So glad we happened to be in the area and tried this place for lunch. The restaurant has a very…read moreJapanese feel to it. You place your order on the tablet, there is just one guy working in there who makes the food and places it on the counter. The decor is simple and just right. The food is the best food ever! I had the rice paper wrap with tofu in it. I could only eat half as I was so full. The seasoning on the fries is so good.. and the cucumber salad was top notch. Even the drinks in the cooker area were very interesting that I had never seen before. It's very clear that this is a very well thought out restaurant. The only feedback I would give is to add a couple of options for vegan gluten free in the menu. My wrap had to be customized and communicating with the chef was a bit of a challenge due to language.

Zenwich - Tasty Food, Lacking Warmth…read more My family and I recently visited Zenwich and tried a little bit of everything--two sandwiches and two rice bowls. Let's start with the good: the sandwiches were delicious, with standout bread that really elevated the meal. While I wouldn't go out of my way to make a special trip just for them, they were definitely enjoyable and well-executed. The rice bowls earned a solid 7.5 from my husband and son. Flavorful and filling, but maybe missing that little extra something to make them truly memorable. Where Zenwich unfortunately fell flat was the customer service. We visited around 5 PM on a Friday and there was only one person working. Not only were we not greeted when we walked in, but we stood at the counter for several minutes without even being acknowledged. I even saw another customer politely thank the staff member after asking for a napkin, and he didn't so much as look up in response. It left the whole experience feeling impersonal. If the service matched the quality of the food, this would've easily been a four-star visit. With just a bit more effort in the hospitality department, Zenwich could really shine.

Hidden…read moreaway in the basement of a Citibank building (you have to take the elevator down) on the outskirts of Oak Brook Mall. Uniquely, my meals from West Oak Deli have always had a good homemade taste to them. Not tidy or processed like you often find in restaurants, but really tasting like it came out of someone's kitchen, with all the joys as well as inconsistencies that can produce. Now, I know there are many current fans who will come gunning for me for letting Yelpers in on their little secret, but I'm kind of a squealer and a tattle anyway. Only open from 7:00am to 2:30pm, the hours are pretty limited. But I've found it's a good place to go for lunch pickup. PICKUP! because there are literally less than a handful of tables in there. It can get kind of crowded around lunch, with people standing around waiting for their orders, so go early or later. Or be prepared to make friendly conversation with your fellow patrons. THE FOOD!: This place is homemade sandwich-based, most for $5 or less. Deli, wraps, panini, subs and salads. With breakfasts for $3 or less. And they give you a lot of food. Lots. But the thing to pay attention to is their daily specials. I've had a veggie lasagna in white sauce, that was so large it covered me for three meals. I've had paninis and wraps that were easily twice the size of other sandwich places. The thing to watch out for when transporting your meal is "steam". They give the food to you fresh and hot, but the wrappings they use for sandwiches, tend to hold the heat and steam on your paninis and wraps, so they can get a bit soggy. Ask them to wrap yours more loosely or you can crack a vent open for steam yourself. Should they switch to wrapping sandwiches in a less heat retaining waxed paper (ie. Potbelly's). Sure that would help. Still a huge, delicious homemade sandwich for $5 is worth a bit of compromise.

When the current owner took over prices skyrocketed. In my opinion you can get a better quality lunch at Panera for the same price (easily over $10 if you're not careful). It was a convenience during bad weather but not worth going if you don't work in the building. Mimi made the place pretty good, mostly with her fun presence and attitude. I'm not sure if she's still there. My main reason for reducing my original review is the annoyance of them not removing me from their mailing list. This morning I made my fifth request to do so. They simply won't and evidently don't care. So I decided to place this comment here so that current and potential future customers are in the know. Do yourself a favor; go to the Shake Shack next door instead...

In a pinch, don't have time to make dinner? I highly recommend this spot…read more I've been meaning to post about my experience here since last week. This is my second time eating from Cuomo's. If you're looking for an authentic Italian place at a great price, this is the spot. The portions are huge, prices are great & the services is amazing. Let's talk about price, quantity, quality & service: The quantity: For under $50.00 I was able to have a full dinner with desert served for myself and my husband, it's definitely a win, win, on this alone! The quality, was great. The vodka sauce is to die for. Their roasted chicken, tastes better than I've had in a long time, it was very tasty chicken. Their carrots are dipped in some type of honey recipe, they serve very tasty mashed potatoes. Their beef are good and tasty. (Wish they served it with French fries). Their banana strawberry pudding cake is delicious. (Definitely recommend). Service: The service was very warm & inviting. Although when you first walk in, it kind of gives that cafeteria vibe. Although some seating is available, not really a place to sit down & eat. The cashier was a typical cute young Italian girl, she will welcome you in with her warm smile, big brown eyes and dark brown curly hair. She is super sweet & attentive. The manager/ possibly owner(?) whose name I want to say is Peach, she is this attractive grandma, with the red hair, just like a peach :) She walked around with a lot of fire in her still. They are definite the dynamic duo, a great asset. With the cost of everything now , eating out is nearly impossible lately. But where else will you get great food, exceptional customer service at an amazing price? I will definitely be returning here again & again. Thanks for the recommendation Nate. Next time, I will be sure to take a picture of our food before we eat it.

This is one of my preferred Mariano's locations to go to as the parking is more spacious and logically laid out than some of the other locations. I also like the very spacious layout of this spot, with lots of room to casually browse and enjoy the shopping experience. One of the interesting things about this location is how giant everything feels, with the ability to really see from one side of the store to the other. I'm not necessarily sure if this is a good or bad thing (similar to Woodman's) where you know you can get everything you need to buy here, but at the same time the store might feel too large (the Northbrook location I think has a similar amount of options, but the way it's arranged makes it not seem as overwhelming). The store overall is clean with plenty of attractive looking displays. The selection is outstanding and prices are competitive. Checkout is quick and efficient as well.
