My old machine needed help in so many areas, and I didn't have a clue why the thread was popping all over the place on one side of the sewing while on the other side it was so very tight! I had known Steve from our acquaintance at the Weavers Guild of Minnesota, and heard of his sewing machine repair talents. So I made an appointment and went to his wonderful studio, and he discussed my machine, with most of his wonderful knowledge going right over my head, not because he was talking above me, but because I knew so little about sewing machines and sewing in general. He was able to reach me on my level though, and he had me leave my machine for a few days while he looked it over and did what he could. My mother's machine now runs like a top! Silent, smooth, and responsive! The sewing that it does is balanced and even, without pulling or pumping out bobbin thread like it was shooting up fireworks on the fourth of July! Just like everyone is saying, it sews better than my big computerized sewing machine! I tell you, get a vintage sewing machine from a garage sale and bring it to Steve! A NYC-based blog commented he repaired older machines and was extremely knowledgeable. That he was also extremely close to my neighborhood helped seal the deal for me. The internet can be a great thing. Despite the light rail construction on University, I made it into Prospect Park without any major issue. Steve was really great; he talked about my machine for a while and answered all my nosy questions about other machines he had in his studio. I dropped my sewing machine off on a Saturday and picked it up Wednesday. The invoice was a bit more expensive since the machine had additional problems, but he was very detailed in his invoice - think paragraphs - about what needed to be fixed and the good parts about my machine. So now I have a sewing machine that was purchased and tuned up for around $100 total that is more dependable and durable than a sewing machine I'll buy today for around the same price. Steve was really friendly and knowledgeable and clearly showed a great passion for his work. I'm pleased about the service and am excited to start sewing!

They seem to have loyal customers and I understand why. I brought in five quartz watches and took a seat in one of the two chairs inside the shop. The shop itself is bright and airy with multiple displays of watches and accessories. The gentlemen who did the work commented that four of my watches have the same Swiss movement. I wasn't sure about one of them so I learned something today in addition to getting batteries replaced. Street parking was free and plentiful near the shop on an early Friday afternoon. The price was very fair and the work completed while I waited. They also gave me a card for one watch battery free after five purchased. Since I have one more quartz battery watch at home that I will bring in when its battery needs to be replaced.
