This review is a few months late, but I must give praise when it comes to Jewels. Finding representation was new to me and not an easy task. I was faced with having to defend myself from another counsel who was over-stepping. Having gone through hoops with other firms to consult, it was refreshing to hear back from Jewels directly. A good old fashioned phone call where I was given sound advice from the start. I truly appreciate how Jewels gets down to brass tacks which was exactly what I needed. Don't let the high reviews fool you! I made an appointment with the attourney last week for today. I got a phone call from the receptionist this morning, who was really short with me and had a very harsh tone saying that the attorney had a last-minute court hearing so she would not be able to make it for my appointment. Which I was perfectly fine with! She went on to tell me that,"they have no control over the court hearing." Blah blah blah. All in a very rude and negative tone almost as if she thought I was going to be upset about the moved appointment, which I was not! THEN I asked if it was virtual or in person (I have no preference) I saw some kind of link to log onto on the confirmation email so I was just asking. The receptionist stated,"Well you never said that you wanted a virtual appointment, you needed to let me know." And felt the need to lecture me in a VERY rude tone about how I need to let her know ahead of time. She never verified if it was either or! I was perfectly fine with in person appointment! So I asked if I could personally speak with the attorney about this horrible experience, the receptionist kept making excuses for me not being able to speak to her. And then when she finally called, I was still on the phone with the receptionist! If i'm going to spend all my money getting represented, And as a potential client I deserve to be treated with utmost respect! This is the very LAST thing I needed today. I don't deserve to be talked to in this matter so I will now be represented by a different a attorney! If you're reading it's because you want to know more about Jewels J. Jin. No amount of words I can use would be enough to express my gratitude and appreciation for what she has done for me, but I'll try my best. During the month of October 2017, I was the victim of a horrible car accident. I had the right away with a green arrow to turn left when I was T-Boned crashed into by someone who was going 65+ MPH (If I remember correctly from the police report) and ran a red light, because she was "in a hurry, late for work, and using the radio". I believe she was using her cellphone, but that's in the past. Unfortunately for me, and fortunate for her at the time, she claimed to not have insurance. This complicated my situation for a couple reasons. Besides receiving a huge head laceration to the back, left side of my skull which was bleeding profusely and required 11 large staples to close and a very banged up body (my first time in an ambulance), thanks to the negligence of our irresponsible insurance agent I did not have Uninsured Motorist coverage. At the time of the accident my family and I did not know this, but we found out when the first law firm who offered to help us met with us and read over our insurance policy packet. (supposedly one of their agents saw the crash and wanted to help us and that's when we randomly received a call from them, not knowing how they got a hold of our phone number, which I thought was really strange at the time, but my father decided to trust him due to our desperation at the time and because I did not trust the previous lawyer we used that was referred to us by the negligent agent I mentioned before because of the way she handled a past accident case I was in. So we decided to meet with their representative. I did not know Ms Jin at the time) This is where he "explained" that there wasn't much he can do without the UM coverage, but they'll "try their best." Long story short, they did nothing for me. A couple months later I received a letter from them saying they weren't going to represent me anymore and if I wanted another attorney to represent me I could get one. Since we run a family business together, my father, mother, and myself, I offered to still due some of my tasks which was not completely wise on my part almost immediately after my accident. My father had his own business for over 9 years on his own and had just incorporated about 3 years before the accident and made me part owner along with my mother. Since then I've tried my best to help run it as best as I can and this is why I made that unwise decision. I was lucky enough my mother was willing to drive me to where I needed to go work wise, since I was not ready to drive again after the scare I received after the accident. Also, since I told the chiropractor who was treating me at the time that I felt fine they allowed me to work lightly but that also might've been a mistake on my part. In hindsight I understand that, but my father and mother have always done everything they can for me so I wanted to do the same and I do not regret it. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger is easy to say, but not so easily felt sometimes. Before the accident I mentioned in 2017 I was already struggling with depression and anxiety due to my personal life. After the accident I tried my best to pretend I was fine, but my symptoms became extremely worse. Eventually I started driving and tried to go on with my life as best as possible. Now that you understand a little bit what I went through, I will explain where the extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, professional, patient, understanding, strong, respectful, diligent, hard-working, friendly, thoughtful, caring, Ms Jewels J. Jin comes in. When I told my story to a special person who had always been very concerned with my wellbeing, she recommended me to Ms Jin. I was very happy for the recommendation. I spoke to Ms Jin and told her my story and she was more then willing to represent me after I put the facts on the table and she did some research into my situation. She explained to me that by law, we're required to have UM coverage UNLESS, we sign a waiver or say by word that we don't want it. My Dad never did neither and was never told he didn't have that coverage. (My truck was under my name but also our companies as well, but I was not working at the time of the accident) I explained this to my parents but unfortunately at the time I did not receive much support from my family or relatives. My parents had lost even more faith in attorneys from past known experiences and because what had just happened with the previous attorney that tried to "help" us. My parents were just happy I was a live, and to a certain extent they were right and I understand, It could've been a lot worse for me.
