We drove all the way to Clifton for Slap Burger as the first stop of a burger tour my wife and I recently started. It wasn't a place I had ever heard of before, but the hype and solid reviews were convincing enough to make it our opening act. The patties are halal, and whether that's the reason or not, there was a distinct smell coming from the beef--something noticeably different from a standard smash burger. Not necessarily bad, but definitely not my personal favorite. We ordered the Double Cheeseburger and the Slap & Melt. Between the two, the Slap & Melt clearly worked better for my palate. The patty and cheese played well together, the edges were nicely crisp, and the bun held everything together with a satisfying texture and balance. Ironically, the standout item for me was the chicken fingers--which were genuinely good. Overall, it wasn't a bad stop by any means. But given that Clifton isn't exactly around the corner for us, I'm not sure this is a place I'd go out of my way to revisit. Solid, but not destination-worthy--for us, at least. read more

The bun was good, but the burger itself wasn't as crispy as other smash burgers I've had; I also want to point out that the flavor of the burger wasn't my favorite as it reminded of lamb, and I'm not a fan of lamb, but others may find that appealing so just an fyi! Anyone else ever get lured to a new restaurant thanks entirely to the weekly junk mail circular that has a few food-related ads/coupons and then a whole lot of ads for roofing and getting old(er)? His bro went with some bizarre "loaded fries" combo (basically a burger smashed on top of French fries with all the fixings). "I wish they fixed the ratio and it had more meat than fries." - the older twin (that quip was a bullseye, and another 'move' they seemed to borrow from Five Guys) My chicken sandwich looked right off the kid's menu but it was jam-packed with flavor. From the sauce to the toppings to the wee little bit of actual poultry... good stuff. Their "slap lemonade" was incredibly tasty as well. None of us were able to finish all those fries, though. Really good smashed burgers. But besides that, what I liked about this spot particularly is that they have a lot of other good stuff. Like the loaded Mac and chicken. Which is what I got. It was good. Cheesey and it's a really good portion for the price! I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my delivery order last night . Unfortunately, the quality of the food was unacceptable for several reasons. Temperature and Freshness, The entire meal arrived cold. The burger and chicken tenders felt as though they had been sitting out for hours, and the fries were cold and hard.The cheese on the burger was not melted, and the grilled onions which are stated as a standard topping were completely missing. There's a lot of positive hype surrounding Slap Burger. So much so that I was concerned that it couldn't possibly live up to it. I am happy to say that it did in spades. The burgers are spectacular. Far and away the best "smash" style burger I have ever had. High quality beef smashed to perfection with just the right amount of caramelization and char. Moist and incredibly flavorful. Served with melted American cheese, pickles and a perfect bun, lightly toasted. I chose to go with mac and cheese for my side and it was excellent. Tasted home made. I plan to try the fries next time as they look pretty good as well. The service was on point. I waited about 10 minutes for the prep and it was worth the small wait. The dining area appears to have been inspired by Five Guys. Red, white and black. Almost identical. The prices are very fair. Before I get into this review let me first state I've met the owner multiple times at Chocolate House and he is a class act with top notch service and I personally want him to be very successful in his endeavors. That said, this review is to grab his attention so the staff he's hiring do not mess up his business. I went to Slap Burger Clifton on location Friday 01/02/26 as I've been many times and ordered a double with fries. Guy on the register told me about 10 minutes which sounded right since it wasn't busy. Stepped out for literally 2 mins and the buzzer went off.....that to me was a red flag. The moment I looked at the burger I knew something was wrong. Touched the patty and it was ice cold, had a foul odor and looked gray in color. For a second I thought it was a mistake and then looked over and saw the burger flipper.....dude if you're reading this , how difficult can flipping burgers be? If you can't get this job right might as well just stay home watching the sun rise. When asking the guy who took my order and some other " helper " they both were acting confused but knew exactly what had happened with the burger flipper hiding in the back. It's a shame that this establishment would pull a real shady trick with an item that is supposed to be cooked fresh to order. Stop foolingyour customers. Shame on You! read more

They also have a special sauce they call slap sauce that taste like a spicy thousand island dressing which I liked. They have other options and the prices are fair.
