The wait for the food and to order was long, over three hours for a large table. No reservations though. Drinks came quickly. Then ordered the apps. Apps showed up but still didn't take our main order. The grilled edamame was amazing. Well cooked and the flavor was amazing. It's the best edamame I've had. I didn't try the fried spinach but the reviews on that was also very positive. The egg drop soup was great. Lots of egg and spinach. And some black pepper to add some flavor. So tasty. We've been here a couple times now. The food is good, the service is fine, but it did take quite some time from being seated, to taking our order, to getting the food. We didn't order our food until we had been sitting there for 45-50 minutes. We were in bigger group of about 6 people, but still that is a while. The waitress was friendly but everything just took a while. The biggest issue was that the menu prices via the QR code menu were different than what we were charged. Most menu items were $2-4 more expensive than advertised, which we were not notified about. We saw on the check, and when we talked to the manager about it, they said the waitress should have warned us, and that it's expensive to get a new QR code. If we were told in advance that would have been fine, but being charged something different was not appropriate. Also, we were celebrating a birthday, and they said we could either get a dessert or a shot. They ended up charging us for the dessert without warning us beforehand, when we were expecting it would be complimentary. Either way, we got mainly sushi which was pretty good overall. Most sushi rolls had cream cheese, which is typical it seems like for sushi places around the Midwest. - Crabby basket (4/5): the crab rangoon was super tasty, like one of the best I've had. I think it had lobster in it or something. The egg roll was pretty good but about average. Sauce was tangy and a perfect pairing. - Just fish roll (4.5/5): We added avocado which was extra but worth it. Very tasty, fish tasted fresh. Good portion sizes. - Lemon drop roll (4/5): I love salmon, and this fish was pretty good. Tasted fresh. Don't like the cream cheese in there though, I feel as though it takes away the flavor of the fresh salmon and lemon. - Baked salmon roll (3/5): This had a bit too much going on, with the crawfish on top, and what just seemed like a California roll. It was my first time there. I am not a huge lover of Asian food, but this place was amazing. I had the cadillac roll and the Hawaiian chili shrimp. I loved them both. Our group had several appetizers to share the crabby basket and the Jina balls and t hey too were served timely and very good. We had a very good time visiting and talking. The owner came out personally to check on us at least 3 times. She is opening a bar just two doors down. I will be back with another group. read more

High quality but moderately priced. There are creative regular menu items such as Drunken Salmon and Oi Fish and an extensive variety of sushi choices. Salads are outstanding. Service is excellent although be prepared for slightly longer wait between ordering and the food arriving at your table. Food is prepared when it is ordered; entrees are at the proper temperature and salads are cold and crisp. You will not get "pre-fab" food. Jina is on-site and mingling with the diners. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I have only been once, but it was not a great experience. We were able to walk in without a reservation no problem, that was great. However, we were only a group of 4 and our meal took wayyy too long. I think we waited 40-50 minutes for our food and overall the service was not great. One thing I really loved about Jina Yoo's was the sushi - it was fantastic. I would be willing to come back just for some more sushi. My pad thai was honestly not good at all. I tried very hard to like it, but I really couldn't take more than a few bites. This is going to sound weird, but it smelled and tasted like farm animals or a petting zoo. I don't know why, but the second it came out my friend and I noticed the same gross smell. I thought maybe it would taste okay, but I was wrong. I wouldn't recommended getting anything other than sushi here. My boyfriend got a chicken entree and it had a similar taste/smell. Great food for a vegan! Bibimbap with Tofu was excellent but could have been a little more spicy. Avocado roll was great. Good beer selection but they ran out of IPA. Waitress was very nice and check on us multiple times. Nice casual to upscale restaurant. The food was good but oh my gosh the service was slooooow. We were there on a Friday night. Ok, it's busy, and the first round of sushi we ordered was slow to come out, but the second round? That was a mistake. It took them more than 30 minutes to bring out two rolls. "Sorry, the kitchen is backed up" is all we got from the server. One of my fave places for sushi. Love The Rock roll, HM roll. Wife likes Sin City roll. We both like the Rainbow roll.

Portion sizes are not large at all. Taste is good but I went to Subway and got a sandwich afterwards to fill up. But I expect to be full after a meal so I'm not trying to be too harsh. At least the cost was reasonable considering the amount of food. read more

I live in Saint Louis and would drive the 2 hours again soon for this delicious sushi. We went for my granddaughters 11th birthday with 3 kids 11, 8 and 3. Since everything is made to order, typically you have to wait. Great as a couple- wait with some good wine and beer choices. We looked at the menu ahead and got there when they opened at 5 and placed our order. First- edamame-the best ever. Our 3 year old was eating the skins they were so well flavored with salt, garlic and rosemary ( I think). So so yummy. So get them. All the rolls were fresh and delicious. I go out for sushi a lot but this was bar none the best. The decor was elegant with chintz upholstery and dim lighting unlike some open no ambience you typically get with a sushi restaurant. We arrived here and waited about 15 mins to even be acknowledged by anyone. All the waitresses kept passing by us and did not even ask if we were being helped. I am sure even the owner passed by us as well. Eventually my friend and I went up to the bar and said something. Thats when we got acknowledged and seated shortly after. Outside of this, the food was delicious. The gyoza were fried to the right crisps and the teriyaki chicken was spot on. Served with white rice and veges came in the sauce. Excellent meal at Jina Yoo's this weekend. We had a reservation that allowed us to get our table promptly. Our service was attentive, but slower paced than some other places. This allowed our party of 6 to take our time and enjoy drinks, apps, and each other's company. As for the food, I'd recommend the following: --Japanese sodas for the kids (basically Sprite but with a fun marble contraption that they were intrigued with) --Monkey Goes Nutes sushi roll - a delightful and unique mix of sweet and savory --Kung Pao Chicken - sweet mother of god, this dish was very good. I ordered a 7 and it was decently spicy. It had a unique and awesome vegetable medley (baby corn, carrots, etc... no discernible celery or water chestnuts, which I hate) mixed in with generous amounts of chicken. Our server didn't come one time to check on us during that hour except to bring me another glass of wine AFTER had to ask a different server for it. After she brought the food, she never came back and I had to flag her down to get our check. The menu was a QR code scan. No big deal except when I got the check, my $29 plate was now $35 on the check. When I asked the server, she said the QR code menu was the old menu. WTH - then fix it!! She was not going to credit me until I told her I would not have ordered it had I known it would be that much. Very good sushi roll to start (just a shrimp tempura roll, but it was a good one) and then we both had the B.A.P.T. (Bad ass pad thai) and to me it lives up to the name.
