The transmission failed shortly after they rebuilt it. They reluctantly "repaired" it under warranty but after getting truck back it didn't shift properly. Brought it back again and they said they couldn't figure it out. And that I should take it to a Chevy dealer? After taking to Chevy dealer they diagnosed that Freds had repaired with an incorrect part. I paid the Chevy dealer for the diagnostic work. Freds made a huge deal at that point about reimbursement of the $75. Then the transmission fails again one month out of warranty. Had the transmission re-rebuilt again by another shop @ that point and it lasted 10 plus years.

The mechanic, upon inspection of my car, suggested a transmission flush (odometer at 61000 and past due), new tire, and an oil change. I did add the trans flush but passed on the other stuff. No pressure tactics, just honest advice. One tiny critique: a bolt that holds the alternator belt shroud was over-torqued. Its a quirky Subaru thing but without any play in that bolt, the power steering pump will shudder at a stop or low speeds. (Bolts are meant to be tight, right?) I told you its quirky.

This auto repair shop lacks on price transparency and unwillingness to address concerns. During a service visit, additional repairs were suggested to my partner without disclosing costs upfront. When we later disputed the charges--explaining we were never informed of the price--they dismissed our concerns and refused any refund. Clear communication and accountability are essential in trustworthy businesses, and this experience fell short on both.
