Located at the NE Corner of Piquette and Brush Streets, FB4K occupies some real estate on the property of the old Ford Piquette Plant, home of the Ford Model T over 100 years ago. While a portion of the Plant is now The Ford Piquette museum, the other major building is home to FB4K. With a M.O. of giving back to the community, FB4K relies on donations and volunteers to be successful. With help from their sponsors, they're able to continue their efforts in helping those most in need. I don't Yelp about social services organizations often, but this is an important organization…read more There are many family issues in the Asian Indian community. As a member of the community, I have seen first hand how we ignore these issues and sometimes shamefully deny that they exist. Abuse is a problem in our community as it is in any community. However in our community we don't talk about this out of fear. We are after all one of the "model minority" communities. The beauty of MAIFS is that it is an organization that makes it acceptable to discuss and address the many issues that we have in our families. I have first hand experienced physical and emotional abuse. I have seen the reaction of others in this situation to quietly accept this abuse and sometimes become abusers themselves. The dynamic of power and control is a very complex one. I say this all with a belief in the power of redemption. However, those who are causing harm must first acknowledge their behavior and accept therapy, and those who are being harmed must stand up and must show some courage. I see this very rarely in our community. So in my opinion, there is great value in an organization like MAIFS. To me, though, where MAIFS is lacking is not in purpose but in implementation and in thinking outside-the-box in programmatic efforts. In particular, it seems difficult to get involved with MAIFS and it seems difficult for other community agencies to partner with MAIFS on long term initiatives. I do think some of this may be because MAIFS is an organization run by volunteers with limited financing and limited involvement of younger, progressive members. However, I have also led volunteer organizations and made it a point to reach out to all who showed an interest (regardless of age or class). Everything is not based on money as money will not always be there. Speaking of financing, tonight there is a major fundraising event for MAIFS. I wish the organization success with that and hope that the organization continues to develop further to serve our community.

I had this business out to do a quote on removing junk from abandoned stiff at a tenant's unit…read more First problem, he showed up with a small truck. Them because I am out of state he thought he would jack the price up ridiculously high. He wanted $750 per load removed and estimated around 7 truck loads. In that truck it would have been 10-12. The whole reason I paid the other tenant to open the door to provide a quote was for a set price. Not something where I could taken advantage of later. His estimated cost (which was low on truck loads) came in at $5250. Guess what I got it done for people? $1350. The other reviews are good, but I caution people to be wary of this business trying to take advantage of you during the process. I told them I found them on Yelp, do they actually think because someone is out of state that automatically you try to take advantage of them? Duh. I get several quotes.

I hired Chris and his team to remove asbestos wrap on boiler pipes in my basement. I should have known not to use him when he came to the estimate appointment 30+ minutes late smelling like a certain substance. The day the work was "complete" per Chris, I went to the home to look everything over. I sent Chris pictures of some concerning areas and he came over the next morning. We discussed possible remedies for those areas and as soon as we mentioned not providing final payment until we had our other contractor that is removing the pipes come out and see the areas around the ceiling where there was still visible asbestos that was not removed well, Chris immediately became hostile. He started to threaten us with a lien, said he'd see us in court and just became the most unprofessional, despicable human being I've had the misfortune of dealing with recently. I will reiterate here, at no point did we tell Chris we were not paying him, yet he started to threaten us immediately. I even explained to him when he was having this tantrum that we are not saying we are not paying, we are saying we will pay when this is done right. I don't know if it's because it was 2 women he was dealing with or if he treats all his customers like this. You would think a company run by a minority would also watch what they say yet he had the audacity to tell us in no simple words that "in America I can sue you" because I didn't want to pay him the remainder when he deemed the work done (he chose those words knowing full well my mother wears a hijab and therefore we must be uneducated and not know anything about the US law system). Apparently as the person requesting the service my input has no say to Chris and when he says the work is done, that's it, the work is done. After all of the threats, I gave in because this wasn't worth it. I told Chris I'd have someone else fix the areas he didn't and I'd pay the remainder without even deducting anything from it so I wouldn't have to deal with him ever again. All I asked for which I think would be standard practice, is that he provided final paperwork outlining what was done and the air test results. This man actually said no and that it's only provided after payment and that if I didn't pay he'd see me in court. He also tried to ask that we meet in public to do an "equal exchange" like this was a drug deal. Eventually I got the paperwork and as I said, I made the payment. It was just constant threats of "I'll see you in court, I'm gonna sue you, I'm gonna put a lien on your house". BEWARE if you want to use this company. Do yourself a favor and go with any of the other numerous companies in the area.
