I couldn't continue my drive to Chicago and I was a few hours from home. So I googled mechanics near me. I came across Sprowls, called and spoke with Andrew. I explained to him what was going on with my truck. He said to bring it in and he would get to me right away. Long story short we attempted a few quick easy fixes to try and get me back on the road to Chicago. None of them ended up working sadly. However, I really appreciate Andrew and his honesty. He could have easily of taken advantage of me. Being a female and not really understanding mechanics, I usually leave all that to my husband to handle. Most times in the past when I walk into an auto shop they throw everything at me to replace seeing me as an easy target to make money. That did not happen yesterday. In fact just the opposite. Andrew wasn't able to fix my truck and actually refused to let me pay him even though he spent his time looking at my truck and trying to repair it. My truck is now home and taken apart at our local shop and sounds like it will be a few days before repairs will be completed. I figured it would be a day or two since there is no Subaru dealer within a 50 mile radius. I was offered a loaner. I was pretty impressed that the repair was finished by that afternoon. The mechanic, upon inspection of my car, suggested a transmission flush (odometer at 61000 and past due), new tire, and an oil change. I did add the trans flush but passed on the other stuff. No pressure tactics, just honest advice. One tiny critique: a bolt that holds the alternator belt shroud was over-torqued. Its a quirky Subaru thing but without any play in that bolt, the power steering pump will shudder at a stop or low speeds. (Bolts are meant to be tight, right?) I told you its quirky.

I just want to give her perks for being a decent person and trying to run a good company. While I'm still giving this event one star, I think she deserves all five. Attendant checking customers in was hostile when I failed to understand that a stop sign at their facility somehow meant stop and wait in place. I did exactly what I did the last time they changed my oil which was stop at the stop sign and then pull around to the back of the building where the sign said to wait for the attendant. After the attendant checked in two customers that came in behind me, he finally deemed me worthy of attention. At that time he told me that because I wasn't happy to be ignored for 10 minutes while sitting waiting to get my oil changed that I wasn't good enough to have my oil changed at his facility. I will investigate if this is a chain, because if it is, I will complain to corporate. I will also advise everyone I know to please not use this facility. What a jerk!
