During my recent visit to Atlantic City, I had the occasion to take the AC Jitney a number of times. While rides were pleasant enough, there were two instances where drivers were exceptionally rude either to me, other passengers onboard or even people passing by. My first experience was taking the free Jitney from the AC train station. After letting some people off at Resorts, a passerby, possibly homeless started becoming aggressive towards the driver as he thought the Jitney was moving too closely to him as it backed up. The driver responded by driving quickly back towards this guy, like he was using the vehicle as a weapon. Then both the driver and the guy both exchanged several curse words, both yelling at the top of their lungs. What made matters worse is that the driver did not take me to my hotel, since it wasn't a casino. Instead, I had to walk with my luggage from near the Absecon Lighthouse to my hotel - the Wyndham Skyline Tower - a distance of almost a mile! My second experience was after The Who show at the Boardwalk Hall. After getting onboard, I tried to use the Jitney app and the extremely rude driver kept yelling at me to show me that I paid for the ride. I ended up paying for two rides as I was unfamiliar how to scan the ticket. While I would like to believe that most AC Jitney drivers are good workers, these two really were among the worst I've ever experienced. That's says something, since I use public transit alot and worked in the public transportation industry for nearly 25 years. read more

We used the jitney to travel from the Harrahs resort to the boardwalk and had no issues. The fare was $2.25 one way and I believed I counted 13 seats total. They don't allow people to stand so if the small bus is full you have to wait for the next bus. We saw a lot of different buses throughout our stay in Atlantic city. I thought it would be mostly tourists utilizing the buses but there were a lot of locals which is great for the community. The jitney was cheaper than uber and Lyft and we took advantage of this mode of transportation and would use it again when we're in the area. read more

This is a hilarious ride! Full of friendly Atlantic City regulars who are full of advice and anecdotes. The driver announces the stops but not on a speaker, so if you don't hear it and you miss your stop, you're out of luck. Although on this trip we had a cantankerous regular who demanded we go back to her stop. It's $2.25 for a ride, cash, and we picked it up at the Borgata. The first bus got full but the next bus came 5 minutes later. It runs 24/7 but our concierge told us it stops at 6pm. Ask the riders what you want to know- they're more than happy to give you the scoop. read more

The Atlantic City Jitneys have been chugging around Atlantic City since 1915 lugging around our bloated buffet butts from casino to casino! These mini-buses are an individually owned fleet that run routes all throughout the main streets along the casinos and beach area. They also have stops at the AC Convention Center and Retail Outlets. For a low cost fee of $2.25 a ride they offer a convenient way to get around from casino to casino and other points in the area. They run 24/7, and 365 days a year. Way better then taking the overpriced taxis here as long as you don't mind waiting a bit for the next one to show up at each stop, and making multiple pick-ups/drop-offs along the way. The whole fleet has recently been upgraded with shiny new vehicles that are powered by compressed natural gas. Gone now are those beat up faded powder blue jitneys that seemed to have had no shock absorbers in them. Man, some of those were like riding on a roller coaster at Great Adventure! The drivers are normally pretty friendly folk and will chat with you about the casinos, the area, life, etc. Also, they are cash only for a single ride and prefer exact amount. If you are a frequent rider it is $2.00 and a senior rate is .75 cents, but these tickets must be purchased in advance at a few different locations close by. There is no eating or drinking allowed on the Jitneys which does help keep them clean. Also, as each one offers a limited amount of seating they tend to fill up quickly and no standing is allowed. When this happens the driver will not pick you up. No problem, as usually there is another one coming down the street a few minutes away. When riding you get a really mixed crowd in them so be prepared to hear some stories at times. The jitneys are a terrific and highly affordable mode of transportation that is part of Atlantic City's history for close to 100 years now. read more

