After evaluating my Ford I was told that there was a Technical Bulletin that came out from Ford several years ago. I am impressed that they did the research to evaluate my car. They told me I did NOT NEED A TRANSMISSION. I only needed an update on the vehicle computer. Here's the numbers. Ford wanted $3500 for a rebuilt transmission. A new transmission was $6000. Final cost at Scotty's $150 to evaluate $250 to upload the new software Total $400.00 Can't say enough good things about this place. Talk about trusting a Mecanic!!! Calipers, brake pads, power steering rack (wtf? to pass inspection? um yeah ok) etc. When they finally gave me an estimate it was almost $2000 lol. The car is not even worth that much. The next day I took it to another mechanic, it passed, I paid $40 and walked out with a shiny new sticker, all in under 20 minutes. Ray's went a little overboard with their scamming attempt. I probably would have bought an estimate of, say, $500. I might have even believed them and had the work done. TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS though? On a car worth half that? LMAO. They aren't the brightest at Ray's I guess. I mean, I understand that Billybob the mechanic needs to replace 20 of his teeth and Bertha the receptionist needs a new MAGA hat, but $2000 is a little....on the nose.
