    Food truck

This is a great food truck that was stationed at the New Tampa beer festival this past weekend. They were quick, efficient, friendly and the food was awesome. We had the fried soft shell crab sandwich and the burger topped with crab dip filled with crab meat. They were both absolutely delicious and filling, came with French fries as well. Reasonably price the lady at the front was very sweet and efficient. They didn't have the longest line because their food came out nice and quick. They are located in the Lakeland /Bartow area but if you see this food truck in your area as they do go everywhere in the Tampa area, make sure you check them out. The perfect food to compliment any beer festival. They do change their menu offerings as well so they don't have the same things every time.

Grouper Sandwich and Crabby Fries $16

Made a special trip yesterday to Grove Roots partially to try Jimmy's. It was the right call for sure. The Grouper Sandwich and upgrades Crabby Fries pictures here hit the spot. The Grouper had a nice fluffy and light breading that I enjoyed but the Crabby Fries were out of this world with a rich sauce, Old Bay Seasoning and generous chunks of crab meat on top. The upgrade was only $3 so don't be cheap and miss out! I thought the prices were fair with my meal clocking in at $16. Service was quick and friendly. They accept credit cards and use Square. I can't wait to track them down again!

Food slaps. By far my favorite food truck. Never have had a bad experience! Figured I'd drop a good review based on my actual experience unlike most of these Karen's on here that get bent out of shape for a company sticking up for themselves from intolerant Vegans and PETA. I can't wait for another DELICIOUS and MEATY Crabby chicken!

The Crab Cake, doesn't look as good as it tasted.

A Taste of MD in Tampa! How excited was I!? Being a Virginia native, I've grown up trying all types of crab cakes, my favorite of course being the Chesapeake Blue Crab. I'm used to jumbo lumps in my crab cakes and a nice kick of old bay. I've got to tell you, Jimmy's did not disappoint. Originally established in Maryland, the company has expanded and made its way down to Tampa. The food truck came to my office for a rally and I've got to say at first I was a little skeptical of "food truck seafood", but they boasted the best crab cakes in Tampa so of course I had to try. As you can see in the picture, I couldn't wait to try it. The amazing aroma permeated my area. The crab cake itself seemed a little small to me at first, then I realized it was more full than I expected. Perfect ratio of crab meat, just "lumpy" enough. It held together beautifully, and the sauce underneath it was to die for. The slight zing was a perfect accompaniment. I'm still kind of drooling typing this out. I also added fries for a couple bucks more and they were seasoned perfectly, old bay is my favorite. As for service, the woman was super nice and everything took about 8-10 minutes total, but I did not mind at all. Price wise, a little pricey to me before I realized how much crab had been used. This would actually probably be priced slightly low back home.

My only hang up was indeed not having more variety for sides, especially when they already have the item on their menu. Other than that, the food was fantastic, service was great, and it was a great experience. I did see some non-fried options, but YOLO. Definitely recommend the grits. Okra was perfectly cooked. I had the clam strips and they were delicious. Gator bites were tasty as well. Highly recommend everything I had and can't wait to explore more. Service was fast and very friendly. Checked in often and refilled consistently. Plenty of parking out front and easy to spot off 98. I've driven by it many times, so it was great to finally come in and try it.

It was lunchtime and the parking lot was about 3/4 full...a good sign. Prior to entering the front door, I couldn't help but notice numerous license plates from around the country attached to the ceiling of the entry. We were welcomed by a maritime theme, again, along with numerous license plates tacked up in numerous places on the wall. I immediately noticed a few amateur "ham" radio plates. We were greeted by a friendly hostess. The place was bustling with the sounds of many customers chatting and laughing as we were escorted to our table. She presented us with menus and told us our waitress would be there shortly. After a short while we were welcomed by Madison, a lovely, young "bubbly" waitress. She presented us with their complimentary signature biscuits with cinnamon butter and their delicious coleslaw. We had already reviewed the menu and were eager to try their Alligator Nuggets w/horseradish dipping sauce and an order of Fried Calamari. We gave her that and our drink menu. She would be back shortly for our main menu selections. In the meantime, we sampled those excellent biscuits and cinnamon butter and coleslaw. Both...delicious! My wife and I were both there for their catfish, which was recommended by our friends. I got their blackened catfish sandwich and their criss-cut sweet potato fries. My wife got her catfish sandwich southern fried along with the same sweet potato fries I had ordered. Our friends ordered their mahi-mahi with fries and shrimp and scallops linguine with Alfredo sauce. Madison came back shortly with our appetizers. My wife was the only one of our group that hadn't tried alligator before. She was very surprised, commenting that it tasted like chicken. Ha Ha! Both appetizers were excellent. After a short while, the kitchen staff came out with our main menus. Lovely presentations on all of them, and "first bites" were all well-approved! Madison returned a short while later asking how everything was going. We shared our delight with all the meals. Of course, there was no way any of us could possibly have finished our meals, so Madison came back with plenty of "to-go" boxes. It was a very worthwhile experience for us...and our friends who were delighted we had enjoyed our time there. It will be a definite return visit when we come back. Hats off to Madison and the staff that gave us all a very memorable experience at Catfish Country!