Originally when reaching out to the Jitney for shuttle services on LBI, they were communicative and helpful. However, there were several miscommunications that led to them not adhering to the agreed-upon services. 1st there to offer shuttle services throughout the Island of LBI for the ceremony and after the reception. We had to move the wedding inside, my wedding coordinator communicated the change to their dispatcher and they still dropped guests at the original ceremony site, causing some guests to miss the start of our ceremony. The dispatcher also did not properly add up the stops and mileage for the drivers and did not allow drivers to prepare enough gas to shuttle guests at a variety of times after the ceremony the length of the island. The drivers also continued to text me the bride during my wedding and not the coordinator to confirm details, I barely looked at my phone all day so many questions did not get answered by me to drivers. I then had to leave my own reception to have the drivers tell me they were not prepared with enough gas and wouldn't be able to make it home.- I had contracted them to shuttle service till midnight, and we ended up sending all guests back after the reception so any guests who wanted to leave early could not us as the bride and groom decided to just Uber back so as not to take up space or delay the shuttles further, any that came to our hotel for afterparty was then supplied users since we were supposed to have one shuttle stay late and they did not. This was added stress and annoyance. I would not recommend them for wedding shuttle services for multi-stops read more

Ahh I've been to Atlantic City so many times and this was the first time I have used the Jitney. And I loved it. Why haven't I used it before ?! They charge 2.50? Or 2.25? Person. It goes to every hotel and major attraction in Atlantic City. We went to the boardwalk . They run every 2-8 minutes which isn't too bad because there is so many of them on the road at one time. The Jitney's hold about 20 people in each bus. The ride however is VERY bumpy. Not the most comfortable ride so beware. Hold on ! The drivers are very friendly and respectful so be sure to tip them :) I would use this everytime I come to Atlantic City ! read more

Take only if you know the route, if not I'd recommend just taking uber to save yourself a headache. The drivers does not announce stops and stops aren't listed. My first experience with this didn't end well. I wanted to go to Borgota from Caesar to meet my friend, so took jitney on his advice. Oh dear, I regret taking it in that evening, I had to remind the driver that I wanted to stop at Borgota and other guest before departing the bus insisted to him to make sure I got to Borgota. An hour later, we passed Borgota. My driver was busy yapping on his phone about relationship issues and unapologetically contacts a driver going in the other direction to take me to Borgota. Never again.. My suggestion to this company is to either have the driver communicate what stop is coming up next or else some other way to communicate the next destination, especially when you're operating in a town that draws a ton of business from tourism. read more

The Jitney's are definitely a hit when it comes to limted trannportation in Atlantic City. Jitney's 1) Take you around for a flat fare of $2.25 2) Saves you money on parking one's car at different casino's 3) Are a suitable alternative to taxis, saves you bucks 4) Are comfortable and have a good frequency. LOL, what an adventure ture! I truly believe there are more Jitney in AC than cars. Drivers are stopped at traffic lights talking to each other. I count 4 within 1 block. Honestly they are everywhere & locals utilize them as much as tourists. The bad thing is you get to see how close the projects are to the Boardwalk & where you are staying. If you have back ailments, take a cab, this is the roughest, hardest ride I have ever had, including tractors. On a posative note the are all handicap equipped and have a ramp that lowers & raises to fold up to accommodate all. Was very happy to see that! Another posative it is $2.25 per trip. They let you off far away from doors, but what can I say...it wasn't raining & you can get from 1 point to another for a decent price. What's a girl to do? At least AC offers reasonab, frequent transportation to get you around town. read more

We had a group of 10 people and our driver Em was super helpful and easy to work with. He was super easy to communicate with throughout the whole process. Em was on time both ways and even stopped at Wawa for us on the way back. Definitely recommend as it was much more convenient than getting multiple Ubers for a group. Em was the best! We told the driver that we needed to go to the train station and gave him the time we needed to be there. He said he'd get us there in plenty of time; after losing at least 15 minutes, we asked again and he said he forgot and would take us now, but that we wouldn't make the train. The next one was 2 hours later and he shrugged and said there you go. He then dropped us back off at the spot where he picked us up and told us we had to walk to the train station. He made us get off, telling other passengers that we were holding them up, making them turn on us and harass us to get off the jitney. In the end, we paid to ride in a circle, miss our train, and now had to make my 4 year old niece walk from the casino to the train station. I'm beyond furious. read more

