Lisa, at Studio L, is one of my favorite hair stylists and her salon provides such a great experience. Nested right by the Dizz in Remington, this row home converted to a salon provides an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. She has refreshments to sip while you wait and various products, if interested, to try in your hair. I really appreciate that she's never tried to sell me products especially if I'm not particularly interested in them. She is great at looking at an image I bring in or description of what type of look I'm going for and matching it. I trust her with my hair color and my hair cut and refer my dearest friends to her. Most importantly, she is affordable! She never rushes your cut and color but does respect that your time is valuable. She makes her customers feel like they're the top priority in the salon. She has also used products on my hair that are particularly safe and not filled with harsh chemicals.

The lighting fixtures and salon setup are all modern and create an interesting dichotomy. As an Aveda salon, they have a wide selection of Aveda products. Due to their small storage space however, they tend to have only a few bottles of each product. So if you want a lot of a specific product, you may want to ask them to order it for you. In terms of services, they provide skin care and body care, hair treatments, hair coloring, and hair cuts. Their focal point is obviously hair care. She truly earned her 'Master Stylist' title. She was professional while also down to earth, she asked me what budget I would like to stick to. I told her around $150 for the full high-light if possible. In short, Layla completely transformed my hair. She worked quickly and was extremely thorough; She wanted it to be perfect for me. She even gave me a complimentary blow dry so she could see the results of the color. Although the price is higher than I've ever paid, I really got what I paid for. I'm from a smaller town so this was definitely a new experience for me. I feel like Layla was a perfect fit for me. She didn't make me feel like she was taking advantage of me or rushing me. This place might be ok for hair cut but they do not know how to do extensions and should not offer that service. It's a recession, and since my regular salon in Ellicott city has changed since Covid, I am always looking for a new Asian spot. I thought it would be $30ish but instead the bill was $60. Still not bad for a haircut but not at an Asian salon and not to mention this is a pretty dingy salon. My stylist first of all smelled like cigarette smoke and I asked him several times to wash his hands, and I came home smelling like cigarettes. I was also coughing inside the salon because I'm very very sensitive to cigarette smells. When I cough, the man brought me water, but there was hair in the water so I couldn't even drink it. Needless to say, I was really agitated after the haircut and extremely long blow dry where I felt like my scalp was burnt. If you are looking for an old-time, no no no frills vibe or very good customer service, this fits but honesty it's too expensive for what it is. Cigarette smells and also the man pulled several pieces out of hair while washing - it got caught on his rings and watch!