I can't say the same for the food experience today. The mozzarella sticks tasted very plain and the marinara tasted like it was from one of those microwave frozen marinaras. It was just disgusting. I ordered the wings which the flavor was nice, but was semi-disappointed because I got 6 drums and 2 flats. Flats are better, but I just would assume I'd get at least 4 and 4. The fries were okay, not really very hot though. My wife got the chicken Philly with onion petals. She said the chicken Philly was okay and would probably get it again, but the onion petals were terrible. She said while they had a nice seasoning on the outside, more than half of them were still raw and crunchy (not from the batter), and luke warm to cold. The hostess was very friendly and loved our baby. The server, Benji, was great. He checked on us and refilled us without asking. He was friendly, but he'd make more at a place with higher quality food.

My wife ordered the mini burgers with fries--both were pretty good. For dessert, we tried the apple tart (dumpling) with vanilla ice cream and caramel. It was a nice finish to the meal and enjoyable overall. Brianna was our waitress and did an excellent job. She checked on us regularly and provided very good service throughout.

To top it off, we had the Fuzzy Old Fashioned! It was a top ten day and we hardily recommend this place!!! UPDATE: While the experience last time was fantastic, upon leaving and discussing our bill we realized it was higher than expected. We returned today and due to our last financial experience, totaled up our bill before we got it. It was around 80 per our calculations. When we finally got our bill, our waitress verbally told us what it was. And to our not surprise, it was once again, higher than it should have been. My daughter, who had heard about our previous experience asked for an itemized receipt which was given to us rather reluctantly. We reviewed it and the burger and drinks were more expensive than what it said on the menu! Our old fashioned which we ordered in the specials menu was $9 instead of the posted $8 and her burger was $16 instead of the $10 posted. She brought it to the attention of our waitress and she admitted that the drink prices were increased but not updated on the menu.. when asked about the burger she claimed it's because we got fries instead of chips but SHE was the one who asked us if we wanted fries, chips, or potato salad. She tried claiming the $6 was fries... and even if that was the case, $6 for fries??? Without a note on the menu? So my recommendation is CHECK YOUR BILL and ask for an itemized receipt. I find it weird that they automatically don't also offer itemized receipts.... So hopefully when we return, it will be updated to avoid future issues...

Richard was coming to Bartow to meet up with his cousin and do some antiquing. It was Sunday after church and none of us were on a schedule. We were told the wait was 10 minutes. We were seated in 15. Again, no schedule as I caught up with my BFF and got to know his cousin. We were seated and Cindy, our server immediately took our drink order. Simple waters, iced tea and coffee. The restaurant was busy and Cindy disappeared after our drink order was delivered. No worries, the conversation kept us busy and we wanted to take in the place. Our orders were taken; I had the Ruben, BFF had the skillet, and the cuz had a patty melt. I couldn't tell you how long as we were so enthralled in conversation. Both sammies were served with fries and cole slaw. I was so psyched upon the food arrival. The bread on my Ruben was crunchy, perfect amount of corned beef, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing, I devoured it! The crinkled fries were crispy and when I asked for honey mustard for dipping, it was brought out immediately! The patty melt looked equally amazing as did the skillet. I was told the biscuit my BFF ordered was fresh and tasted homemade. He could have eaten 5 more. When I write reviews, I am not in a rush. I am more about the experience than Cindy or any server trying to turn a table. Outside of hanging with my BFF and his cousin, it was so worth the 30+ mile drive!
