I ordered one of the drink specials called jirani junction and it's one of the best lattes I've had, I don't remember what exactly was in it though. I didn't try any of their food items because their kitchen closes really early, I think at 1 pm, but their menu had a lot of items that sounded really good. I definitely want to come back and get another coffee and try something from their menu. The cashier was really sweet and my latte came out really fast. There's so many tables and places to sit in this coffee shop so you could come solo, on a date, or even with a large study group there's tables for large groups in the back. read more

If you're into atmosphere, this is the place. It's a cute coffee shop with plenty of areas to sit and work or chat. It's a bit run-down and could use a facelift, but it's clean. My issue is the food. It's just not very good. Drinks are inconsistent. The kids behind the counter are fine but really have minimal social skills. And the meals, whether it's an egg sandwich or a bagel with cream cheese, are tasteless. There's no pizazz. Nothing that makes me want to go there for breakfast. Such a great tucked-away treasure! I needed to meet with a colleague, and the pictures online looked like there were plenty of seating options for us to go over our work. After parking around the corner and figuring out the correct sidewalk, I was amazed at how spacious Jirani is with plenty options for gathering, including outside tables, shared lobby spaces, and tucked-away booths in the back. Even though we chatted a while before ordering, no one pressured us to buy something in order to stay. I decided to try a hot chai with oat milk and a cinnamon scone. Both were quite delicious, and they even offered to warm the pastry for me. The chai had a lot of flavor and paired very well with the cinnamon. We ended up staying there for a couple hours, and the back booth was perfect to spread out for our planning session. I wouldn't hesitate to return here the next time I need to be in the area. Introduction to 2022 alphabet runner-up series & what got me all the way out to Manassas that Saturday: Now onto 2022 runner-ups in alphabet series. Incredibly, all 3 of the 2022 runner-up were in Virginia as I live in Anne Arundel County, MD, but that's just how it worked out with Jirani Coffee House being the furthest from my home at a staggering 53 miles away. It was one of those strange Saturdays where I ended up further and further from my home throughout the day. There was something expensive I was shopping for (bed) where I wanted to test in person as opposed to buying online without knowing. It was in a bedding store in the Tysons area, which I ended up buying from them in the end. Then, there was an astronomy Meetup out at the Air & Space Museum out in Chantilly, so I was like I'm already out in Tysons, and in the 11 years living in the DMV, I need to visit this location of Air & Space. The astronomy Meetup was canceled due to overcast weather, which I didn't realize until after I got there, but I enjoyed the museum until closing time. I weighed options and saw a coffee & comedy Meetup even further from my home in Manassas, which I decided to do since the astronomy event was canceled, and I had already driven all that way. Experience at Jirani: This was a cute coffee house in historic downtown Manassas. The iced chai was excellent, and the staff was friendly. Then, the comedy at nearby ART Factory was great too as was the museum which had some free wine & hors d'oeuvres. If I'm ever in Manassas, I'd definitely try to get back to Jirani! read more

Not impressed. I waited 30 minutes for a mid chai tea latte and the worst chicken and waffle I've ever had. Thirty minutes for microwaved sliced soft chicken tenders. I'm annoyed. I want my money, time, and bite of calories back. The food sat on the table for all of 30 seconds before I threw it away and just left. I do not get the hype. read more

The shop itself is really cute. They have this little library area with an acoustic guitar where you can lounge at. The ladies at the register were very helpful and patient with us when we were ordering. For drinks, we got iced latte w/ hazelnut, white mocha, and oat milk, iced coffee w/ caramel, and a Samoa latte sub coconut w/ oat milk. Coffee was reallyyyy good-- smooth and flavorful. Went to listen to live jazz on Saturday. We didn't know they were not serving food during the event. What coffeeshop doesn't serve food!!! We were calling all day to make sure our reservation went through. There's something wrong with the phone system. When you press 1 as directed the call disconnects. The website is not user friendly. Jirani in Swahili means neighbor, and I think this coffeehouse epitomizes the community feel that the name harkens to. The coffeehouse is very cute, and an amazing place to come and study with ample seating, booth seating in the back, and a reading room. There is also a stage for events, and we came at a time when they had their monthly open mic story sharing event where people from the community came in and just told stories about their lives. Cool ambiance. Workers seemed annoyed at the passing train. I can imagine the loudness can get annoying. I ordered the chicken and waffles and did not realize that some sort of mayo would be used as a dressing. I would have preferred for the mayo to be in a side dish. Jirani Coffee House has been around since 2015 and offers a food, drink, and a dessert menu. We came here before an event in the area, and ordered: +Samoa Caramel Latte +a Cinnamon Roll Latte +a tart The lattes were a little watered down and could have been more strong; the specialty flavors didn't seem to be noticeable and just seemed to add a slight sweetness to the coffee. I did request my drink to be extra hot, but it wasn't. The tart was warmed up and was a good size; could be shared as a bite of a treat with drinks. Staff were friendly, and there were plenty of seating options. I liked that the coffee shop had a nice relaxed vibe where you can sit to catch up with friends or come in to do some work. DH and I went here on a Saturday morning around 9:30 for coffee and a chat. It was bigger than I thought and nicely decorated inside. There is a main room with tables and chairs and big sofa like chairs, a library room with book shelves full of books and then a room with several large booths. There are 3- small tables outside also. It was pretty empty which was nice. The coffee selection was good. DH got a black coffee. They had a lovely blackberry iced tea with no sugar which I enjoyed. December 2021 - COVID Review: Partially glad that my Amtrak train got delayed so that I would have a chance to finally try this place! It's conveniently located right across the train tracks of the Manassas VRE/Amtrak stop. It was definitely spacious enough for my husband and I to be able to come in with our suitcases without feeling like we were in anybody's way. The baristas were super nice too and accommodating when we mentioned food allergies before ordering our lattes. I loved the holiday drink menus they had for the month too! I love going there to study, but recently there has been this one specific worker that keeps coming up to me and being quite rude. All I want to do is study but she keeps making it an issue for me to do so. I wanted to go towards the back to study since the tables are bigger and its more quiet there...and she told me I couldn't go back there and that I had to sit in the front because teenagers would go back there to skip school and get high. I am an adult in college, and was by myself. I wish she would have asked me my age instead of demanding me to sit at one of the tables in the front. I asked the other workers about it and they were nice and told me that of course I could go sit in the back. i'm not from the area, and was looking for a cozy coffee spot. i found Jirani and was pleasantly surprised by the large cafe filled with many seating options, including wifi and a library. i ordered an iced latte with lavender syrup, and it was okay. for a coffee place, i was expecting a bit better. most of their coffees are not very sweet, but i prefer it that way. their ham and cheese panini wasn't bad! i loved that it came with pickles on the side. it seems that they use honey ham, which i am a big fan of. the only downside is that it took them a while to make the food. if you're in no rush and looking for a place to get some work done, it's worth a visit. read more
