I used several other salons in Baltimore before finding them. All of them were good but very pricey and waaay to fancy for my taste. Fancy salons for me always feel like you are paying for the fanciness of it and not for the actual service. I went to Tricho Studio for over 2 years and I was always happy. I just recently moved to Cary, NC and I can't warp myself around the fact that I won't find another Tricho in here. Tricho Studio is all you can ask from a salon. They are very reliable and they are super friendly. They go out of their way to find exactly what you want/need or to accommodate you if you need an "emergency" appointment. And also, and for me one of the most important aspects, they are family owned and local. I am always happy to support local business. And finally, their prices are just great. I can't remember the last time I was this happy with a haircut (and it was half the price of my last hair cut!) I came here on the recommendation of a friend, who called it an, "honest to goodness salon," and that is the perfect way to describe it. There may be other fancier (& more expensive) places in Hampden, but I got a great haircut at a great price from a very sweet woman. I have been a customer of Tricho for almost 20 years. The owner Sharon is an expert in hair color, highlights, haircuts and styling. I have also been to several of Baltimore's expensive salons and spa's, but Tricho's results are excellent and the prices much more reasonable. Tricho has a friendly, casual atmosphere and decor. Easy parking right on the Falls Road and a quick walk down the block to Tricho. Appointments are recommended, but they also take walk in customers. Give it a try! read more

My family & I have been going to tricho for hair cuts & color for years & we absolutely love coming here. Shiloh & Sharon are so welcoming, it's like visiting old friends. When discussing our hair needs, they are patient & thoughtful, always listening intently to ensure they understand what we need. In some ways, I'd like to keep this place quiet, so it continues to feel like our special find. The prices are very affordable & the services are outstanding. Even the shampoo massage is top notch. This place is great! The owner, Sharon, fit me in on the same day that I called and gave me an excellent cut for a great price -- $35. She was very friendly and sweet, and we chatted the whole time. The place itself is very cute and unpretentious, and they go above and beyond to make their customers feel welcome. They even had cheese and crackers for customers out. I always like to support family owned, neighborhood businesses, and this place definitely has that vibe. The guy getting his hair cut next to me actually had been coming since he was a little kid! I have thick, wavy hair and no time or talent to style it. Christina is the first stylist in 15 years who was able to thin and texturize my hair to perfection. I have an adorable cut that literally requires no blow-drying, straightening, etc. Just leave in conditioner and that's it. It's a laid-back intimate environment and reasonable prices. read more

I got lucky the first time as a walk in, as the owner was there and had time to give me a cut. I am very picky, and that cut was perfect. I subsequently got haircuts from other stylists at the same location, and they were all good, but not as good as the owner. I subsequently moved from Baltimore to NoVa and have been disappointed by every place I have tried (all under $25). Maybe I should make an appointment at Tricho for next time I am visiting Baltimore. read more

I have very short hair and needed to find a salon that was priced reasonably so I could keep up with the trims I need every 4-5 weeks. I found Tricho and was pretty satisfied the first 2 times I came in for a women's cut--they did a decent job with shaping and the price was very reasonable ($15)......I thought I had found my place! However, the next time I went in and had the same exact cut, they charged $20; I thought maybe they had to increase their prices to cover a rent increase or something.....although it should be noted that a price let was never posted anywhere. The next time I went in, the price went up again and the same thing happened a fifth time. I tolerated it because it was still cheaper than any other salon in town and they were keeping my hair in line, but it always felt like they were just making up prices as they went along. The last time I went in took the cake. Again, I asked for the same haircut. When the owner spun me around and gave me a mirror to check things out, I noticed that one of my sideburns was a little longer and heavier than the other so I asked her to even them out. One minute later, I had no sideburns--on either side--and somehow fixing my sideburns led to a semi-bowl cut (an attempt at evening out the missing burns?) I paid and left without saying anything because I didn't want anyone trying to fix anything else. I gave the haircut a few days to grow in, thinking that with time and my own product, I could make it work. I ended up making an appointment 3 days later at Smoke and Mirrors where I paid more than double the price, but got a great cut, which has grown out very nicely. I guess you get what you pay for, and I'd rather pay to have a haircut that maintains some semblance of adult femininity. read more
