We had such a great experience at Jimmie's Ladder 11! From the moment we arrived, everything was easy and welcoming. We found parking without any trouble and were seated quickly, which was especially nice since we had a larger party with us. Our server, Angel, was amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure our whole group was taken care of. She kept our drinks filled, checked on us often, and really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Great service can really make a meal, and Angel definitely made our experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Jimmie with a side of French onion soup, and both were packed with flavor. The Jimmie was cooked perfectly and had so much taste, and the French onion soup was one of the highlights -- rich, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. You can tell they put care into the food they serve. My son ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and said his meal was amazing as well. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back the next time we're in the Dayton area. Stopped in for a solo lunch. They always have something new to me on the beer list. They have a good wine list and full bar as well. Today I chose a crock of French Onion soup and a sandwich. With my beer it was about $30. The soup is decent, the sandwich was really fresh and tasty. It was turkey and slaw, I wasn't sure of that combo and glad to say it works. Service is attentive, if it wasn't rainy hot and humid, I'd have sat on the patio. I've never had a bad experience here. read more

Ok bar and grille by UD... I grew up in Centerville, but never checked out Jimmie's Ladder 11 (surprisingly)... Stopped by for dinner with family. Jimmie's is a super chill place frequented by all the "UDers"... Nice laid back vibes, good crowd, solid beer selection, and alright food (the sandwiches looked pretty good). We weren't super hungry, so we got the blackened walleye and Parmesan crusted salmon... Neither were bad, but we've had much better. The place was pretty busy as it was a Friday night, so the service was just "okay" (our server was a bit snarky and short; you could tell she was very overwhelmed with service). The biggest drawback however was the price... $90 w/ tip for two dinners and two beers (completely ridiculous). All-in-all, Jimmie's was alright but definitely not worth the price. read more

We were in town for a short visit. We've been to Jimmie's Ladder before but not for brunch. Wow, their brunch is wonderful! I had the Grapefruit Mimosa. I've had "regular" orange mimosas before and decided to give the grapefruit a try. It was so refreshing and delicious! We shared an order of chicken biscuits and they were so good. Got the pretzels as an appetizer and they were delicious. Got the special which was a smash burger. The burger was just a regular burger, nothing smashed about it. But ... 1) The "host" at the front counter either wasn't the host or else was completely clueless. Another group was ahead of us and he ignored all of us completely until I asked who we were to speak to about getting seated. Ten minutes later (seriously) we were seated at a table that had been empty the entire time. Great first impression. 2) My Chicken Parm was decent enough but it came out much later than the other meals at our table and was severely lacking in spaghetti. Sorry but that's a pet peeve of mine. I visited there and was extremely dissatisfied. I ordered the Ladder 11 Sandwich, and it literally had two slices of pastrami/cornbeef on it. They should have called it a cole slaw sandwich, because it was layered with cole slaw. They basically charged me $18 for bread and a lettuce sandwich. The server was apologetic, but they should be embarrassed serving a cole slaw sandwich. Not going back. read more

I had lunch here today in this old firehouse. They have their own parking lot behind the restaurant but it fills up quickly. Fortunately there is a lot of free street parking back there too. Inside Jimmies has a lot of character with an attractive old time rustic decor. I was in the mood for a sandwich and they have several to choose from. I went with the Cornerstone for $13. It comes with chips but I opted to sub up for the hand cut fries for an extra $2 more. My lunch took at least 20 minutes to appear but my waiter was nice enough to apologize due to then having a large party upstairs that backed up the kitchen. That's ok as I appreciated the explanation. The Cornerstone has grilled steak slices and sautéed onions topped with some tomato and garlic slaw with a few French fries added and all held together on a toasted Hoagie bun. I liked this sandwich ok but hoped for a little more steak and onions for added flavor. I did not care for the 3-4 fries added to the sandwich as the fries overpowered the rest of the sandwich. On the other half of the sandwich, I took the fries off and enjoyed it better than the first half. Actually I liked their hand cut fries and am glad I ordered them just not on the sandwich. They were golden brown and full of potato flavor and I recommend upgrading to the fries when you can. They were excellent! My table service was very attentive and I would be happy to return. read more

