After a trip to the grocery store with some family, we were more than ready for sandwiches, pizza, and cold beers. Double Days looked like the right spot, was close by, and most of what we tried delivered The crispy haddock sandwich was huge with the right balance of toppings. The meat lovers pizza had a great mix of toppings without being greasy, and the balsamic personal pizza was done just right with a nicely baked crust that was crunchy The only letdown was the club sandwich. It was covered in too much mayo, which made it oily and took away from what could have been a solid classic. However, the French Onion soup made up for the sandwich issue. The overall winner was the Italian which had the perfect bread. Mad I didnt order it myself as it looked delicious and cousin raved about it throughout the meal Service was so-so and very slow for a Saturday, especially since the restaurant was not that busy. DoubleDays has always been a solid option for lunch/dinner. Tonight I doordashed it and the food was good, although the rice in the fajita lean bowl was slightly undercooked. The buffalo chicken quesadilla was very good and the presentation of the food was excellent and the bowl and had a large portion included. I added chicken to the lean bowl which was a nice addition. I was conducting a training for a Springboro company and they ordered Doubleday for lunch, so I can't speak to their service or ambiance. I can say that the food I received was fresh and delicious. I had one of their Thursday specials: the Chicken Fajita Lean Bowl. I loved that they offer brown rice in it, but do wish there was more of it in the bowl. The greens were fresh, but did outweigh the rice -- that's why I would define this more as a "salad" than a "bowl." But given that, the ingredients seemed treated with care -- many of them, like the peppers, were softly cooked & seasoned in advance. The portion size was ample, including the sliced chicken on top, which had a nice char and grill marks. All together, a fresh well-cooked meal, and a good option to the usual burgers and fries (though the consensus around the table was that they were very good also). read more

I few weeks ago, I ordered a grilled cheese with extra pickles and was surprise to see they added $0.25 for them. I had the same today and looked at the bill to see if maybe it was a mistake before. Must have been because now they added $0.50 for them. Even McD's gives extra pickles for free!!!! Just made my last trip to this place. Prices are outrageous in the first place, then to add insult, extra for something as basic as pickles??? Then, as if all that wasn't enough, the fries that came with it had very clearly made earlier and then put back into the fryer to reheat and reserve. Goodbye. My wife and I stopped here for dinner during a recent visit to Ohio. We grew up and lived in the area most of our lives, but had never been to DoubleDay's. Shame on us. Turned out to be a very good choice. My wife had the "small" Greek salad, which is misleading. It it not small, and my wife was convinced the server ordered her the wrong size. But it was right, and she said it was very good....and took some home. I had the personal size monster pizza....also bigger than I expected, and it was very good as well. Service was good, the restaurant is nice, and the prices were decent. Overall, we will definitely consider it as an option on our next visit to Ohio. read more

I am a massive fan of double days. This place has THE BEST fried pickles. It's a must if I come to this establishment that I order some fired pickles. I like the layout of this double days as well. It's dimly lit, has tv's, is very clean, and the staff is very welcoming. At this specific visit I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fires. The sandwich was very good. My only critique is I'm not a fan of the sandwiches with two tenders instead of the patty. The fries were very good and well crispened. I think it could have used a little more seasoning but overall, very good. My gf ordered a pizza and of course I had a piece, and it was very good. Crispy and flavorful. Service was good but the food was bland. We went on a Thursday night. I ordered the old fashioned bacon cheeseburger with wedge fries and my wife ordered the Reuben with regular fries. The burger patty was kind of bland and the pretzel bun barely qualified as a traditional pretzel bun...no real flavor. But I will say the wedge fries were quite good. Like the burger, the Reuben also lacked flavor and was a little dry. The standard fries that came with it were overcooked and a tough. I thought about saying something but the staff looked tired and it was getting late. In all honesty this was not worth the price we paid. Too much for too little. read more

First things first what i did not like was the Pizza. Dayton has many great pizza places and this reminded me of Chuck E. Cheese crust. The location the layout of the restruant was great. We were on our way home from a day of baseball at Bluffton and was looking for a place en route. Yelp recommendation did not disappoint. This place was fantastic. The pickles were top notch! Breaded in-house and they were some of the best I've had. But for me the real star was the chicken fajita salad. This salad was AMAZING! The portion was huge. Blackened chicken was perfectly grilled. The veggies were crisp and perfect. We live in Cincy but best believe anytime I'm near Dayton, I'll be stopping in here. Service was great also! Very sweet server. I could overhear the bartenders with the guests at the bar and super friendly. I tried the French Onion soup which was OK but some of the breadcrumbs were hard. Caesar salad was warm and 1/2 slab ribs, fall off the bone printed on menu, were anything but. To start we ordered the Spinach Con queso (cup size for $10.00) and for dinner I ordered the personal pan size Frankie's Favorite for $11.25 (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onio, and green peppers) everything we ordered was amazing it was so good we ended up ordering a large pizza to go for $23.50. Stopped by the Springboro Doubleday location for dinner on Saturday night as the Centerville location is finishing up their relocation to their new location. We were told we would have a 20 minute wait, but only took a few minutes. Inside the restaurant appropriate social distancing is observed and everyone wears a mask if not seated at their table. DoubleDay's has an extensive menu they truly have something for everyone. My Dad loves their french onion soup it has that cheesy top to it and is always served hot. My Mom loves their chicken quesadilla and I love their power bowls, but decided to try something different this time the Malibu Melt - turkey, lettuce, guacamole and aioli sauce. The vibe of the restaurant presents itself as having better food than it does, which is similar to bar menus with pizzas and burgers. They dont have tap to pay, which was awkward when came time to pay but could use my card number. The servers are always helpful here. The first thing we noticed was that much of the menu was homemade/made from scratch. I asked our server what he would suggest & he said the quesadillas were good. I ordered the 7 layer (chicken) quesadillas that came with salsa & sour cream and were topped with lettuce, tomato & black olives. I also requested a side of guacamole. My husband got the Oven Baked Fish which was served with coleslaw & house recipe tartar sauce. His side of choice was mac n cheese. I enjoyed my quesadillas & my husband really liked his meal. This was a nice find for us in Springboro. We arrived at our daughter's place in Centerville on a Friday evening and wanted to go out at about 9 PM for dinner. I consulted Yelp to find this option. This establishment was ideal as it was a 12-minute or so drive and was open until 10:30. The place was easy to find. The storefront was average in appearance and easy to spot on OH741. The interior sported a dining area on one side and a bar with restaurant seating on the other side. With our late night arrival, they were seating everyone on the bar side. It was fairly laid back and sedate so that was not a problem. It was also nice to have some sports programming on the overhead TV monitors. We were seated quickly and our server, Joe, attended to us right away. He was a very nice guy with a lighthearted approach and did a terrific job taking care of us during our visit. The menu was fairly typical in terms of pub grub with a decent amount of variety. There were four of us and we tried the Greek Chicken Quesadilla, Greek Salad with Shrimp, the Buffalo Sandwich with Onion Rings and the Chicken Gyro with Sweet Potato Fries. My daughter and her boyfriend started with a bowl of French Onion Soup. The reviews from everyone were quite positive. I had the Gyro and Sweet Potato Fries and was pleased with my choices. The fries were particularly good as they were a little thicker and imperfectly cut to give them a homemade taste. The final bill with food, drinks (two of them water), tax and tip was $70. At $17.50 per person, this was a reasonable deal. I am sure we will be back or at least try their other location as we were rather happy with our visit. read more
