When I got there I was sat down with a menu of what they can do for me and what it MIGHT cost (though they wont know for sure till the end of the horrific hour long process). They nickle and dime EVERY PENNY from their customers. Straight down to that child tax credit I mentioned. For every child you can get a credit for they want $45 if you choose to accept said credit. So for me.. 3 kids=$135 in extra fees for HR BLOCK to greedily suck up despite it being money that the NYS GOVERNMENT gives to families with children. In what world does HR Block think they are living in where this is ok? And for those who think a private tax accountant is too much money they charge a standard $200 fee for a basic return. After H&RBLOCK was finished with me they took me to the cleaners for a grand total of $400. What scam artists. Please consider looking elsewhere to file. NOBODY SHOULD BE CHARGED A DIME TO RECEIVE A TAX CREDIT THE GOVERNMENT GIVES AWAY FOR FREE. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS THEIR JOB TO GET THEIR CUSTOMERS THE MAX REFUND POSSIBLE!!
