Met up with some friends on a Friday night for Happy Hour. We got there at 5pm, knowing we only had to 6 pm to enjoy happy hour. We were seated in the back area as there was about 8 to 10 of us. The well drinks (tito, margarita, etc) were priced at $10 and appetizers priced at the same. I ordered a lemon drop martini to drink, grilled oysters and steak crostini to eat. My grilled oysters were okay, except for one that has some "crunch"...lol to it. My steak was medium and cooked as ordered. But the show stopper was definitely the lemon drop martini, it was a good strong. So I ordered a second. The other girls really enjoyed their Caesar salad and mango margaritas. The resturant was smaller than I thought but very cozy with a room with a bar and a dining area. There is an upstairs area where the only bathrooms are also located but it was empty when we were there. Also there is a parking lot, and they were offering valet when we went. I enjoyed the food I had as an entree (steak frites). What I didn't like was our waiter was constantly trying to up charge us. He kept asking if we wanted to add specific things to all our orders and even if we said no, he still insisted on it. This even occurred with shots of alcohol. I explicitly said I was driving and didn't want it and still shots were brought out with out us even asking. We thought maybe he was being very nice. Or maybe something was included we didn't know about ( what was added were things like a Caesar salad, Brussel sprouts, and sweet potato fries so it easy to see how we didn't see it was things out of the ordinary included as sides for meals) or we were for some reason getting something comped, but that was not the case. Our bill was ASTRONOMICAL. If we didn't have these items we didn't want added on, it would have been fine but this type of way of doing business makes me never want to go back. We considered fighting the bill, but we did eat the food because at the time we thought it was either included or comped. Please be aware of this if you visit this restaurant, and if you are insisted upon adding things to your order learn from our mistake and ask more questions if it's included or make sure you explicitly say NO. read more

Overall this is a great local steakhouse that will get it right 99% of the time. I enjoyed the food, the steak to cooked perfectly, nice char on the outside and pink in the middle. The mashed potatoes were delicious, seasoned just right. They have other sides that come with the steak like a baked potato and rice, but also other sharable sides like mac & cheese, veggies, etc. The service was very attentive, we began our meal outside but a bee decided to try and join, so we asked to move inside. They have outdoor seating in warmer weather with a live band and cozy fireplaces in the cooler months. Whether one's a meat lover, seafood enthusiast, or vegetarian, their diverse menu offers appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, burgers, and, of course, steak and seafood. As appetizers, we decided on a dozen Blue Point Oysters and Beef Empanadas. For our main meal, we opted for Pork Chop with Jersey Peach Sauce, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Mac-N-Cheese, Steak Frites and accompanied by a side salad. Some of us even saved room for Key Lime Pie. Complimentary bread started our meal. Everything on the menu was made with such care, love, fresh ingredients, and tasteful deliciousness. My colleagues and I came here around 2:30 pm for a party in the upstairs party room. There was a bar, which was nice, but I felt bad bc the server ended up having to go to the downstairs bar every so often to make cocktails bc the upstairs one didn't have all of the ingredients. The service was great; the servers were very attentive and kind. They brought up the food and arranged everything buffet-style for us promptly after we arrived. Everything was very orderly, and the food was served hot. The food itself was decent; it was pretty standard American food. We had salad, pasta, salmon, steak, mashed potatoes, and chicken wings. I have been dining at this establishment for years, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. I visited on Easter with a party of six, expecting the same level of quality and service I had experienced in the past. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations from the very beginning. The food temperature was a consistent issue--starting with the rolls and continuing through the cream of mushroom soup and main courses. Everything arrived barely warm rather than hot, which ultimately required sending food back to the kitchen. When the owner (who I understand to be Nicole) came to the table to wish us a Happy Easter, I politely asked to speak with her privately to address the issue. Rather than focusing on the concern at hand, she brought up a prior visit when we had dined on Thanksgiving Day and referenced a two-hour table limit. That prior experience also involved long delays in service and issues with food temperature, making it difficult to complete the meal within the allotted time. Yesterday, on Easter, despite having a 1:00 PM reservation, the main entrées were not served until approximately 2:30 PM, with the full table finally served at 2:31 PM--making it difficult to comply with a strict time limit when service itself was delayed. Guests are expected to wait until all meals are served before beginning, which further reduces the actual time available to dine. While the baked potato was properly hot (and honestly the best part of the meal), the steak and other items were again only warm. Despite this, we completed our meal and ordered dessert. The total bill came to $428.48 for six people, which would be acceptable if the overall experience met expected standards--but unfortunately, it did not. The most troubling part of the experience occurred after the meal. When the owner approached again, her tone and language were unprofessional. She stated that she knew I was "pissed," which I found inappropriate. I explained that this was not an acceptable way to address a customer, to which Nicole, I believe to be the owner, responded that she could speak to me however she wanted. The interaction escalated unnecessarily, ultimately ending with her telling me not to return--after I had already indicated that I would not. However, based on this experience--particularly the combination of poor food quality and unprofessional customer interaction--I will not be returning. To his credit, another staff member followed us outside and attempted to de-escalate the situation, which was appreciated. i see the owner responded and i wish to state the following for the record: The owner's response speaks for itself. As a paying customer, I approached the situation respectfully and privately, simply hoping to address concerns about food quality and service. Unfortunately, instead of professionalism, I was met with a dismissive and disrespectful reply. Hospitality requires accountability, composure, and respect--especially from ownership. The language used here reflects a clear lack of customer service skills and an unwillingness to handle feedback constructively. Disagreement is one thing, but responding in a hostile and personal manner is entirely inappropriate for someone representing a business. This experience was disappointing not only because of the issues during the meal, but more so because of how they were handled afterward. Professionalism matters, and in this case, it was clearly lacking. read more

