More like a 3.5. Ordered delivery during lunchtime on a Friday. Food came on time and was nice and warm, but then again I live pretty close. I got a BLT which was almost fantastic. Heaping amount of B, but it needed more T for me to like it more. My side of Dandy's Chips was awesome; the portion was huge (it's listed as a side and was ~$4 so I wasn't expecting a whole large containee full) and obviously freshly fried. So crunchy, so simple, so good. They poked holes in the container so it wouldn't get soggy from the steam. Partner got a half rack of ribs; says the meat was not the best quality but it was cooked nicely enough to fall off the bone. The BBQ sauce was apparently too sweet for his taste. His fries were soggy (they didn't poke his container lol. Consistency!) and his side order jumbo pretzel was not that great. Definitely a jumbo, but hard as a rock, and didn't come with enough dip. Even my dog, who loves basically everything, did not want the pretzel. That says something to me. Also, the first thing the delivery guy said to me was: "No tip?" with what I'm hoping was RBF. ... I had ordered a few times and always enjoyed the food. However, we got a delivery via DoorDash which included a salad. The lettuce was turning brown and the cabbage in the salad was covered in mold. This was totally unacceptable. My wife called the restaurant to bring this up. Instead of offering a solution, the person at Jim Dandy's on the phone said "the food was inspected" and to call doordash. Fries were great-not greasy or soggy. Ribs were great-not fatty n u actually get a mouthful of meat. Couldn't tell the difference between half rack n full rack - in terms of size, it looked the same. Was actually right nearby Jim Dandy's yesterday looking at an apartment. When we passed it my bf mentioned how he had been there a long time ago and remembers it being good. So we decided to go today for lunch, I'm always down for trying new spots. And I'm happy we did. It's a cool restaurant/pub with a country vibe. The train going around the room adds a nice little touch. We sat on the restaurant side of the place, you sit yourself. Lots of options on the menu to choose from. I got the Tex Mex Burger, he got the Black Jack Burger and we both shared Jim Dandy Fries. Everything was good, free refills on the fountain drinks which is def a plus. Service was good and not a long wait for the food. Def will return to try more things on the menu. read more

I figured out how to flip (flip!) the melted carpet of cheese over to reveal generous jalapeo portions, probably to distract me from the lack of "cajun" chicken (cue inset photo of Chef Prudhomme's "Poultry Magic"). Oh, oh, best part. So, Blue Moon Ale is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE GREY, RIGHT? Well fuck all if it wasn't grey and I didn't notice until halfway. Succulent ribs!! And that is pretty much what Jim Dandy's should stick to. Here is why: The pulled pork sandwich had a good amount of pork but it wasn't juicy or particularly tender where I can say I wanted more and more and more ! The sauce just didn't do it for me! In addition, it lacked good amount of smokiness. When I had the bbq chicken I thought it was overcooked and lacked flavor. I only kept eating because I was hungry ! Other fall backs were the chili, Mac and cheese and baked potato. The Chili didn't have real beans in it. It must have been liquified-Not my fave. Mac & cheese was ehh! Dry and pale. Bake potato over cooked and dry! Try Wendy's instead. read more

Alright, here's the deal. Their food? Fantastic. Really. And more importantly, it's consistent. I've ordered the same thing numerous times (always a rack of ribs with buffalo wings to split with the bf) and it's always great. The ribs are outstanding and their prices are pretty fair. So if I was reviewing the place based solely on their food? 5 stars, easy. However, I just couldn't bring myself to give 5 stars based on the fact that the employees really need to consider how they act towards the customers. Everyone kind of needs an overall attitude adjustment. And look, I get it! Food service isn't the most fun job there is. But it's no excuse to act sour. I almost exclusively order takeout because every time I go to sit and eat there, I just don't feel welcome. I was tempted to give 3 stars based on all this but I felt it would be a little harsh. Cliquey, Awkward for first timers. Upon walking into the establishment for the first time, there is no real direction. Patrons stare at you as if you're from another planet, you can't readily tell the workers apart from patrons, and there is no one to greet you - you're pretty much expected to know what to do/where to go. The concept of walking up to the counter to order your food is fine as long as you realize that is what you're supposed to do, after finding the seat of your choice - that is if you don't get the awkward stare down from the people at the nearest table. The food itself was just okay. The piece of wood in my sandwich made me lose my appetite after I was half way through it, and everything was just a bit too greasy. Many people love to come for the "famous ribs", which I haven't tried, and I can't say that I'd be in a rush to return any time soon. The overall experience is 5/5. We came here on a limb. All we knew is that this was rated the second best around the area. We ordered the bbq wings which were delicious! The bbq stocked within your fingers that you have to suck all of it. Then we received the main entrees which were the BBQ bacon burger and 1/2 chicken rack. The appearance: great. The flavor: 4.5/5. I got a ribeye steak sandwich with cheese and onions. When I first opened the box I thought they forgot the steak because I've seen more steak on a vegan hamburger and then on top of that once I took a closer i found they cooked the steak well through when I ordered medium rare. Overall, it was the equivalent of a bag of burnt chips the sandwich was mostly air because it definitely didn't have steak in it. I will be ordering elsewhere instead for now on. read more

The service wasnt great we just waited at our tables while the people at the counter stared at us for a moment and then just talked amongst themselves. Then we eventually figured out that we had to go up, get the menu, and order at the front. The food did not taste great. Meat was dry. Cheese was a generic yellow slice and fries were bland even with cheese and jalepeno on them. No ketchup offered. No salt and pepper on the table. The prices are fair, and they have a bar next door for anyone who wants to wash down their meal with a beer. Yet, it's a family place that's clean and lively enough for the kids. Ordered this a couple of days ago to go with the first game oh the NFL season! I absolutely love the ribs in this place. Fall off the no-bone tender and the sauce is really tasty. We also got the roast chicken to prep for this important day. All I can say about it is that it was okay. Nothing special but not bad. Usually when I'm in this corner of NJ I stop at Ralphs's Pizza across the street. Tonight I thought I'd mix it up and grab a bite here. The only bite I received worth mentioning was on my wallet. What I ordered was not all that expensive (about $9.75) but what I received in food quality was worth about $4.95. My trusty partner aka ... my wife and I ordered Rib Eye Steak sandwiches, the brief of this was (btw... this was an upgrade) the sandwich which was served on appropriate sub bread was the meat was fatty and grizzly and was not char broiled more like the grill wasn't hot enough and the meat just "cooked" since mine ordered was "all the way" the pepper strips were canned the onions were fresh panned fried and I wanted mine with hot peppers, which to the establishment meant jalapenos, though when I asked and specifically requested the round cherry peppers my front man reply was "there all green and hot they'll do" Also I might add...he stated that in between blowing his nose and coughing...nice. This is not my first visit but alas my final. Oh yea, one more dig...I don't find an antique stove covered in dust and grease as a prop in the side window very appealing. read more

this is one of the best places for a burger/pulled pork sandwich around. had the italian hot dog here, wow! their panini's are superb. try the steak or pulled pork one, you will not be disappointed. the staff is awesome. friendly and fun. go next door to the mudhole and watch the game or hang out with the hot barmaids. one of my all time favorite places to hang out for a beer and their awesome food. sorry about the caps but it's just that good! 10 stars if i could. read more
