I tried this place after a long day on the road and the first part kinda went ok, but the food made up for the first part of the service, we arrived at 2100(9:00 PM) so I am sure the staff had been there all day and was slightly tired. However I took the staff 15 minutes before they took our order, they were in the corner just talking and laughing. Being apart of the food industry for a few years, you never keep a customer waiting no more than a few minutes. We order a few menu options, the Tiger roll, the eel roll, shrimp tempura and spider rolls. The food was on point and done very well considering the time of night it was, I was very happy to see the effort put in during the end of the night. The restaurant looks and feels like a Japanese sushi restaurant with the symbols and the straw hut appearance on the inside, some also had wooden benches against the wall, and a sushi bar in front where you can watch them prepare it in front of you. I have had better experiences in other sushi restaurants, but this was a great recovery by the staff and the experience went well! read more

First of all I love this place. Not just because of the name but the atmosphere and price of this establishment. The rolls that come out on fire are awesome. They give who ever orders them a big glass of attention. The service was fantastic waiter was fun and attentive and over all made for a great time. He even gave us extra ginger (yaya). My husband and I stumbled upon Love, Sushi on a whim, and it turned out to be the kind of gem you don't forget. The space was quiet when we arrived, which made us a little unsure at first, but the food quickly changed our minds. He ordered the teriyaki chicken plate with a side of miso soup. Pretty great experience. The atmosphere is very nice with beautiful Asian cultured decorations all around the restaurant. Our Waiter was very kind and knowledgable over the menu. I got the bento box lunch special which was great aside from the fried veggies that came with it. Those were not good at all. My girlfriend got the sushi (Mexican roll and California roll). The miso soup and potstickers were great too! Overall a good experience the only negative that stuck out was the fried veggies that came with the box but my Waiter told me you can exchange those. Updating my review. So we've been here multiple times, and the more we go, the more we realize this place is good but not great. It is pretty good for sushi in the Midwest, and due to its convenient location, we've been here multiple times. The service has always been okay. Overall, basic rolls and nigiri are good. Not the most fresh, but don't taste too fishy. I like the sexy lady more than the sexy guy, I prefer the flavor profile moreso with the shrimp. We placed a pickup order for 5 sushi rolls. They all traveled well and the boxes were well labeled. We got the spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, mizzou, dragon, and hot date rolls. The spicy tuna was incredibly spicy. All the fish didn't seem the freshest, but none were smelly or seemed spoiled. They didn't put the spicy mayo or the eel sauce directly on the rolls, but included them in small containers on the side. An all-around solid sushi spot, especially for the middle of Missouri, with an affordable price point, wide selection of both classic and creative sushi options (or delicious non-sushi options if you aren't feeling it), phenomenal service, and a great ambiance! I came in with a friend on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch, and I was thoroughly impressed. I tried out their three times ladies roll, which came with tuna, salmon, albacore, cucumber, and avocado. It was a surprising, but delicious, light, and refreshing flavor combination. One thing to note, though, is that it's wrapped with a soy wrapper instead of nori. I don't mind in the slightest, but it wasn't written on the menu so it was a bit of a pleasant surprise (but could be good to note if you have a soy allergy). I also had their green salad -- it was pretty standard, with just lettuce, a few slices of carrot, and cucumber. I can't say it was particularly worth the $5, but I'm always a sucker for traditional Japanese carrot ginger dressing. My friend tried out their Missouri roll, Mexican roll, and shrimp tempura roll, which she all loved. Beyond the food itself, the service was phenomenal; our server was incredibly friendly, checked in on us frequently (but not ~too~ frequently), and was generally warm and welcoming. And if you're a fan of k-pop, look no further! The restaurant is lined with TV's all displaying performances from a variety of k-pop groups, giving the entire place an upbeat, energetic vibe. This was reinforced by the restaurant's decor, with its mood lighting, paper lanterns, string lights, and dark wood panel walls. Overall, while I can't claim that Love Sushi boasts the best sushi in the world, if you're visiting Columbia and are craving some solid, tasty sushi in a place with good, fun vibes, definitely drop by Love Sushi! read more