I am the only passenger inside the jitney at Atlantic city airport. And the driver just kept me waiting inside the jitney for more passenger when there are no one willing to board the bus. He is just reluctant to move off and suggest to me to take a cab. I been sitting in the bus waiting for 1 hour, making me feels like a fool. Which is totally not as describe in the website. Cheapest way to get around Atlantic City Hotels would be using the Jitney service. Or if you have the leg muscles and stamina for it, WALK. However, depending on your schedule and their's it may not be the fastest way as there might be wait time for the Jitney, travel routes, detours, yada yada. Unless you're going from tropicana to the borgata, 2.25 isn't worth it, the hotels are so spread out that it makes it so tiresome to go to a different casino. Also the rides are very bumpy and seats fill up very fast. It's also a block off the boardwalk, which is starting to enter the slums of AC. You also have shady drunk characters at night looking to hit up a rich tourist. And don't be fooled, there's not that many police and what is the driver going to do? AC is getting dumpy :/ read more

I love the AC jitneys! I want there to be a tv show that interviews jitney riders, like taxicab confessions, cause let me tell you, they are an entertaining bunch. These little mini-buses are owner-operated, so you may find yourself in a very patriotically decorated country jitney, or a more disco-bus ride. They tend to be dirty and crowded and a little falling apart. Seems most of 'em need new brakes and shocks, but they are super convenient, the drivers are friendly, they go everywhere, and the company is fun! Hold on to your seats, cause you never know when there'll be a random u-turn or bump in the road. We overheard random conversations from drug dealers, hookers, and gambling junkies, but never felt unsafe, only amazed. I wish they had these things everywhere. read more

I highly suggest you have exact change for your trip. I have not had any issues with their service during the daytime. Unfortunately, at night, especially late night, it is has been repeatedly disappointing. If you don't stand near the jitney stops, it's very easy to be overlooked. No change is given at night. I've seen so many tourists given attitudes when it takes them a bit longer to either find change or understand what was said. They are pretty much encouraged to step off and wait for the next one until they are ready. read more

These Jitneys are the best for what they are. No, you will not have a limousine like ride, you may not get a friendly conversation with the driver, and you may not even like who you're sitting next to! But if you're looking to get from Jackson Ave, to South Carolina, or Borgota to the Trop, $2.25 and 5 extra minutes than a $20 cab is more than fair. There are so many on the street, waiting for one isn't that troublesome. Also, they always have, or will get change. If you have a $20, hand it to the driver and sit down. They have a remarkable ability to remember each passengers stop, how much change they need, etc. read more

Every time I have used the Jitney while in AC I have always had a pleasant driver. Last year our driver picked us up at Harrahs to go to the boardwalk. About an hour and a half/two hours later we were waiting by Caesars I think to get a Jitney ride back . The same guy who picked us up earlier was on the opposite side of the street and recognized us, yelled out his window to come across and he'd give us a ride back so we wouldn't have to wait. THAT was great service right there, and it was cool he remembered us considering the amount of people he must see every day. I am going back to AC the 19th of this month and I am looking foward to my jitney rides. lol My only thing is, I never knew what time they start or stop giving rides.. This is the WORSE shuttle bus service I have ever experienced. The drivers are nasty, disrespectful, condescending and none professional. The #3 shuttle bus especially leaves customers stranded after 10pm. I'm told the bus drivers are their own boss. This doesn't really matter to me, I plan on taking my complaint to the New Jersey Transportation Services. If you don't want to be abandoned on the side of the road by Jitney bus service I suggested you take a taxi because jitney bus services is not reliable. read more

Always a fan of taking the Jitney when I am in A.C., it is more than convenient when trying to get to Harrah's or Borgata- the casinos that are definitely off the main strip like every where else. The price of $2.25 each way is really not that bad (way less than a taxi if you can even find one) , if you can't find a resort shuttle that may take you there courtesy of the hotel resort that you are staying that night. You just have to follow the color and see which bus will take you wherever you need to go. I would definitely use this again but like I said mostly just to head to the Casinos that are more out of the way. read more

Jitneys are a convenient, fairly affordable option for getting around AC. It's $2.25 a ride (one way), so it's not what I would consider dirt cheap, but it sure beats a taxi. Heck, even a ride in one of those weird adult strollers pushed up & down the boardwalk costs $5, right? Be aware, though, that it can be a bit of a wild ride. Like other reviews out there mention, all the buses seem to lack shocks, so you will get bumped around. If you are, say, hugely pregnant, you probably will worry that your baby will fall out. If you're holding a small child (as I was), you will need to cling to them tightly with one arm while bracing yourself against the seat in front of you with the other so as to avoid dropping the kiddo and/or rocketing out of your seat. The drivers also drive aggressively and fast. At one point on our way to the Borgata, I saw that the posted speed limit was 25, and we were going 50. I say all this not to discourage anyone from using the jitneys--I just want you to know what to expect going in. Passengers are not allowed to stand, so jitneys may fill up and not take on more people until someone gets off; however, they run so frequently--often just a couple of blocks behind one another--you won't have to wait long if you get passed by. Overall, I think these are a great transportation option in Atlantic City. read more

