advertise and it's reasonably close to where I work so I can drop in there before heading home but it's inconsistent. Some days things are stocked, some days they're not. Some day you go in there and the staff is helpful. Some days you go and they're not. Sometimes you get a smile. Sometimes you get a sneer. And now with the renovations they're expanding a bit and improving the produce selection which is good. But the problem is that certain things aren't being restocked on a constant basis. Take in point turkey wings. These are typically rather cheap but with a little bit of work they provide a decent amount of meat and once you're done with several packs you can render them down for soup. And for the past two weeks they've been out. Suspiciously since they've started stocking new "Butterball Wings". Perfectly fine if you happen to be looking for something seasoned, salted and chemically treated. And yet these things aren't selling. Every few days I go in and see them for 30% off as they're nearing their end of shelf life. This is a sign. Nobody is buying them. Bring back the butcher and PC ones. They sell better. read more

There are some good No Frills and there are some bad ones. This is one of the very "bad" ones! With few exceptions, its staff in no way should be employed anywhere which deals with the public. They are very rude and discourteous, and lack even the most basic of customer service skills. But that as it may be, the worst thing is that this location is known for running out of advertised products, and then putting much more expensive items in their places, yet leaving the sale price banners/tags there. One might rightfully assume from this, that the store is offering the more expensive items at the same sale price as a courtesy, but no! You will be charged the higher price. I've brought this to their attention several times, and asked why the sale banners/tags were not removed. All I got from the idiots was a shrug of their shoulders and a "that's not my job" reply. It is very important to always check the expiry dates on all items in this store. You should always do this anyways, but here it is of extra importance. You will find prices to be very reasonable(comparatively), and that is because the item is being sold at, or very close to its expiry date. It would not be uncommon to buy something only to discover later that it is a month or more past its expiry date. Parking is a bit cramped, but it's like this everywhere in Toronto now so its not exactly No Frills fault. The shopping carts however are. It is common to find the cart you pick to be squeaky, and hard to push, or with wobbly wheels, or with all 3 things combined. You can try exchanging one for another, but in my experience you will only end up with another with the exact same problems. The fruit is quite often not very good, but they do offer a fare selection and as long as you are not buying in bulk the fruit should last until you eat it. This goes back to the store saving money by purchasing food that is at, or close to its expiry date. If you want really fresh, and delicious fruit any of Sobeys locations has this store beat hands down, but the prices there are much, much higher. As far as the employees go I have never had any problems. These are people that are not making a tremendous amount of money and yet still manage to be polite, courteous and helpful. All in all you could do worse then shopping at this location...the prices are good as long as you watch the expiry date. The staff are helpful. And most of all the store is close, and convenient for me. read more

I hate to say this but this is one of the WORST No Frills in the area. I don't even bother going there anymore, even if it's to pick up one item. First of all, you'd risk being hit in the parking lot, they rarely have any items listed in the circulars, shelves are not stocked properly and, in my opinion, a few of the cashiers are pretty miserable. read more

Rotten fruits/vegetables hidden underneath of good ones, cheating at a cash register: if they have the same product with different price tags you can be sure that a cashier will try to charge you with the most expensive option. This has to be one of the worst No Frills around, the shelves are always empty and that includes all shelves and fruits and vegetables, no matter what day of the week it is, time of day i have been in there so many times only to be disappointed and had to leave empty handed. And the staff extremely rude, I am a customer and would like to be treated with some respect, remember without the customers there would be no Jim's No Frill. I am very disappointed and do not intent to go here again, I will go to the grocery stores with the "FRILLS" at least I will find what I need and be treated with professionalism. read more

Most cashier in this No Frills have terrible customer service. Firstly they don't know how to communicate, secondly they charged you for things you haven't even purchased. One time could be mistake, but multiple times can't be mistake. We as customer trust them to charge for what we purchase. When we reach home, you see extra charges. Now who care to go back to store for $3-$5. However, if this keep happening to many customers, then it sum out as large sum. I desperately think those cashier needs proper training. read more

Abundance of vegetables and fruit. They have a large selection and variety for a smaller location. The store is always clean and there lots of guys on duty replenishing food. Often long lines at cashiers and they need more registers open all the time. What's missing are garlic bread loaves. read more