I ate here fall of 2024 and I was not impressed. They get great reviews and I am not sure why. The cold bread during winter months should have told me it wasn't going to be good but we stayed. The food was mediocre at best. Today I bought a coconut cake based on recommendations from a Montclair fb group (it wasn't cheap) and was sorely disappointed. It was soooooo sweet that I think I got diabetes again. And the cake itself was dry. Not sure what people are eating and raving about; maybe they just love sugar ‍. The grey floors, table that could barely hold one plate, the cold empty walls accompanied by shark tank, storage wars and a football game on tv made us feel like we were in an episode of kitchen nightmares. It felt like the second floor was an afterthought and we were second grade customers. I did not want to judge the place too fast, but when we were seated a bread basket was placed on our table (cold stale bread) that should have been red flag number one. We ordered drinks, the drinks were gross, red flag number two. I order a burger medium. burger was rare in some spots and well done in others. (Picture attached) The inconsistency with in the patty should have made us walk out. The other meal- steak with mash. It was well done on one side and medium well on the other. Also came out from the kitchen barely hot, more towards the warm side which really makes a difference for a steak. -hoisin crispy brussel sprouts: cooked well but hoisin sauce was overpowering almost as if poured directly from a bottle. There was no complexity to the flavor. It did not complement the steak. Overall, was okay but would not return. It's been awhile since I've been here (pre-covid) and this experience bumped up my rating. We came on a Sunday night with reservations for 5 people. They start you with a basket of fresh warm bread. We had a couple of apps - buffalo chicken dip and empanadas, and we enjoyed both (though the chips seemed slightly stale and broken into small bits). Despite this one thing the rest of the meal was great. I got the ribeye medium rare which was perfectly done and tender. Nice large cut and huge pile of creamy mashed potatoes. The house salad that came with was fresh and the balsamic was delicious. The crispy onions and hoisin brussel sprouts were addictive, I need to make those brussel sprouts at home. I had 3 cocktails - 2 of them were the In Bloom (very refreshing) and the other was a mint chocolate martini for dessert. The creme brulee was perfection. As we walked in with a group of about 12 people, the place was looking like it was just getting ready for a bustling Saturday evening. I love this place. Over the years I've been there for lunch, dinner, a small graduation party, a party for a coworker who received her degree, and a political function. I hadn't been there in awhile because I no longer work in Bloomfield, but on Friday night a friend and I decided to go there. It was as good as I remembered if not better. I had prime rib with a delicious side of broccoli sauteed in garlic. The salad was fresh, the prime rib was perfectly medium rare, and the broccoli was plentiful and delicious, not overcooked at all. The prime rib was huge and thick, and there was so much that I brought more than half of it home. My friend also had the prime rib with a side of mushrooms and mashed potatoes. She said it was spectacular. No dessert for me, trying to be good, but I had a nice coffee. My friend had a flan and said it was very nicely done. Service was beyond perfect. They let us sit and catch up, and were great about checking on us to make sure everything was all right. I definitely will make sure to go back. read more

My night here was pretty relaxing. When you arrive they ask if you want inside or outside seating. I wanted outSide but it was packed so we sat inside. They started the software bread and water. Our waitress name was Charlie she was very vibrant. She started this off with appetizers which came out pretty quick because they use a computer system that was behind us. My appetizer was honey garlic wings. They were great and I'm actually really picky about wings the only thing is they had a lot of fatty deposits I had to pick around. Then I ordered a summer fling which came in a martini glass. Drink did it's job as pretty as it was it was strong. Then I ordered a meatloaf with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. At first I thought I liked the brussels sprouts because of the sauce they sautéed it in but once you get down to the brussels sprouts taste I was disgusted. So unless you love brussels sprouts and have that acquired taste for it I would not recommend it. The meatloaf was more on the dryer side, however it was still flavorful especially when you eat it with the mashed potatoes & gravy . My friend ordered a porterhouse steak w/ a baked potato and broccoli . It was also tasty. If you are in the mood for a homey meal this place is it. read more

I think the ambiance is really great as it seems like an old house converted into a restaurant. There is a fireplace with a fire going which really adds to the ambiance. They have a nicely decorated outdoor space as well if the weather is nice. The prime rib isn't available until later in the day (went around 3 pm and that wouldn't be ready until like 5). They have a few different beef cuts and all entrees come with a salad and a side. It's more expensive than chain steaks but not as expensive as high end steak places, so if you're looking for something in between, this is perfect for that (nice but not incredibly expensive.) The salad was small and decent, nothing special. The ribeye was cooked well and the cut wasn't a very high quality, which is why I put it at a medium ranked steak place. We got the broccoli as a side which was fine and shared a macaroni and cheese which was really good and cheesy but it was $10 extra. The service was great. Overall, the food was good and nice for a special occasion. I would come again for a nice steak, hopefully when the prime rib is available. read more