Three of us got on at the Tropicana with suitcases, on the recommendation of our hotel, to get to the train station. An hour later, after we had ridden around ALL of Atlantic City, hitting every pothole along the way (we were airborn from our seats more than once!), we were back at the Tropicana. Our driver then accused us of lying to him about where we were going (he hadn't asked). He circled around AGAIN, and then dropped us off at Bally's (a block from the Tropicana) and told us it was a two minute walk to the train station. It wasn't. He was so rude and unprofessional, blaming us for not having the route memorized. Never again - take a cab! We made our train with about one minute to spare, despite having left the hotel an hour and a half ahead of time. read more

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES- Please be aware of the gross mistreatment of my husband that occurred from a jitney driver. My husband his a minor disability that effects his speech. A Jitney driver mocked him and verbally assaulted him. To add insult to injury after we boarded another Jitney the mocker went over the CB radio and mocked my husband again but this time for every driver and every passenger of the Jitney to hear. My husband is very accomplished in the military, his education, and his Aero-Space career. He has never face this kind of discrimination. It sickens me because, I see all around AC people with disabilities who are not able to fight back. I plan on pursuing full action against the Jitney driver so he will NEVER have the opportunity to discriminate behind the wheel of Jitney Bus again. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would... Ok here's my story... I used the Jitney service to get to and from the airport. My first driver was a little rude, but fine, I could get over it. My driver to the airport was SO unprofessional and the ride ended with the police getting involved. During the trip, he almost got into 3 different car accidents, was on his phone the entire time, driving in the middle of 2 lanes, was in the far left lane and abrubtly crossed over 2 lanes to make a right hand turn cutting off 2 cars, and then when we got to our destination I told the man I wanted to speak to his manager before I paid him. He got into my face and was yelling at me and viciously pulling my suitcase out of my arms 4 different times which caused a scraping off my foot. I'm 5'3 and 110 pounds and the man almost pulled me to the ground several times as he was trying to take my luggage and kept yelling "these bags are mine now!" It got so bad that I had to call an officer over to help me. The officer threatened to arrest our driver and finally the man gave me the phone to call his manager. I explained the situation to him and he did not appologize at all for his employees behavior. His attitude was like "ugh ya ok so what do you want me to do about it". DO NOT RIDE JITNEY!!! They are so unprofessional nothing like this should happen to anyone ever! HORRIBLE customer service! read more

We took a Jitney service from ACY to the atlantic city strip. I have never been more disappointed with a shuttle service. The shuttle itself was alright, but the service we received was absolutely ridiculous. The driver was rude, overpacked the bus, asked people to sit on laps and suitcases, and wouldn't turn the air conditioning on in the bus while we waited 20 minutes to depart from the airport. I was with a very patient group of individuals, however by the time we got to our hotel, we were all hot, sweaty, and frustrated. Our driver was too concerned with her phone while we were waiting and even while she was driving than answering the questions of the patrons on the overcrowded bus. It may have just been our experience, but I would NOT recommend taking a Jitney bus. read more

I called them to ask for information on getting from my hotel to the train station. The man who answered said "it's only 4 blocks you could just walk". At 5 AM in a city I have never been in before. Decided to take my wife to AC for her bday. We made a reservation at Harrahs. Decided to head over to Borgata and took Jitney. We waited 5 minutes to catch a shuttle on the way to Borgata......however on the way back was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. We waited 45 minutes but here's the kicker. We would've taken a cab but every single driver that wasn't going to Harrahs kept on saying 5 more minutes. What bothered me about this experience was being held hostage to the constant reassurance the bus was coming. I would've taken a cab at anytime if someone would've been honest with me. Service comes fairly regularly and is a cheap way to get all around AC. The fact that the fair is $2.25 is rather annoying because you have to have coins available or get them as change. Just make it $2 even and stop wasting everybody's time! read more
