My husband and I's favorite date night spot!! I always get the filet with the garlic mashed potato, he always gets the ribs and fries, and we always share the sauteed broccoli and mac and cheese. The servers are always great. We feel lucky to have this place so close to us!

Overall this is a great local steakhouse that will get it right 99% of the time. I enjoyed the food, the steak to cooked perfectly, nice char on the outside and pink in the middle. The mashed potatoes were delicious, seasoned just right. They have other sides that come with the steak like a baked potato and rice, but also other sharable sides like mac & cheese, veggies, etc. The service was very attentive, we began our meal outside but a bee decided to try and join, so we asked to move inside. Inside is a little dark, but gives steakhouse vibes. Our waiter was nice and informative, but everyone is there to assist in any way they can.

When one walks in the door of a lavish steakhouse, it's that delicious aroma of a fine selection of perfectly cut steaks, chops, and the soulful ambiance is always so romantic and warm. Housed in one of the oldest buildings of the Pre-Revolutionary War in Essex County, and with the basement once a stop on the Underground Railroad, this family-owned and operated establishment has been serving the Bloomfield area for over 20 years, and it's where we decided on dinner tonight. The reservation was easily made by calling Bloomfield Steak & Seafood located on Franklin Street. Upon arrival as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host and shown to a table in the cozy dining area in the back with a maritime decor vibe. They have outdoor seating in warmer weather with a live band and cozy fireplaces in the cooler months. Whether one's a meat lover, seafood enthusiast, or vegetarian, their diverse menu offers appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, burgers, and, of course, steak and seafood. As appetizers, we decided on a dozen Blue Point Oysters and Beef Empanadas. For our main meal, we opted for Pork Chop with Jersey Peach Sauce, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Mac-N-Cheese, Steak Frites and accompanied by a side salad. Some of us even saved room for Key Lime Pie. Complimentary bread started our meal. Everything on the menu was made with such care, love, fresh ingredients, and tasteful deliciousness. Each cut was cooked to absolute perfection--juicy, flavorful, and tender in all the right ways. The staff makes one feel welcome and well taken care of; our server, Andrea, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Excellent price for the quality compared with other places. Excellent all around, which we can recommend.

Today, I really needed those pick me up vibes and thank goodness I went to olé faithful. Today I got a clam chowder super creamy and filled with clam accompanied by a Caesar with salmon. Everything was fresh, satisfying and honestly well needed. My waiter is always so nice, attentive and funny too. I appreciate you so much Jordan, thanks for trying to make me smile. I love yall. Thank you

Best burger and prime rib around! The building has so much history - you can read the story in the menu. Service is friendly and attentive. Never had a bad meal. One of my favorite spots.

Do not go. Don't waste your money. Wayyyyyy better steak houses. Definitely Would not go again Went there for dinner and was unsure but walking in the place looked very cozy, rugs, wood tables by the fireplace. The outside had igloo set ups for what I assume nice intimate dinners. Waited for my table and we were sat in the second floor. As we walked up the stairs that were decorated with an old timey feel, which made us look forward to a nice ambiance for dinner as it had been since we had walked into the place...we entered a cold sports bar setting. Flimsy outside Tables were randomly placed in this cold millennial modern decor. The grey floors, table that could barely hold one plate, the cold empty walls accompanied by shark tank, storage wars and a football game on tv made us feel like we were in an episode of kitchen nightmares. It felt like the second floor was an afterthought and we were second grade customers. I did not want to judge the place too fast, but when we were seated a bread basket was placed on our table (cold stale bread) that should have been red flag number one. We ordered drinks, the drinks were gross, red flag number two. I order a burger medium. burger was rare in some spots and well done in others. (Picture attached) The inconsistency with in the patty should have made us walk out. The other meal- steak with mash. It was well done on one side and medium well on the other. The mash potato's were grainy and dry. We barely touched our meal. I felt like I was getting pranked. Best thing was the water and the waiter. DO NOT GO. Don't waste your money