Jimmie's Ladder is our go-to spot when visiting our son at UD. We met Alia on her first week working as a waitress there and even though it was her first week, service does not get any better! I work near Jimmies and I've been wanting to try it. I see they are always busy. The inside is smaller than I expected and I felt too close to the people next to me. But it's nice inside. I ordered the tuna melt and a cup of french onion soup. Was disappointed when I was given just a tuna salad sandwich. It's not what I ordered but I didn't want to send it back. It was good but again not what I ordered. The soup broth had good flavor. Didn't really have much onion in it. I didn't like the bread they used in the soup. It over powered the broth. I'll go back again because I want to try the tuna melt. I've been told by a coworker their tuna melt was really good. read more

I'd probably give this more stars but the air conditioning was either not working or nonexistent. We were here on a super hot and humid day and it was nearly unbearable. That aside the restaurant is located in an old fire station complete with a fire pole and lots of Dayton fire and city paraphernalia. The place was hopping for 5 pm on a Tuesday, but we got seated quickly. Our server was training and both of our wait staff were attentive and helpful. Drinks were refilled without us having to ask. We ordered a starter, a summer special of fresh made pickles, which came with onion butter and warm bread. The onion butter was surprisingly good. My main dish was a Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich with fries instead of chips. It was tasty and the fries were excellent with a cup of their house made ranch. Overall the atmosphere was pleasant and the food was good. Just needed to be a little cooler to enjoy our time inside this very unique fire house pub. read more

Had a superb dining experience here, one of the best I've had in quite some time. It's got a very unique look and feel - located inside a 120-year old firehouse. Brick, wood, lots of dark red. Somehow it's trendy and historic at the same time with a steampunk vibe. One set of taps built into a vintage fireplug, another attached to what appears to be a pot belly stove. Big and spacious dining room, mostly tables, with a gorgeous gilt-trimmed bar. We opted to eat at the bar and got great attentive and caring service- I didn't catch his name, but a big guy with a nose ring and a Hawaiian shirt really treated us right. When I told him no croutons on the salad and asked for the chicken cordon Bleu with no bun, he alerted me that they have GF buns. How thoughtful is that? Now I'm actually on keto right now and GF sometimes works but not always, so I asked if he knew the ingredients. He said I'll go find out! And sure enough he was back shortly and reading me the ingredient list off his phone. That Caesar salad was excellent, rich flavor and the Romaine just slightly wilted to give it a perfect texture- without the sharp edges you sometimes experience with Romaine. I loved my main and my husband was very satisfied with his Canadian Walleye, particularly the generous portion. He also asked for the veggies well done/very soft, and Jimmie's delivered. The highlight was an amazing appetizer, the Blind Dates. This was a finalist in Best of Dayton and I can see why. And taste why. Totally unique symphony of flavors with a slightly spicy umami finish. These were so good we ordered another to go for lunch the following day! I highly recommend you give this app a try. Jimmie's has a private parking lot, a pleasant hostess to greet and seat you, a covered patio seating area, a small stage for occasional live music, and a huge second story with balcony and its own bar, for large groups or parties. Absolute perfection! I love Ladder 11!! This was my 2nd time here and like the first it was perfect. My partner and I always sit at the bar. The bar staff couldn't have been more friendly and attentive! Great work! Tonight I had the Smothered sirloin steak with house salad and steamed broccoli. This meal was completely perfect! Seriously it couldn't have been better. The house salad was wonderful with house made ranch. The steak though, wow!...cooked to perfection. Beautiful crust on the outside and perfectly cooked to rare (as I ordered) on the inside. Then topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms and blue cheese on top.
