I needed an old VHS transferred to DVD. I googled VHS to DVD near me and saw a drive out to the…read moreburbs was in the cards. The first place I found was right off 696 in Roseville and had a giant Trump 2020 sign out front. So I wasn't giving them my money. My search then led me further in the direction of exurbia to this establishment in a strip mall with a big pothole right near the entrance of the parking lot. The ADVANCED MEDIA COPIES letters on the black awning are very tattered, fading into Thanos snap like oblivion at the bottom. My spirits were lifted by the sight of vintage cameras displayed in glass cases upon entering... and then fell as I heard right wing talk radio being played in the shop. Ugh. Well, I didn't want this to turn into a wild goose chase so I dropped off my VHS with the request it be burned onto 5 DVDs. I filled out a very brief form, and asked for a business card. The guy who waited on me didn't have any but offered a notecard sized flyer that did have the phone number. Good enough. It was $30 for the 5 DVDs. I don't know if that was a good or bad price but I could deal with it. I kind of expected this would be a 24 hour job, so I was surprised when he said they'd be ready by Friday. (This was I believe on a Monday.) Well, it took me a couple weeks to get back as they close so early and my ride was stranded with a flat in front of where I live for several days as I didn't feel like putting on the spare in the snow, the ice and the cold. I kind of figured AMC would call but they never did. Not a big deal I guess, but it added to the lackadaisical vibe I got. I finally made it out to Garfield and Canal road to pick up my DVDs. All the orders were lined up on a shelf near the front door in identical white bags with no external markings. Looked likely to cause confusion, I thought, and it took a few extra seconds to find mine, but still I got it okay. It took me a couple days to throw my one of my new DVDs in the player and give it a spin. All was good at first until the DVD came to an abrupt end at exactly 12:43 of a two hour tape. I pulled out my tape and saw it was right near the beginning. It did get a bit jammed up there, but I was able to fast forward it past that point. I would think they would be used to that problem with old VHS and would have checked to see the tape was still almost all the way at the start. I didn't mind a short gap there to bypass the problem but I needed the whole thing transferred and this really pissed me off. So after several more days I found the time to drive back out to Clinton Township and explain my problem. The guy assured me he'd fix it and again it was going to take like 4 days. So I drove back out on the Tuesday he said it would be ready. I got there at 8:40. Door was locked and nobody was there. I was mildly annoyed, but no reason to be a drill Sargeant about it. I went to get some breakfast down the street at McDonald's, came back and AMC was still closed up. So I drove about a mile to the Clinton-Macomb public library and whiled away about 45 minutes there. (Real nice place, probably deserving of 5 stars!) Returned to AMC to find it still closed up. I didn't feel like driving all the way back home so I drove to my parents empty condo in Harrison Township (they winter in Florida) and took a nice long nap. (I don't know why I woke up so early. Off days are for catching up on sleep!) I finally woke up close to 4, immediately called AMC. Guy said sorry, he had a family emergency with his dad and had to go to the emergency room. This was something I considered in my anger, and said I was sorry to hear that. If my overall experience wasn't so bad I'd even give another star out of sympathy (unless of course he was just fast on his feet with a good excuse). He said he was just about to leave but I said I was coming right down so he waited around. (Good thing I called.) I finally got my DVDs and they are almost the whole tape but at the point of the tape jam there's two full minutes where the DVD is frozen like a screenshot in silence before it finally continues. I definitely could create a gap way less than that with just fast forward and rewind but it's not worth getting the DVDs redone somewhere else. It would seem more acceptable if not for the original error but I can deal with it. Still, I'm never going back to this place again.

He was funny, and he has the ability to get people to dance. (I'm sure the open bar helped). He has video and AV equipment available as well (DJ and videographer). I needed a slide projector last min and it was great to use an existing vendor (rather than search for another person). He had it, brought it, and presented it better than I had en-visioned it myself. What a relief! My parents, whom I"ve never seen or heard of dancing at anyone's wedding, was forced by my brothers to dance, and they stayed and danced a couple songs. It was great. He set the right tone and mood to the event, and we had a great time. My wedding was a mix of grandmothers to ringboy dancing, and they all had a great time. The ring boy said he has the most fun dancing. My mother-in-law loved the dancing. I survived 3 line dances requested by my mother-in-law. I'm amazed by John's skill and very happy that I hired him for my wedding. My friend who lives in San Diego wants to hire him, but unlucky for her, he is only in Michigan. I don't regret my choice of DJ.

I still have guest telling me how much fun it was! From the start, Tony made sure that I understood everything that was going on. He gave me a ton of tips and tricks to make sure the day goes smooth, and that I take a deep breath and take a step back to really take it all in because it goes by so fast, and he was right. He worked so well with all of my other vendors and I truly believe that is the reason that my wedding went SO well. If you're on the market for a DJ, JD entertainment is the company and Tony is the DJ! I would book with this company over and over again because I had such a great experience. The dance floor was packed all night. I had a fairly long wedding reception but there was never a dull moment thanks to Tony!
