    French Toast

Honestly, it doesn't matter if you come here for dinner or for brunch, you will thoroughly enjoy your meal. The quality of the food here is top notch and tasty. The dinner is excellent. Through multiple vists, I've had the chance to try many of their menu items, including the fried chicken sandwich, duck poutine, fried chicken pieces, mac and cheese, and eggplant dip. The duck poutine was my personal favourite, but all the dishes are flavoured excellently and will certainly leave you satisfied. That being said, the brunch is on an entirely other level. Whatever you do, make sure you get their home fries. They're insanely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They're the perfect encapsulation of what potatoes should taste like. Make it the side to your eggs benedict (my go-to order here), and you'll fuel yourself well for the day ahead. The brunch here rivals Toast and Jam for best in the city. Oh and be sure to end your brunch with the French Toast. This is a spot that every Kingstonian has to cross off their list, and every visitor needs to try if they can. Check out @foodpharaoh on Instagram for more food!

I try not to write a review on just one visit, good or bad, it's hard to tell with just one data point. Over the course of 9 days in Kingston for the 2020 Brier we had 3 meals here: two with reservations and one ad hoc (we ate corn dogs at the bar). Service was top notch, no constant disturbances of "is everything OK" but waitstaff were always available if needed. Food was fantastic -- roasted beet salad, multiple orders of Fr Onion Soup, the Cassoulet is to die for!, Mushroom Risotto, Beef Short Ribs Bourguignon and, of course, the corn dogs! Well stocked bar and mixologists were quite skilled; we quite enjoyed the Chien Caesars and Dee's Fig Fizzes. I need to figure out another reason to come to Kingston, just to return here for a meal...

The brunch menu available online is not the same as the menu in restaurant, so some of the items were not available. Of the food that was ordered, everything was very good! The standout item was the soup du jour which was a roasted carrot curry soup; it was so delicious that we ordered a second one. The service was friendly and attentive. The back patio is also a great place to eat if you want to be outside but also out of the sun! We were the only ones seated outside for most of our meal so it was quite quiet.

Pretty great, and doing a great job during Covid. The duck confit was especially perfect.

Delicious omlette of the day lunch (maple with bacon) and frites.

The place is open and bright wherever you sit, whether on the outdoor patio, downstairs by the bar, or upstairs. Service was excellent. My reservation was smoothly handled, and my server took good care of me. I got offeres some bread and butter after I ordered, which was really a nice surprise. The offered breads were seeded, ollve, and rustic style. All delicious, especially with the sweet butter. For the main meal, I got a half dozen oysters, an order of cha gio and their Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad. The cha gio were crispy, not greasy, sweet and savoury. The oysters were super fresh, sweet and a good size. Along with the usual condiments, they included pickled red onion, which is the first time I've ever had this. I really enjoyed the acidic sweet bite enhancing the sweetness of the oysters. The Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad had microgreens, red cabbage, red and green and yellow sweet pepper, red chili pepper, edamame, coriander, green onions, and fried parsnip chips. The Ahi was charred on the outside, fresh and meaty. I appreciate that the sesame oil, soy sauce and hint of chili on the perfectly chewy noodles was separate from the veggies. The vegetables had a very clean flavour, but I would have liked something more, maybe a touch of citrus. A glass of good wine rounded out the whole experience. I was way too full at the end of the meal to even contemplate dessert. All in all, a great meal, and I would return any time.

We scoped out a few places and landed here for a change from the typical pub vibe, Italian pasta joints around the corner, or chains like Jack Astor's. We beat the lunch crowd, arriving just before 2 PM. Service was great--we were seated immediately and ordered a few tapas: some roasted Brussels sprouts and a selection of meat options including Persian BBQ lamb, achiote grilled chicken, and sticky pork ribs. The chicken was my least favorite, though it wasn't bad. Everything else was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'd really like to come back another time for proper drinks--they have an impressive wine list and a nice selection of sangrias that caught my eye. Definitely worth a return visit if you're passing through Kingston.

They have a private party room downstairs which is also where the restrooms are located so the restaurant isn't really accessible. They recommend 3-4 dishes per person. This can be expensive as most dishes are in the 20 dollar range. The steak with chimichurri sauce was excellent!!! But was also $44.00 for about 13 small slices. We also ordered a Thai green curry cod that comes with cashews infused in the sauce. We had a nut allergy at the table so they were able to remove the cashews to make the dish nut free. Service was decent but this is a dining environment where you are not rushed out the door. Dishes come out sporadically so you are meant for slow dining. This is a good place to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want something different while in Kingston.

I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.

The waitresses were all over the place not knowing who was with who and all the bills got messed up with people paying for meals they didn't have. It was poor planning on their part and some were getting frustrated with our guests. The managers never came to greet us or ask how we were, they only kept walking by our table several times glaring at our party and everyone noticed. We kept being asked to rush things along and being asked if we were done so they could get more people in due to poor planning and overbooking. When I spend that much I should be able to sit and talk and enjoy my time as long as I want.. and not feel pressured to rush and get out of there and also feel pressured by managers constantly walking by glaring. My mom who turned 70 commented that it would have been nice and professional for the managers to come and say happy birthday or acknowledge her to some degree but instead they just kept glaring standing there and she felt very uncomfortable and just kept trying to ignore it. This was the first time my family which is large and loud we get but it was the first time we had finally been all together since my dad's passing over 10 years ago and we all live across Ontario.. so yes we sang happy birthday loud, and we laughed and ignored the rude staff. I will not be booking an event there again. Also one of the guests did not receive their meal given to another table and there was no reimbursement and her meal came once everyone was finished their meals.
