The minute we walked in to get my solitaire reset and both the engagement and rings resized we were welcomed warmly and enthusiastically which is not the norm these days. I left my ring there to have him do the less invasive fix. My husband and myself also had our wedding rings cleaned for free. Nicest guy helping us out, found out his name is David, the owner. I have brought numerous pieces of jewelry to be repaired or resized and am always met with a clear description of what exactly needs to be done as well as a very reasonable estimate. The staff are very friendly and good conversationalists, should you have to wait a few minutes. I have been surprised more than once by their offer to make a repair while I waited. Stay away!! They tried to scam us. We took in a 22 ct. gold ring that had been passed down through the family, and asked for them to resize it (up by ~0.5). They said they would have to purchase more gold in order to make it bigger because it was too thin -- fine. We agreed, and they estimated the total cost would be $100-$125. They called the next week and said that they couldn't find any 22ct. gold to purchase anywhere, and that they would just "tap it out". Fine! It should be cheaper that way, anyways. When we went to pick up the ring -- they had made it SMALLER. There is a visible seem in the back of the ring where they REMOVED GOLD. We said this isn't right and showed them the receipt. They tried to lie and say that it was now the size we asked. They measured it on the mandrel, lied to our face saying it was the size we wanted, and only admitted that it was actually smaller after I asked to see the mandrel myself. NOT ONLY did they lie and try to say that we were wrong, but THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US FOR THE WRONG JOB. The man finally yelled, "Pay the $125 and take the ring somewhere else!" Obviously, that was not going to happen. They finally agreed to resize it (to the size we initially asked for), and did so in all of 20 minutes. They still wanted to charge $125 (because "It's a very difficult job, and only a few jeweler's can do it"), even though they didn't add any gold (and actually took some instead); but we did not pay that. There is still a visible seem in the back from the gold that they stole from us, too. If you do decide to risk their business, I recommend taking very, very careful notes about what your ring or jewelry initially looked like: take its weight, write it's size, take pictures of your jewel, and ask for a cost breakdown for the modifications. read more

If I could, I wouldn't give these guys any stars! I had some cheap costume jewelry that broke shortly after purchasing them. I went in to get an estimate whether it would be cheaper to repurchase the earrings or to fix them and told him that they were cheap costume jewelry up front. He said that he could repair them and that indeed it would be cheaper to repair. I said fine and left them there. I returned on the appointed date to retrieve them and he had ruined them. When I questioned him about the issue he asked to look at my receipt. I (unfortunately) let him look at it and asked for a refund. He immediately started screaming obscenities at me (f***in b****) and told me to get out of his store or else he would call the police (he repeated this over and over). I told him to go ahead and asked him to return my receipt and when he refused, I demanded that he to give it back. He refused again. I left and immediately lodged a complaint with the St. Anthony police and the officer told me that this was not their first complaint about this guy. I believe he's pulled this scam before because of the timing of when he asked for my receipt, the things he said to me (not told here) and the fact that I had paid in cash. I also lodged a complaint with the BBB and with no proof (receipt), there wasn't anything they could really do (but they weren't much help anyway). Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. read more

Absolutely horrible! I dropped off my watch one month ago. I called in weekly to find out the status in which the owner said he would call citizen to see why it was working improperly. Weeks had passed and I finally picked up my watch, nothing was done to it and was charged $20 to take it back. I had an awesome experience with The Jewelers! I have a very sentimental and expensive wedding ring (4+ Carats) that needed repair. I'm somewhat sensitive to just 'anyone' taking it and fixing it/cleaning it etc. Not only did I experience incredibly professional and knowledgeable advice, I was very impressed with the detail the owner (Dave) gave me in explaining (and showing me via the magnifying/microscope equipment they have) what needed to be done and what he could do. When I picked up the ring, I was so impressed at how it looked - frankly, it was better than what it looked like on my wedding day. He also appraised it and gave good advice on the importance of a proper appraisal - information I didn't know but needed to know! I'm really happy with my experience and the outcome of the service I received. I also had some jewelry that I was curious to receive a quote on (to sell) - he was very honest, I felt, in telling me what was worth what...and advice on what else we could do to take an old piece and make it into something new - at an incredibly reasonable price. I love the idea! He also gave me some honest advice on a piece that might not be worth selling etc. Overall I just really appreciated Dave and our experience there and would recommend The Jewelers to anyone! read more