Our 2nd night in Columbia and wanting sushi but it was 9pm (later dinner). So we sought out some place close by, open late and average or better ratings. Love Sushi got our attention. It certainly wasn't quaint, trendy or quiet. It was more of a generic average decor Asian flare sushi joint with the awkward Asian music videos and music playing on every TV. The place seemed clean but run down. If it wasn't so late, I probably would have turned around and left but we were there. Upon sitting down, we were disappointed in the bar menu. Needing a drink, they only offer a small beer (Asian only) and minimal wine list. I ordered the Riesling and I swear to God it tasted like sweet grape juice, the alcohol content must have been 0, as I never felt it hit me. My husband ordered Soporro (came in a 22oz can). The sushi menu was huge! A lot to choose from and they were willing to customize rolls to accommodate our taste buds. Unfortunately they were out of scallops so no Dynamite Roll for us. We ordered the Red Dragon, Sunset, Do Be Do and My Three Ladies. They were all very good! We were impressed with the quality given the atmosphere. The server had 2 tables and always seemed busy talking with other employees and therefore it required us to order from the hostess who was clueless with the menu. She couldn't answer questions. Our server was a bit more knowledgeable but clearly wasn't talking to the hostess so after we placed our order he finally came to our table to take our order?! We told him we have it to the hostess and he never talked to her? They closed at 10 and at 9:55pm the bleach was pulled out. Music stopped. Cleaning started and all you could smell is disgusting bleach water. It was our queue to leave. The second we stood up to leave, chairs started to get piled on top of tables. Maybe wait until the guests leave? It's an ok place for sushi but not a dinner date. Go to Geisha Sushi in downtown Columbia for a better experience, a better bar menu and far better service! read more

I went there with a group of friends, there were 8 of us, on a Saturday evening just before the fall semester started. Even though this is a sushi place, it has a Korean menu, in other words, a sushi restaurant operated Korean, which is fine. The dissatisfaction I have was the food took a very long time. My friends order sushi, bibimbap, I ordered the jajangmyeon (Korean noodles) When my food arrive, half of the people at my table had already finish their food because it took so very long. The jajangmyeon was very disappointing, they use spaghetti noodle to make that jajangmyeon. And the noodles were undercooked. I don't think I will go there again even though it is only a few blocks from me my home. read more

Really disappointed with the food. First thing the staff greeted us when we got in and we have pretty buce servers. We order some sushi and the Korean Jap-chae. The sushi rice just came apart right after you pick it, so that's already a red flag. I don't eat fish so I specifically pick a roll with no fish but they drizzled the sushi in eel sauce (which was not stated on the menu). My friends sushi were also all drenched in sauces, which is weird for sushi. Jap-chae wise it was insanely salty. When they brought it out it was dark in color, so that was already a no-no. The staff and service is nice but food-wise was pretty bad. They did give us a complimentary cutely shaped orange with the check which was cute but interesting. read more

Service was horrible, as waitress forgot half our order then hid away, by sending others to apologize and try to fix our order situation. She only returned at end of meal to ask if we would like another drink, and hand us bill. No explanation, no apology, no discount for having to deal with 2 half meals and one missing kids meal. I'm giving this location 2 stars because I Love the Food, the decorations and vibe is nice, and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, it's Constantly been an ordeal to get it, dining in and especially for take out. For example: I called the Columbia location and set an order for 2 of the same lunch combos (4pc heart attack & sushi hand roll) and edamame. They said it would be 45 minutes. I was there 45 minutes later and they were still working on it, so I paid for the order and waited in my car. When I came back in 15 minutes later to pick it up, I told the server at the front desk my name and the order. They were confused, looking around at the pick up orders and different receipts until he addressed me and asked me if I had ordered at the Columbia location. I explained that yes I did, and furthermore, Love Sushi had already taken my money for it. Another team member came over, shuffled around some more receipts, then apologized and said it would be 10 more minutes. 10 minutes later, the food was finally in my possession! The food was poorly done. The stuffing was falling out of the loosely wrapped hand roll, the edamame wasn't seasoned, and the presentation was sloppy. It would have taken less time to go to the Jeff City location and I have a feeling the service would have been better. If this location is so understaffed that orders are lost in communication, close until more people are trained. It might also be the combination of poor organization and management. Why are there so many places to put receipts? There were at least 2 wick baskets and a receipt stack at the front. Someone's gotta get in there and manage that chaos, please. This place was supposed to be redemption after a horrible experience at a different sushi restaurant. I was greeted at the door and sat by the front window. My server took a minute or two to get to me but I was fine with waiting. She asked me my drink order and gave me water while I looked at cocktails. I wanted to order sashimi and a roll but my server kept telling me the combo I wanted couldn't be substituted instead of telling me I could order them separately. So my food order was delayed because of confusion but overall, the sushi was good. I felt ignored when needing napkins, drink refills, and to pay my bill.