From a food perspective, our meal initiated with a basket of some of the best rolls I had ever had. They were large, fluffy, and doughy with a hint of crispiness from a light toasting. We then shared the Veal and Beef Meatball, which was gigantic but still managed to have the ideal texture. It was also beautifully seasoned and served in what the chef called his "grandma's plum tomato sauce", which was divine! The sauce was thick and hearty, so when that was paired with pecorino cheese and basil oil, it really made for a fabulous dish. I even cut off a small piece to put inside my roll with a spoonful of sauce - chef's kiss! After that, we enjoyed some of the house-made pasta dishes, tasting each in a family-style format. The Squid Ink Bucatini was tossed with scallops, shrimp, and jumbo lump crab in a seafood tomato sauce. I did not love the briny finish to the sauce or that some of the scallops were chewy. The Tagliatelle with Duck Bolognese, tomatoes, and carrots was good, but I prefer my pomodoro sauce without the addition of a "light cream". Lastly, the special Spaghetti came with lobster, crab, and peas in vodka sauce. That one was definitely my favorite. While I do not love peas, the sauce was rich and flavorful. Across these last two dishes, I thought the pasta was a tad overcooked and could have been more al dente; the bucatini consistency was more inline with my preferences. Overall, I thought the food at Laboratorio Kitchen was above average, but that the service and atmosphere helped elevate the place. I would definitely consider going back to try some of their other dishes.

There aren't many places in the area doing this so I'm glad Crockett's exists! We called in our order about 15 minutes in advance which I highly recommend doing. By the time we got there, it was almost ready and considering we were hungry, I'm glad we didn't have to wait much longer. The fish & shrimp were cooked fresh and it shows. To start, the 6pc Jumbo Shrimp for ~$15 is pretty crazy. That's $2.50/shrimp which is high. It tasted good, well-seasoned, and the batter wasn't too thick. The Whiting & Catfish were both super flaky and light. They were lacking salt & pepper and could've been fried harder for me personally. The Whiting had much better flavor but you can't go wrong with both once you add the tartar sauce or hot sauce. Each dinner comes with 2 sides and I particularly liked the steak fries and mac & cheese. They just hit the spot more in a meal like this. The candied yams were more of a dessert and they are definitely heavy-handed with the cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and sugar. Good try, and this one meal kept us full all day!

The title of this review is "Looks Can Be Deceiving"…read more I've read tons of reviews on Crocketts and have passed it tons of times and today finally decided to stop in and grab a fish sandwich for lunch. The restaurant is exactly what people have said it is which is an old school fried fish joint! There's definitely a nostalgic feel to it from their cash only policy to the decor , to the counter where you order and to being able to look into the kitchen while you wait. You can also smell the fish frying from outside, which has always been a great sign in my experience. They have their menu on the wall and after I looked at it for a bit I decided to not to go with my fish sandwich but rather with a fried fish dinner because I really wanted to try their collard greens and baked macaroni and cheese in addition to the fried fish. The cost for the dinner was $21.99 which I found to be reasonable specifically because the fish is fried fresh and everyone said the portion sizes are pretty big. After placing my order, I knew I needed to go and feed the meter because in the true fashion of an old school soul food fish fry joint things were going to take a little while before they were ready. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be ready, and as I stated, everything was fresh. The reason that I titled this review "Looks Can Be Deceiving" is because the entire dinner overall looked amazing, however, I feel that the flavors of everything fell short. It's funny because I thought the collard greens looked like they were going to be slamming, and the mac & cheese looked like it was going to be the item that I disliked the most, but truth be told, the greens were what I dislike the most because there was no seasoning .... only vinegar. The mac & cheese had a bit more flavor, but it was dry and lacked on basic seasonings like salt and pepper. The fish while perfectly fried golden brown also was sadly pretty flavorless. And although the portion sizes were exactly what people said, and there was enough for two meals out of one dinner I am more than likely, not even going to want the second portion SMH. There were a lot of people ordering the potato salad though so perhaps that's the side I should've went with in addition to the candy yams ... but I will never know because unfortunately, I won't be back. I still have to thank Crocketts for taking me back with the old school vibe though .... Oh, one last thing, even though it did suffice because as I mentioned, I won't be eating the second portion of this dinner. I had to laugh because they only give you one small container of hot sauce, and one small container of tartar sauce for four large pieces of fish Lol.
